  1. I also take quite a few medications. I've found that taking them slowly at about 2-3 minute intervals works just fine. The only problem I had was with potassium pills. They are huge. My doctor replaced the horse pills with an elixor. The taste is not great, but not too bad if mixed with Crystal Light. I agree with the others - do not crush until you check with your doctor. I was banded 5/31/07 and have lost 56 pounds and am starting to go and do more and have more energy. The lapband is the best decision I've made in a long time. I'm a nurse and injured my back. I've had 2 back surgeries in 2000 and 2001. All I could do was stay in bed, EAT, watch TV, EAT, poop, EAT. As a result, I gained about 100 pounds. Also, as you lose weight, some of your medications might be stopped. I'm a diabetic and the insulin has already been cut in half. I really didn't mean to get so carried away with my reply, but felt the need to "talk". Thanks for listening.

    oldies

I'm over 60 and had the lapband done last May. I've lost 53 pounds and feel great. Highly recommend it for "oldies".
  3. Chewing and spitting surely helped me over a couple of humps.
  4. I have total support from my family. However, sometimes I really crave a certain taste. I have chewed a certain food and spit out the part thats hard to swallow. I seemed to satisfy my craving, but didn't bother my stomach. So, I think it might be good for you to savor the taste - but don't swallow!!
  5. Hi - I'm almost 62 - in November. I had my lapband in May. I've lost 53 pounds and it's amazing how much better I feel and how much more energy I have. I'm a diabetic and my insulin has been cut from 55 units twice a day to 25 units twice a day. I almost feel human again. Another 50 or so pounds and maybe I will. I highly suggest the band for older people.

    Is This Normal?

If it's just below your left breast, it's probably your port - that's where the fill is made. If it's in your throat or esophagus, maybe you should talk to your doctor.
  7. I had my 2nd band-fill about 10 days ago. Ever since, I've belched just about non-stop. I don't seem to be able to eat the same as before that last fill. And - most of it comes back up. Can a fill cause slippage, or was there too much fill put in?:sick:help: What should I do - or, will it level out in a few days?:cry

    Is this Normal???

That hard thing is probably your "port". That's where your stomach will be accessed for a lap band fill.:clap2:
