Hello all Its been a year and 1 month since I had the lab band surgery, although I haven't reached my goal yet , I feel some what satisfied. Before surgery , I never expected to reach my goal within a year, I have given myself 2 years instead anyway. I have lost an average of 64 pounds, my goal is to lose another 60-55 pounds and I will be much happier. I will be honest, I havent' hit the gym once, and I can't give up my occasional glass of wine. Yes and on occasions also I will eat a piece of, chocolate, cake, pizza, Ice cream, fries. The thing, is that I believe having something you like occasionally is ok, the bad thing is eating these type foods everyday. I don't drink any carbonated drinks or beer but I do have my cup of coffee every morning. I didn't experience any weight loss for about a month or 2, but now I am at 8cc now, and this is the tighter I'vee been and lost 10 pounds since my last adjustment. I feel that I am fine although sometimes a lose my guard and a eat a little to fast and throw up. The BAD. -You will eventually throw up, throwing up will be part of your life with the lab band,or at least during the weight loss, while its tight -I kind of misse eating faster, specially seeing my plate full . - The Good, -wearing those pants I had saved away for 5 years,!! -Feeling better about myself and not having to shop at the women's size section. - Overall, I don't regret getting the surgery, I believe that I made a good decision on the lapband instead of the other procedures.

1 year and 1 month later
IvonneBX replied to IvonneBX's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
What I really meant to say with that comment , is that eventually one will lose their guard and end up throwing up . In these instances, Its because I may have eaten to fast, or ate food that its hard to go down. This will usually occur, during the first 2 weeks of adjustment. -
Hello everyone, I just had my 2nd fill last thursday and I am not noticing any difference it terms of restriction. I am wondering if it could be a possibility that the nurse missed my port ? Could she just had injected me saline on my belly? I think about that because my co-worker had a fill with her and she missed her port, then had to pinch her again. I was given 1.5 cc so that makes my band at 5.5 CC filled and I just not filling full. I am losing weight because I stop myself and I am too scared i might stretch my pouch . I am able to eat everything, breads, Pasta, rice , meats etc.. I do chew well though and stay fuller much longer than I used to before I was banded. Anyone feels the same way after the second fill ?

Everything's a slider, if you drink while you eat.

I am in the purre stage, and actually set the 20 minute reminder timing after I eat. Just to play it safe ! -

You were right lol I down 5 poundsx -
Ok So I am on my 2nd day of puree diet and I notice I am not getting full, (I figured that my band is not tight yet since I am only like 11 days post-op.) So I stop eating because my brain tells me and I want to be careful to follow the portion size indicated on the post-op instructions. However, when I wait my 20 minutes to have a glass of Water ( I actually put on a timer LOL) then VOILA !! I feel full. BTW I got on my cheap bathroom scale and it seems I only lost 2 pounds !! WTF . So I figured I am still retaining a lot of Fluid from my liquid diet. , I hope that's it. So I am going to avoid getting on the scale to avoid disappointments, tomorrow is my post-op visit and they surely will weigh me there. BTW will get myself a digital scale!

Almost a week of being banded

I was banded Monday Too and I am just counting my days to the puree stage ! -
Well I started putting neosporin on them. Neosporin always works wells with cuts, scars etc. so I didn't think it will be any harm.

Hello all I was banded yesterday and the surgery went smooth, better than I expected. I was so anxious and nervous in the waiting area, but luckily I found comfort on a patient who was going to have the lapband done as well. His family was there for support and they had thad the procedure done in 2005 and 2006, They had success and NO complications! His uncle was there as well and he had lost like 180 pounds !!! since 2005. So finally wen I went to the operating room about 12:35 I was still nervous but before I knew it they woke me up and it was done!. I had no pain in my stomach at all, just a little discomfort on my neck area and left shoulder side. When they took me to the recovery room it was about 2PM. my vision was very blurry but it did clear up eventually. My mouth was very dry, thankfully I was able to take some sips of Water about an hour later and it went down well. My surgeon came by to see me, and I asked her about my liver ,( knowing that I followed the pre-op diet 75% of the time) but she said it was very small. I did lose 12 pounds though. I was able to walk and sit without paun and and I left the hospital about 5:00 PM. When I got home I had some Soup broth and it went down well, I was careful with my sips and played close attention to my body, I felt full and I saved some for later. Over all I had 5 small incisions not sure were my port is, I can't feel it yet and I forgot to ask. I am assuming its on my left side abdomen with the little heart shaped band. This morning I woke with a little pain on my abdomen where the incisions are nothing major took some liquid pain medication that was prescribed. I haven't experience any gas yet or I think I haven't LOL . I feel very positive about this and I am getting ready to throw away those women size 20 pants, I AM NOT going back there no more!
