    pre-op and starving!

Just think that one day this will only be a distant memory. I too have cheated. Several nights I have eaten 4 saltine s with a slice of cheese on top just to be able to sleep. Even though the carbonation is a no no soon I have been drinking the fruit water by glaceau. It does seem to make your stomach feel fuller. Also chewing gum and ice. Warm sugar free apple cider packs have been soothing to my angry starving stomach. Does make me think about others who go thru this regularly because they lack food for other reasons out of their control. Even children. We are lucky. Lucky to be doing this and having the choice and opportunity to have a better life.

    Does anyone eat pizza?

Yes. Pineapple, tomatoes, and green olives. And its encouraging to think that someday I will eat 'normal' food again! Im on pre op liquids right now so it seems very far away!

    Any April Sleevers?

Only 5 more days for me! And I have no idea what to bring to the hospital! Lol. I won't get my surgery time until the day before and haven't been told what to bring
  5. April 15th will be here soon for me!

    April 14th!

Glad to hear that someone had a similar experience to me! Seems like most say its "not that bad" On day one I was bugging my NUT about the nausea so she might put me in the "whiney baby" category. Lol. I did switch to a different shake every other time. Is there another shake you tried that didnt cause problems? For me the nausea was pretty much gone by day 3 or 4. Your body is in shock and you are detoxing from everything. For me the mental fog still hasnt lifted by day 10 and the crankyness comes and goes. I feel pretty good in the mornings. Find something to chew on. Ice, gum, a straw lol. Its not fun but it can be done. I can see how it not only physically prepares you but starts the mental preparation as well. So stay strong! The nausea should pass! Try mixing the shakes with something you like. I like to mix vanilla powder with decaf coffee and to rani sugar free caramel syrup.

    April 14th!

I have been the same. Lost pound a day all last week so now it seems a little stalled! Just a few more days!

    April 14th!

I thought everyone must be avoiding tax day because I hadn't heard from anyone else on here that they were having surgery on the 15th like me! I requested 3 weeks off personally. But I told my job that it would depend on how surgery went. Some ppl go back after a week if they really have to and dont have too strenuous of a job. My surgeon said 2 to 3 weeks is average.

Anyone having the sleeve in april?!

Jacque from Oklahoma here! Getting sleeved April 15th! Day one of liquid diet today. Feeling nauseous and crampy. Ready for these 2 weeks to fly by!
  10. I am April 15th! I too am nervous. Just dont want anything to go wrong! Worried about functioning on my liquid diet I start Tuesday. Also kind of overwhelming thinking about learning how to eat all over again! Like being a baby without the mother to fix your food lol! I just try and keep my eyes focused on the prize and I get excited. The surgery part will soon be a memory and the day I got my life back. I look in the mirror a lot these days and just imagine. We can do this! Then be here 6 months from now comforting other newbies and telling them it was the best thing we ever did

    stared at

I too have heard this many times. But you aren't that big, they protest. I am big enough to get all of the negative backlash of being fat in this world but not 'big enough' to have surgery? They will forget all about it in a year. And from those who are larger than me and have an opinion well I'm not going to respond to them and stoop to their rudeness, but I want to tell them I'm not going to wait until I am in as bad of shape as you are. Multiple meds, more to lose, mobility issues. I just smile and nod. I'm lucky to have the foresight to do this now when its going to likely go smoother. Im done with my denial and fear about weight loss! Only a few short weeks left for me!

    April 14th!

Last weekend to eat real food before liquids! Anyone else planning a "last meal"? I'm feeling optimistic about liquid diet at this point. Hope I can keep it up by the end of this week!

    April 14th!

Easy for me too. Still took some time but seems like it went smooth. Now it's here almost! Doesn't seem real. I will start a reduced calorie diet this week as i don't want to give my body too much of a shock. Still thinking that a year ago i never would have pictured myself here!

What Happens at Pre Op Appts?

Im sure it varies from program to program but my pulmonolgist sent me for a sleep study and a pulmonary function test (breath in a tube). The cardiologist did an E K G in the office and also sent me for an echo ca rdiogram (heart ultrasound) and stress test (treadmill). The psychological eval included a conversation with the psychologist and 2 tests that I took on a computer. They are looking to see if you are mentally prepared to cope with the changes and don't need any other counselling before hand.
  16. No Premiere protein for sale here in Oklahoma! Only the bars. I do like the Pure Protein ready made drinks.
  17. Hi! I just got my surgery date today April 15th! I am a single mom of 2 kids who are 9 and 7. Any advice on keeping them fed while going thru 2 week liquid diet and then post surgery restrictions? I dont want to torture myself or deprive my kids. Anyone else experience this?
  18. Seems pretty "standard" but maybe just not required. Its up to the surgeons as far as I can tell. Maybe they think having a strict diet will help lower their complications rate which if it were too high might cause them to lose their excellence standing? But hey, sounds good for you! Good luck! I have mine April 15th!
  19. Yes that is what is required for the pre-op diet. It seems the requirements are more strict in the program I am in as far as what I have read here. I do need to give the Isopure a try. And I've heard a lot about Premier but not sure where to get it here. We don't have costco
  20. Thanks! The drinks i can have only have 10 grams each. So pretty slim. Maybe i should just start early when I'm not at work!
  21. What was your liquid diet like? Mines 500 calorie a day diet. Only 6 packets of carnations instant breakfast sugar free with water, one cup milk, and sugar free popsicle s/jello a day.
  22. Its encouraging to hear the whole 2 weeks won't be horrible! Freezing is a good idea. I just think cooking might be rough. So they might be eating a lot of leftovers or heading to grandmas.
  23. Love looking at your pics ladies! Inspiring. Can't wait until its me.
