Depending on how your body is holding onto water and waste that is definitely normal. It doesn't seem to follow any logical pattern but will even itself out eventually. Easy to say but I know it super hard to deal with. Just keep doing everything you know is correct and healthy and it will go back down.

You are doing great!!!! Congrats on all your hard work. IT IS PAYING OFF!!!

This group/thread has made me feel much more "normal" than I did over the past few weeks. I'd really like to keep hearing updates from everybody as this type of support is definitely helping me. Not every weight loss journey is sunshine and roses and this is hard work with what seems to be slow payoff. BUT, as so many have mentioned the scale is going in the right direction because we're sticking with what we know is right. Even though our heads are saying what the heck, body....get with the program and step it up! -

I've only lost 6 pounds in the last 4 weeks. This is so difficult for me to comprehend. When I had my sleeve (5 yrs ago) I was dropping weight like crazy. I understand the body needs time to recover from surgery and "figure out" whats happening. But like so many have said here...its almost impossible to wrap my head around how eating under 800 calories per day can not result in the scale moving lower faster than it is for so many of us. Dare I say it...I'm almost beginning to think...why did I do this? Surgery was very difficult on me and took me a solid 5 weeks to recover from. OK rant over. -

5 weeks out from sleeve to RNY revision and I ate a mini chocolate chip muffin. I didn’t burst into flames or dump or have any side effects. Kind of wish I did. But that muffin tasted wonderful. -

Even though today is a fasting holiday for me I need 3 small meals with 1/2 a protein shake to stay healthy. I'll be way below my calories but I'll make up for it tomorrow! Breakfast: Triple zero yogurt - 2.25 ounces, Whipped cottage cheese with cinnamon - 1 ounce Lunch : Yellowfin tuna - 2 ounces and 1 ounce sauteed mixed veggies (leftover from our anniversary dinner last night) Dinner: cooked shrimp and steamed green beans 78g protein, 28g carbs, 7g fat -
I'm 5 weeks out from surgery. My NUT just told me to increase my calories to minimum of 800 per day as I've been plateaued. She is suggesting 4 meals per day at approx 3 ounces each. Today my plate looks like this: B: 1% cottage cheese with cinnamon with a small piece of fresh pear. Mid morn: Hard boiled egg with lf mayo and mustard (basically a devilled egg) L: Home made turkey chili with beans and turkey jerky Mid aft: Premier Protein Shake Dinner: Boneless/Skinless chicken thighs and steamed green beans 87 grams protein/74 grams carbs/39 grams fat

Sounds like you have a good plan!! You will get to the softs and eventually all foods. It's kind of scary transitioning but once you do it it becomes pretty easy to plan your meals! -
About 3 ounces per meal and I was told to increase my meals to 4 per day as my calories are too low according to my NUT. I need at least 800 at this point and I'm 5 weeks out.

I just received the date of my sleeve to RNY revision. I will go in on Monday 3/11 and am very excited and hopeful for this surgery. Anyone else get a March date?

I'm 60. Anyone else over 50 doing RNY?

Anyone here have issues with ability to exercise? My right knee is bone on bone (and trust me I’m not ready for another surgery anytime soon!) and walking is difficult and painful. I had hoped dropping the almost 30 pounds would help and it did marginally but I’m kind of sad and discouraged by this. I want to go and do so much. ☹️ -
I found myself with zero energy and exhaustion while I was stalling. My nut told me to increase my carbs by having a real Gatorade and some GF whole grain crackers and that’s when it the stall broke. My body was holding onto everything. Good luck at the doc and let us know how you’re doing!
-
One of my issues is that my right knee needs replacing and it is so painful to walk. That is all I’ve been cleared to do at this point. However with a few fewer pounds on me its slightly less painful so I pushed myself to go for it tonight. I only made 15 minutes and had to switch to recumbent bike and then hand weights. It’s so discouraging that the knee is preventing me from doing what I want to do after going through this revision but I am trying to make peace with it.

I'm curious how many calories you're eating and what your protein intake is. My protein is supposed to be between 74 and 90 and she hasn't really given me a calorie goal. Instead they are just concentrating on protein, water and eating nutritious foods. My stall just broke as well. Lost about 3 pounds in two weeks. I needed to add in complex carbs to break the cycle!
-
Found out my issue with energy was due to low blood sugar and dehydration. My body has been holding onto every last bit of energy and water it can. I've been told to dilute a regular gatorade with water throughout the day and start introducing some high fiber carbs like whole grain, gluten free crackers. I did that yesterday and wow, what a difference. So once I get things reset I'm hoping to see the weight loss begin to ramp up again.

I can definitely in the way my clothes fit and also my face and feet. I can wear shoes now that I couldn't squeeze into just prior to surgery! (I had a lot of pain walking previously in my feet and my knees/back.) I still have a long way to go to really feel that I look different. The incision pain i had lasted up until this past week. Because of that I haven't been regularly exercising. But I'm going to start 30 minutes a day now because this slow down in weight loss is so annoying! Are you doing any exercise yet??

Good luck jb1809!!! Hoping for a great outcome for you! God Bless! -
Congratulations! I'm almost 1 month out and starting to feel like myself. Will transition off of soft foods later this week. Hoping I can get all my protein in. It's tough. Have you had any issues???

Revision to rny
claricey replied to dreamingofasleeve's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I have about 70 more pounds to lose. To be honest, GBP seems so much easier for me than the sleeve because I was still quite hungry after my sleeve but after bypass I have to remind myself to eat. I know you are going to do well and love your choice to go with the revision. Not having that burning sensation in my chest and throat has been life changing for the better! Good luck and keep us posted! -
Revision to rny
claricey replied to dreamingofasleeve's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had my revision from sleeve to RNY on 3/11. I took 4 weeks off to recuperate and that was the best thing to do. I’m 53 so it was harder to bounce back from surgery than in previous years. I have no hunger and NO GERD. It’s an amazing feeling not to have that. I’m down 26 pounds and feel better each day. -
This is really great information and l can’t believe with all I’ve been through that I didn’t realize it. I do have to make sure I get my daily walk in every day. I have been so tired that I have skipped a few days the past two weeks. Thanks for the link!
-
I don’t know why I didn’t realize it until I saw you type it. This isn’t my first rodeo (band/sleeve/now RNY). LOL. You are so right. Thanks!!!

I am 26 days out from surgery. Still on soft foods. My weight loss has really slowed down though. I only lost 2 pounds this past week. I’m on program 100% so I’m annoyed by this. Anyone else notice a slowdown between weeks 3 and 4?
-
I too have no hunger. What a feeling!!! Surgery was 3/11 and other than day one in the hospital I haven’t had any issues with any of the soft foods I’ve tried so far. However, I did have one issue when on puréed...my friend made an entire meal for us to help out. It was pork chops. I put 1.5 ounces in the processor with broth to make it smooth. Must not have been soft enough because half way through I got a tightness in the center of my chest that radiated across both breasts. I went for a walk and it passed in about 10-15 minutes. That episode was it. So you are not alone...everyone is experiencing this a little different. Keep up the good work!!
-
Oh I’m so sorry to hear you’re having these issues. You must have been dehydrated. Is pain still bad? I know I needed to take the pain meds for about 12 days after due to the incision pain. Hopefully they can give you something to calm down your stomach so you can start drinking your water and protein. Praying things get better for you quickly!
