Updated with pictures! Starting weight 243 Current weight 171 Surgery date 4-15 Feeling pretty good now other than some back pain. Most unexpected "side effect" of this journey so far is my newly discovered urgency to make changes in my life, mainly my career. I want more for myself. I deserve more. I am enrolled in an MBA program and ready to apply for a promotion at work. Things I wouldn't even have considered several months ago. Hope everyone else is doing well and loving life!

Turns out I have a herniated disc. Not happy with the care I have received since I was told. Still dont understand what the long term will look like on this. Anyone else know anything? Will core strengthening work? Or is it a lifetime of pain?

Yes it makes sense to me. Not sure my dr believes it though. Didnt ask the bariatric coordinator about it yet and dont see him for another few months. My insurance does cover chiropractor s but a 35 a visit c opay 3 times a week is a lot of money for me! Wonder if it would be the same story with physical therapy as far as the copay. I'll follow up with my dr next week and ask about it. None of the exercise I do really bothers it because of the location. Right in the middle- dont think any of my exercises target mid back.
-
I saw a chiropractor but the treatment is so expensive. Not wanting to do it unless it will help. The 3 appt s I had so far haven't helped. Im wondering the same as you guys, is it just a temporary readjustment faze due to the weight loss or will it be long term?
-
But let me know if your dr has a different opinion!
-
That's the same for me. Right below the bra line all across. So weird. Definitely not kidney it is much higher than that and not gallbladder since mine is removed. Seems so strange. My dr didn't seem to think it had anything to do with WLS. He just said to wait and take muscle relaxes but its not improving.

I am about 3 months post op and have been having mid back pain for the last month or so. Didnt have problems pre surgery. I have been seeing a Dr and haven't found anything major. But I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Is there a link between WLS and back pain?

I've been having sulphur tasting burbs and now can see some white at the very back of my throat. Lots of pain and nausea too. My surgeon has not been helpful because he can't find anything wrong with me surgically. Think I'll just try the urgent care and see if they can help -

Post op shopping advice

I used the seasoning packets out of ramen noodles also! Tasted better than the boxes of broth. Also thought the Lipton cup o soup packets in cream of chicken were good. No chicken chunks in it to strain out. Straining the cream soups was a real pain to me. -

Dont go nuts with the protein. You'll have to wait until after to see what you can tolerate. So just a few packs of jello, a couple Gatorade, decaf tea, and a little broth (maybe a low sodium variety because everything tastes stronger) will get you thru the first few days. After that you should be able to go to the store. Just dont buy a lot of anything. -
Glad to hear no other surgery is needed but frustrating to be back in the spot where he thinks I'm fine

Ct was clear. Now he wants me to wait until next appt next Wednesday. Sigh. Anyone experienced rotten egg burps? What can that be? Also what about probiotics? Do they help? Now just trying to think of anything I can to cure myself. Any home remedies that work to kill infection?

I know they have to maintain their stats and make lots of money. But if they went out of their way to help me even though i was having problems then that could be a part of my story. When asked about it i would tell them, "yea i had some problems But the surgeon do all he could to help me." Smh. Just praying for a good outcome and all the answers tommorow.
