    African American Sleevers

Hi-- I get my sleeve tomorrow! I am definitely glad to find this thread. Excess skin was a big concern of mine. My surgeon said that because I do not have a large amount to lose and African Americans have more elasticity in their skin it should not be a problem. So, there is a difference in our outcome vs. another race. Supposedly the pigmentation of our skin is a big plus.
  3. I am excited, relieved and scared. I am really ready to get this behind me. I realize that the surgery brings about a new list of challenges. Is there anyone else that will soon have their surgery? I need a buddy.

    Any April 1st sleevers?

Hi Ladies, I know my date will be in April but I do not have a definite date, yet. I share the excitement and nervousness. I am so inspired reading all the success stories. I definitely need buddies. I am happy that we can all go through this together. I am in Raleigh, North Carolina.

    GOAL met!

WOW, I am inspired! Congratulations! You look awesome! I do have a question about excess skin. I have to lose 100lbs and I concerned about sagging skin. Do you have any tips to share?
  6. Congratulations! Hang in there! I am hopefully having my surgery in April, so you are paving the way. God bless you.
  7. Hi New Life, I apologize for the delay in responding. I am also on Tysabri. It has been a blessing to me. Prior to Tysabri, I was on Avonex. After I had a relapse, I switched to Tysabri. I have my last doctor's visit next Tuesday. I am excited, nervous and scared. I know I will be thankful that I did it in the long run. Take Care.
  8. Hi - Thank you for posting. This is so helpful. I have MS and I am in the process of getting ready for surgery. Hopefully, I will have my surgery in April. I was also concerned about flare ups. However, I realize that having less weight would give me more energy to exercise which would do nothing but benefit me in the end. I have been truly blessed. My medication and prayer keeps me healthy. I have not had a relapse in 7 years. I am excited but also nervous about the surgery. New Life 2014 we will support each other. I started with the doctor's visits in January and now I am one doctor visit from having everything in place for the surgery. Please keep in touch.
