Dr. Ahmad vs Dr. Brathwaite (Long Island, NY) PLEASE HELP
jennlee replied to lauren8486's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had friends who used Dr. Ahmad and really like him. I looked into him and was turned off by his office staff. I used Dr. Buchin in Huntington. I absolutely loved him and his staff. Everything through his office was covered by my insurance - I just had some co-pays. As far as blood work, cardio clearance, psych clearance, and other clearance, they are not done in his office. I was given an list of recommended specialist to do all my clearances. I loved every doctor that his office recommended. I am six months post op and down 75 pounds. -
i am also at the six month point. Went from 233 to 159. I have seemed to slowed down. I think i need to up my game with tracking my food and my exercise.

Starting out at age 45? How common?
jennlee replied to KS123's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had my surgery 3 weeks before my 45 birthday. -
Thank you for sharing. I think I am going to go back to using my fitness pal.

For those of you you who track your food - what do you use? Pen and Paper, my fitness pal or something else. I really have been slacking on my Protein and need to start paying better attention. If you are using myfitness pal what do you set you calorie, protein and carb goals at? How far out are you? I know my protein goals are 60-80 grams. I can't remember what was said about calories and carbs. All my materials are home and I am at work feeling motivated. I know everyone has a different program set by their doctors - I am just curious what every one else is doing. My surgery was 9/22/14 so I am 5 months post-op,

My 600 pound life

Never heard of it... now I am curious. I am watching it right now. -
I had this happen to me this morning. I only hit post once and it posted twice. I was posting from a computer not a phone.

I think the long cold New York winter isn't helping with my motivation. It is too cold to take a lunch time walk or evening walk. I think going back to basics and writing down everything I eat will help me get the last 30 or so pounds off. I really need to go home and pull out my packet and reread it. I can only remember the Protein requirement - I am blocking out the carb and the calorie guidelines. I know I will get to goal - just would like it to happen a little quicker.

how far post-op are you? What do you have your calorie and carb goals set at?

How do you guys eat out...
jennlee replied to TeacherMommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 months out and have eaten out a few times. I usually try to get my husband or my daughter to share with me. Last time we went out my husband got the dinner special which came with soup. Chili was one of the options. I had some of the chili and was full. Other times I order a hamburger with out the bun and eat some and save some for later. I seem to always have left overs in my fridge. LOL -
i also started soft food week 3. I am 3 1/2 week out and have a hard time finishing one meatball. What I was told that a meal shouldn't last more then 30 minutes. Eat slow, small bites but if you cant finish it in 30 minutes you are done.

I am just starting the process of bariatric surgery. My doctor recommends that we replace one meal a day with Protein shakes as part of as I call it the pre-pre surgery diet. I am wondering what is everyone's favorite Protein Drink and where do you buy them. Thanks!!!
