    question

Don't worry we are all in the same boat. I am 4.5 months out and I still struggle with food. I don't eat bread, Pasta, rice or potato. I tried them early on and didn't like it and it feels very weird. So I have stopped eating all of it completely. I don't miss it at all. Fruits I don't eat much. Might have half a banana in my shake but that's like maybe once a week. I had some cherries and blueberries but I don't eat much of it cause of the sugars. I do have ground meats like chicken, turkey or beef. Tuna I had early on but didn't like it too much. I will have sashimi no rice time to time. I eat a lot of Greek yogurt, Beans, Protein shakes, cheese, just started to have spinach and that also doesn't always work and I have egg beaters. I can't get regular eggs down and chicken has to be moist or I can't eat it. I also don't drink milk. Have soy milk sometimes. Best to stick with what works for you. Cause it's different for everyone.

    Hit Onederland Today!

Thank you so much for the definition. Now it makes sense
  5. Oh yes can't forget the sex part lol. I miss having sex and now that I am 55lbs lighter I would love to give it a try but I am ok waiting it out until I reach 130 and I am 155 right now. Sex improves a lot after weight loss. Oh I would also be happy to get some nice sexy lingerie too my arms are still problematic.
  6. 10 things: - Reach my weight goal (120-130) - Buy a house - Find a guy and get married - Have kids - Go back to school for my masters in nursing and become a nurse practitioner - Travel - Switch jobs (which will come a lot quicker than above things) - Move closer to my parents to take care of them ( this will happen a lot quicker too) For now I think this is it. Am happy now also and will be even more happier once I accomplish things listed above.

    OMG

You are right it's the hardest thing to do but you can do it. All you have to say to yourself this is for my health my body and it's a change of lifestyle. I had protein shakes for 10 days pre-op and I had clear soups and I did it. Lost 10 lbs before surgery and had my RNY. Don't get me wrong, it was hard but not impossible. Good luck and have faith in yourself! You can do it!

    Super frustrated

Do not get frustrated. Main thing is that you have to focus on your protein intake and walking and getting some exercise. Are you following your docs regiment? Keep this is mind that everyone loses weight differently and it does come off in time. Also it took yrs to put on and it will take time to come off. Best way to be successful is to stay on track, do what your doc says, be accountable, take your vitamins, have a food diary (at least I do), stay calm, be grateful to God and do not compare your results to others. These things have worked for me and still working. So hang in there and be patient.
  10. I started my process in dec 2013, 4 visits with my surgeon, last visit early march. I had endoscopy done in feb, nutrition and psych clearance in jan and regular doc visit and blood work in feb, last visit at the surgeon in early march, docs submitted and approved march 21 and had surgery the 31. It all depends on your insurance.
  11. Mine got approved on march 21 and I had my surgery march 31. It moved pretty quickly.
  12. Mine was 4 supervised visit with my surgeon or 6 visits to my doc. So I started to see my surgeon and my first visit was dec, jan, feb, march and then they submitted my paper work, was approved march 21 and had my surgery march 31. So yes it has to be a month apart.
  13. I am ready to help. If there are posts that are redundant and I am lazy to respond then I just move along. I don't let it get to me. No point in getting all worked up. We are here to help each other and that's how I look at it. Besides if I don't help then I am doing injustice to my own profession. So if anyone needs help, email me: st1614@nyu.edu God bless!

    Opinions on protein pasta?

I don't eat pasta at all and don't crave it. But before surgery I didn't eat much to begin with. But there are pastas out there that are made of whole grains that are pretty decent. I don't know the protein content in them.

    exercise time of day

I work out after work sometime around 7-8pm. Prefer mornings but with work, it's hard to get up at 4am to work out. But I also walk a lot through out the day. We have no choice but to walk in NYC. I will walk blocks after blocks to get where I need to go. I will only take a cab or the train when it's necessary. I do need to step on the weight training and core exercises. My only issue is that I am low in iron so I get tired very quickly.

    Post-Op Sweets

Early on I had sugar free Popsicles and sugar free jello and sugar free pudding. And for me the protein shakes took care of the sweet tooth. Now that I am 4.5 months out, I will have skinny cow or weight watchers ice cream once in a while but predominantly my shakes take care of the sweet part. Matter of fact it's too sweet for me at times. After the surgery I don't crave sweets anymore. If you put salmon and dessert in front of me, I will eat the salmon. Before surgery it was the dessert first. So with time your taste buds change, your mind set changes and your self control becomes better. Also your relationship changes with food. At least that's what has happened to me.

    Snack time!

Pb2 stands for peanut butter. I don't know what 2 is...pb2 is in powder form vs regular peanut butter. Much much healthier for you then peanut butter by itself.

    Do you see your progress?

People around me notice and say I look great but my mind still thinks I am over weight. I am 5 feet, was 210 and now 155. I had surgery march 31 2014. I was 14/16 and now I am 8/10, xl to l/m. I see the difference in my clothing but in the mirror I still look huge. Even in the train when I sit down, I don't need a lot of space anymore like I used to before. I can squeeze in between 2 people and sit comfortably. But still my mind is not there yet. You know what I mean?
  20. That's still pretty good. I have faith in you that you will def go back to 135-145. Just have to tweak your intake and add some work out and you will def get there.

    Snack time!

I was initially skeptical and once I bought pb2 and added it to my shakes, I was in heaven. I didn't like pb before surgery and then after surgery I started to eat pb by itself and then read on the forums about pb2 and made the purchase. I also got chia seeds and yet to try it in my shakes. If you like pb you will love pb2. Gnc also has it for cheaper price. I got mine on amazon. There is chocolate pb2 and regular pb2 and honestly both taste the same.

    Snack time!

My snack consists of string cheese, cottage cheese, mixed nuts, Greek yogurt, blueberries or cherries. That's really about it. If I need in between meals and if I am at home, I tend to also make a nice Protein shake with PB2, half a banana and benefiber. It all depends on my mood and where I am at. Your Snacks sound and look good
  23. This is a great thread and so informative. Really appreciate everyone's input. Ctrose, you were 220 and what's your weight now? And you gained 40 back from what you lost? I am 4.5 months out and I was 210 and now I am 155. I am happy with the results but I want to keep up with what I am doing. I don't eat bread, Pasta, rice or sweets. My body doesn't want it anymore... In your early loss, what was your food intake like? Just curious to know how your journey has been in the last 10 yrs. I am confident that you will get back to your goal. You are very determined and that makes a huge difference.

    Do you tolorate Subway?

I can't do bread, rice, pasta or potatoes. But a few weekends ago I was really hungry and had to eat something. So I had a 3 inch flatbread with turkey and cheese. I ate some of the flatbread but it felt really uncomfortable so I just ate the turkey and cheese. I really don't care for bread and I don't miss it. So subway is something I would probably not eat again unless I am super hungry and I would skip the bread.
