Let me ask you guys something....I don't have much of an appetite and I know I am anemic and low in iron but once I get Vit B12 shot, my appetite increases tremendously. I have more energy but I end up eating more too. Does this happen to anyone here? Please let me know. Thnks!
-
Thnks that's interesting. I am reading about it online and when we are deficient and are anemic are appetite is low. When we get the b12 shot, our energy levels go up as well as our metabolism and the appetite also goes up. But it doesn't stay like this for a long time. Everytime I get the shot, my appetite goes up, I work out better and I get my period.
-
Thnks but I am talking specifically about b12 shots not pills or sublingual. The shots are high doses of b12.

I don't understand why are women so critical of each other? Why not be supportive and say, hey good job and continue doing what you are doing, or hey can I help you in anyway. I am sick and tired of being criticize by women constantly. I have heard some of my so call girlfriends saying, oh yeah if you lose some more weight, even 20 more pounds, you will get the guy you want. I am thinking, do you know what I have been through and what I am going through. So far I am proud of myself, I was 210 and have lost 57 pounds and now I am down to 153. With my height being 5 feet, I should be at around 120-130. I am almost 5 months out from my RNY and I have to work really hard to lose the weight. Working out 3-4 times a week, eating the right foods, having a food diary and staying motivated is not easy but heck I went down this path to make my life better. But being criticize for not reaching the goal as yet is just hurtful. I feel bad for women who pass judgements like this...I feel that they are insecure and can not see other women happy. I would never criticize another woman, matter of fact I would motivate them to eat right and exercise which we are all doing. I believe if I can do it, anyone can do it. Even a man who is super over weight who I am trying to help with the surgery process say to me, oh if you lost another 20 pounds you will be so hot. Why not say, hey good job and keep at it. And mind you, his wife is not so thin herself... Just had to rant today...

Drinking Alcohol... It's not worth it!

Yes come and hangout with me. I love meeting new people and making friends. I bought a nice bottle of Chardonnay for the evening. Will just have a glass for the night -
Great tasting protein shakes? Need input for which are the best brands.

I love the gnc total lean 25 and muscle milk. It does the job for me and the flavor -
The other day I had a sushi roll that had brown rice and had a hard time getting it down. I ate the first 3 pieces and it was not comfy and then half hr later I worked on the last 3 pieces and it was hard getting it down. So now I just don't bother with it. Bread rice pasta potatoes are hard to get down. It feels so uneasy and I just hate the feeling. I took a bite of the udon last night and I felt really uncomfy. So I just stick to things that work and not experiment much. I also had RNY. But I would say best to not introduce rice if you don't have to you know what I mean?
-
I would say best to get a grill and a slow cooker. I don't eat rice and don't want to so I never use my rice cooker that I bought before surgery for my ex. Invest in something you will use for long term. You can steam your veggies on the stove or just get a steamer. Good luck!

Drinking Alcohol... It's not worth it!
RNBSN786 replied to Darianna75's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I def don't drink any carbonated stuff. I had a RNY so alcohol hits quicker than for sleevers due to the shorten intestines. So maybe sleevers end up drinking more to get the buzz. I have one glass of white wine and I am buzzed. Before surgery I would need couple of glasses. -
Dr. Fielding was my RNY surgeon and he was awesome. He would see me everyday after my surgery and I love his team. I love NYU but then I am a little bias cause I did my nursing school there lol. I will see Dr. Fielding this month for my 6 month follow up. Am down 60 pounds. I was 210 and now I am 150.

Drinking Alcohol... It's not worth it!
RNBSN786 replied to Darianna75's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Interesting how people gain weight when they drink. I have been drinking every weekend for the past 2 months but just on Fridays/Saturdays. I drink white wine or light cran and vodka. I end up losing weight the next day every time I drink. But then again I don't eat a lot of food that day either. But I have to tell you the buzz feels awesome. It does get me in trouble though where I am getting hit on by men all the time lol. I hate to say it but I enjoy drinking and before surgery I would rarely drink. And I am not addicted but like the buzz lol -
I have only tried 3 inch subway flat bread with turkey and I was desperate for food. Other than that I don't eat any fast foods. I don't know if I would ever try it cause we have options in NYC that are far better than fast foods and healthier. But if I had to choose I would eat chilli at Wendy's and if I had to have McDonalds I would have grilled chicken sandwich minus the bread. Hope this helps!

You know you've had WLS when ___________________ ! ! ! ^_^

I can finally wear heals for long periods of time and be able to walk around in the city and not get tired and look sexy. I can actually make my foods last longer than ever after the surgery. I am able to cross my legs cause my thighs are becoming thinner. I couldn't even cross my legs before. -
Thank you so much for the kind words. You are absolutely right, there are a lot of rude people out there and they will put others down to feel good about themselves. And best for us to stay away from unhappy people. And you are right, I need to be proud of myself and think positive. At times I just feel I might not get to my goal and have set such high expectations, instead I should be proud of myself and be thankful to God and this forum to get me through this process.

Thank you so much for the kind words...I am so glad that I get to come here and let it all out and I have people here who understand me and get what I am going through. You are right, people don't think before they say stuff and they just say it. You are right, I should have politely said something instead of just laughing it off cause I would never say such things to someone else. I would actually encourage the other person to continue doing what they are doing and tell them your happiness is really important. You are also right about changing the state of mind and feeling hot about myself vs. the body size. Thank you so much for your support..it means a lot to me!

You are absolutely right, I need to disregard the negative crap and drop these negative people from my life cause after all they are not adding any value . This guy who made a comment to me about my weight is having some serious issues with his marriage and his own weight and I feel sorry for him cause he has to put someone else down to feel good about himself. Isn't it sad that people have to put others down to feel good? I have never been like this where I would put someone down to feel good about myself; cause for me, making myself feel good is all dependent on me and taking care of me. It has nothing to do with others, you know what I mean? Why are people like that? why do they need to hurt others to feel good? I guess I will never understand that cause I have never been like this...
-
You are right, I should have said something but I was at a point thinking, wow you have the nerves to say this to me and you cant even look at yourself first. I just smiled and said to my friend yeah sure whatever..and the man who made the comment to me, oh if I lose 20 more pounds, I will be hot..I said to him, you know what I am actually much happier now than I have ever been and if I dont lose more, I am ok with that. But inside I was feeling, wow am I not good enough where someone has to say such hurtful things? At times, people dont have a filter in their mouth and when they such things, I am thinking, wow there is so much jealousy out there. But I do need to learn to be more assertive and not be so nice all the time..

This sounds like a lawsuit. Time to take them to court...

I don't care for soda and have not touched it since a sip I took a few weeks after my surgery which was early April. Now I don't crave it and don't care for it. On the other hand, for the last few months I have been having one cup of coffee a day with Splenda and a dash of cream. My surgeon said it was ok after 3-4 months post op. I don't think more than a cup. So am ok with that. I do feel at times that I am bouncing all over due to the caffeine lol

almost 2 month out and stalled
RNBSN786 replied to clowntrigger2k's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Are your inches coming off? Are you also working out? I have also stalled for sometime but i have been working out regularly and my inches are coming down cause the clothes are fitting loosely now. Which is a good sign. My nut said don't focus on the numbers on the scale so much cause you are building muscles and stay focused on meeting the protein goal of 80grams. I advice you to get a piece of clothing that you want to fit into or is a little tight now and try it on every week and then you will slip right into it. And that's happening to me now and thankfully I am not freaking out cause I usually would. -
I ended up in the ER due to constipation. My nut told me to take gentle iron which won't cause constipation and take flaxseed oil and colace if needed. Believe me I have been going regularly daily without any issues. I also add benefiber in my yogurt every morning and I also have a protein shake daily which also helps me regulate. So try flaxseed oil, gentle iron and colace. Good luck!

RNY 7/31- Feeling extremely regretful
RNBSN786 replied to jgarcia323's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry you had complications but it doesn't mean that this surgery is bad. Don't get me wrong I did have regrets the first month or so and it's called buyers remorse but that's also cause it's a new lifestyle. Anything new takes time to adjust. So you have to have faith in your judgement. Unfortunately in your situation you had a complications and are on blood thinners but that's for betterment so that way you don't have any clots again. The percentage of people who have complications is very small and unfortunately you fall in that category. WLS is a lifestyle change and it's for people like myself couldn't do it on my own. I rather save myself from heart, kidney, liver, etc issues by having RNY. And I feel great and glad I did this and would do it again if I had to. Am glad that my life has change drastically for the better. I am an advocate for WLS. I pray that you get well and bounce back quickly which you will and continue learning about RNY cause you will learn something new everyday. -
New and looking for advice Bypass vs Sleeve
RNBSN786 replied to Butterflymomof2's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Keep in mind that not everyone will dump. It's a 50/50 thing. I did RNY and I am happy with my results. Don't regret it. I did dump a few times but it doesn't happen all the time but then again I don't eat sweets either. Good luck! -
All my proteins are in liquid and that's the only way it goes down. Even then I struggle...I bought a slow cooker and made pull chicken and it was def worth it. I prefer minced meats vs tough and rough ones.

I am actually starting my APCNP (adult primary care np) at NYU this fall. I did my BSN at NYU and for me having to do a NP program adds a lot of value of what I want to do in the long run. But currently I am single and have no kids so it's easier to go to school. Even if you can take one class a semester it makes a huge difference. That's how I look at it to be honest. What program are you in at Drexel? How is there nursing school? And is it online?
