Awwww im sorry.... feel better keep us updated!! just push the fluids as much as you can....

i shoveled the foot of snow we got yest and i felt fine after that but for some reason walking too much just wipes me out!! thanks denise i might try the heating pad thing... my ribs feel like they have been stretched out. yest i was fine with foods and today im having the same getting stuck feeling with tomato Soup. maybe its too acidic.

I will be one week post op tomorrow. I went to the store yesterday and i got so winded my chest hurt i could breathe but it seemed my like chest wouldnt expand enough to let me. My mom said its because i need to build up the stamina but jeez I felt like a walking heart attack. I am also having a hard time drinking my food i feel like everything is getting stuck in my throat/chest. even fluids. Anyone have any advice? I am taking gas-x and tylenol every 6 hrs and prilosec 1x day. Oh and just a quick TMI..... when should I worry about not pooping???

omg i was just complaining about the same thing. I have my list on my fridge and i feel like i have 4 options for all the meals and snacks of the day. i had chicken noodle soup today strained all the good stuff out lol.... blah. I dont think i can eat another yogurt or pudding.... they just make me gag

yea I have been using it.... my lungs feel fine its my chest that feels tight. yea it seems like a catch-22 I walk around to help my gas but my chest feels so tight after walking around. so frustrating.

I AM SO GLAD TO HAVE FOUND THIS THREAD!!! I feel like everyone is doing so much better than I am. I had to get a stitch in the incision they took my stomach out of and that is what is causing most of my stomach pain. All the other pain is GAS!!! I have been taking my gas ex like clock work and yet I still get terrible pains in my chest and shoulders.... ugh every time I drink or swallow something you can hear the gas moving around. I have been up and moving too. I feel like I should be passing more gas and at least having a BM but nothing crazy. I cannot STAND the smell of chicken broth. I tried cream of celery Soup today and it was terrible. I feel like I am so hungry but there is nothing worth eating. There is this milk my dr recommends thats milk with powdered milk mixed in to get the extra Protein I might try that tomorrow. I know I didnt meet my liquid or protein intake today. I was terrible.

I am so nervous about my surgery tomorrow. I cannot tell you guys how amazing it has been to be able to read all your posts here on this site. It has helped me so much. I am a mom of two and all I can think of is not coming home to my kids. At the same point the life im living not being able to do much with my kids is just as damming. any positive words or experiences? thanks everybody!!!

yea these gas pains are terrible!! I ate a little Soup today and some Jello. I just want FOOD! I want anything but this crap that they have on the list ..... gimme anything else LOL I am starving. I just dont want to over do it.

im so scared of eating and drinking too fast. I dont know if im doing it now. its so hard to change that kind of habit.... swallowing LOL yea id say ive been 50/50 with being up and being in bed. being up hurts so much because of that stupid stitch he put in but laying down is bad with the gas. i hope i get a good night sleep in my own bed and tomorrow brings some relief. How was your first few days home ELFNOW?

when I get up and move around I can feel the bubbles move and it kills. They gave me tons of reflux meds in the hospital and I start prilosec tomorrow morning. my belly is just full of gas. It wont come out.... i toot every now and again but its is only a small relief. Omg thank you guys for being on this board.... I really dont know what I would do without you!!! THANK YOU!! I am hoping my monday I can tolerate the pain better and walk around more easily.

omg guys.... i thought once I got home I would be so much better..... HOW WRONG WAS I. Please tell me this gas pain get better. I have been taking my gas-ex every six hour but It does NOTHING!! im laying in bed in agony. I need to eat and drink so I dont get dehydrated but it all just hurts so much. I just took tylenol but nothing seems to be taking the edge off.... when does the pain start to go away???

so the headache turned into migraine and nothing would touch it. So I have only gotten up twice today to walk the halls which im not proud of. The dr ordered me a med that I am waiting for. Kind funny how my belly pain is nothing compared to this headache. I GOT TO TAKE A SHOWER! it was amazing!!! LOL i feel so hungry but when I try to drink or eat Jello it kinda hurts. I really can't wait to just hurt at home.... it's lonely in the hospital :-(

Yes I was walking around yest in my room. But this morning I was up bright and early and walked the halls for 15-30 mins. I did it until I was tired. Walking makes me feel so much better. I have a killer headache from clenching my teeth so much for pain of getting in and out of the bed. Thats the hardest part of this whole thing... the damn bed LOL Today I start taking my pain meds by mouth which makes me happy the iv pain meds make me super sick to my stomach. I haven't "tooted" yet LOL I have to do that before I leave so I keep walking hoping it moves the gas around. Any other words of advice ladies?? Thanks for keeping tabs on me Mcbutterpants!!

oh my goodness I was super nervous!! But now I am sitting here in my room hoping to be discharged tomorrow!! Totally worth it! Everything will be fabulous!! Keep up updated!!

Hey guys. Surgery went well. Laying in bed all loopy like LOL. there is pain at one spot on my belly but no where else really. I have been tolerating Water well. and can drink 1 oz every 15 minutes. I AM SO DRY. my mouth is ssssoooooo dry. I never had to get the cath which I was thrilled about but I havent been able to pee yet... my body wont let me I have a few more hours to try before they cath me :-( surgery only took only an hour. I have to stay 2 nights so I get to leave sat morning/afternoon. I want to thank everyone for all the thoughts and prayers they worked!

Thanks guys. I am actually having surgery at the hospital I used to work at so I hope that they will just let me go about and do my own thing since I know where everything is. McButterpants Thank you so much. That is EXACTLY how I feel.... except i didnt get a free pass for dinner LOL. But everything else is the same. I really needed to hear (read) that!!
