It is possible, believe it or not. Even though it’s difficult I try to not weigh everyday. A lot of the time it makes no sense to me how it can go up and then down with identical diet/exercise/water. Our bodies are still healing and using all of the nutrients we give them as they need it. Very hard to wrap your head around!

Pretty well. I lost almost 10 on preop and 10 since surgery.

Hi! I’m the same as you. No trouble taking pills at all and I can drink liquids easily. I really don’t know what makes that difference for folks. It will be 2 weeks tomorrow since surgery for me (3/11) and I still have very bad pain from one of my incisions. Also, responding to your other post....it took me about a week to get rid of all the fluids from surgery. Hang in there it will leave you!

Sleeve revision to bypass
claricey replied to Colorchic's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
My experience is similar to bariatric barb. I'm 1 week out from surgery and I have had no issues with GERD. Its' a wonderful feeling!!! -
Best of luck tomorrow! Check in when you can

It would be! My in-laws are in Wisconsin and we travel back there a few times per year. That's about as close as I usually get to your area
-
I'm in NJ about 25 miles outside of Philadelphia.

I would say you are past the point of these early issues if you haven’t experienced them yet. Everyone is different and this is quite a journey! Keep up the great work!! Are you walking regularly?
-
I know what you mean! Whenever I feel the incision pain flare up or a “hard” swallow of water hurt...I think the same thing. This is what I asked for!

Same here. Surgery on 3/13 and still happening Checking in to see how things are going. My situation subsided a day or two ago. Hoping you’re feeling better!

I’ve also had the shakes sit in my stomach for a while and cause over- fullness. I tried a small sip of Water after an ounce of Protein to help it go down. Seemed to work. What are your targets for protein and water at this point? Woohoo we are 1 week into this!
-
Sounds like we are all having similar issues. These first two weeks are the hardest as we try to get in our fluids and protein. My doc wasn’t kidding it IS a full time job. My program has 2 high protein shakes and 3, 2 ounce meals of full liquids/puréed food. Last night I took 1.5ounces of chicken a tbsp of low fat ricotta and a tbsp of tomato sauce and put it in the food processor with a dash of broth then heated it in the microwave. Tasted like heaven! 😊 Anyone else have any yummy ideas for 2 ounces of protein?

How is everyone feeling? Tomorrow is 1 week since surgery and I still require pain meds for my largest incision. The muscle there is just on fire. No gas pains anymore. Eating what feels like a lot but right on plan. 75grams protein (full liquids/puréed) and 64-80 oz. water. Would love to hear from folks!

I’m so sorry to hear this! I hope they get everything addressed properly at the ER. Thinking of you and will pray for complete quick healing! Please check back in when you can to let us know how you’re doing.

Anyone else have (sorry for tmi) very loose stool almost like diarrhea? Surgery was Monday 3/11 and I’ve had it since yesterday. Will call Dr tomorrow. Also has anyone weighed themselves? I figured since I’ve had nothing but liquids and they’re going through me I’d have lost something. Well folks I am 6 pounds UP. I’m not discouraged yet as I am still swollen. But it was a bit of a kick in the shorts.

Hi! Just got home today. Had lots of scar tissue from previous surgery so it took about 4 hours. I was really zonked out on anesthesia until last night. All went well and I’m just dealing with managing the pain. As long as I get ahead of it I’m ok! I have 6 small incisions. I know in a few days it will get better. On clears till Friday when I see the nutritionist to advance my diet to puréed.

I am so sorry to hear you had to deal with these issues. You have been so positive and worked so hard...just please know you will get past this and be better than ever!!! Holding in prayer!

Wrapping up my first week of preop diet. I’ve had a few “moments” of wanting to gnaw on my arm but they’ve passed quickly. Down 8 pounds and feeling better! Less pressure in my lower back and my arthritic knees. March 11th cannot get here fast enough! Firmly planted on the losers bench!

Recidivist, you ARE doing the right thing. Good health is invaluable. I'm 53 and struggling with issues that are compounded by all the extra weight I have. I have peace knowing that as I become lighter and healthier that my arthritic knees may not hurt as much and the pressure on my spine and the leg and foot pain I have will get better. I have my eye so dead set on the prize of feeling better in general that I can't let anxiety creep in. I wish you peace as you get closer to your special day. You are doing GREAT and will continue to. The surgery will be a blip on the radar and you will be into healthy mode and loving life, I just know it!

I'm 60. Anyone else over 50 doing RNY?
claricey replied to Pam Peltz's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm 53 and doing great on day 3 of my 2 week pre-op diet. My hubby and I adopted our children a little later in life...so I have an 11 and 13 year old and I need to be able to keep up with them and be around for them in a vital active way. My mobility has tanked over the last 8 months due to arthritic knee and leg issues from a pinched nerve. I can't walk without pain. I NEED this to live and to live well. I have lots of travel to do yet and many things in this world to show my kids. Without this surgery I fear I wouldn't have many good years left nor the ability to do any of it. -
It will but we got this! Day one and it got rough around dinner but we made it!!! I’m allowed a small bit of lean protein along with all the salad and vegetables so that helped a lot! On to day 2!
