I was sleeved on 3/17 and scheduled to go back on 4/1 - my sleeve was ready but I picked up a cold from the kids so I didn't go back until 4/2. I also have a sedentary job - and I have found that being at work has helped with the food thing because of structure of office hours. Being at home and on weekends, I find that lose track of time and forget to eat. I also find that I am not tired or run down - then I am sleeping a lot better since the sleeve.

Pre-op Testing at Hospital Mi Doctor
TenderTummy replied to vsg_joanna's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
My doctor was Dr. Cabrera. My drain was in 2 days and out before I left the hospital - Dr. Lopez leaves the drains in for 4 days. Pain level was fine but I walked a lot - which is key to the gas.bloating pain. I was definitely nervous but everyone really takes such good care of you that I did not need to be. I didn't have any extra fees but one lady in our group did because when they went in they needed to do a hernia too. I am losing about half a pound a day - not as fast a lot of people - but I am really pleased with my progress! -

Pre-op Testing at Hospital Mi Doctor
TenderTummy replied to vsg_joanna's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Good Morning - I was sleeved on 3/17 at Mi Doctor. First they took blood - got it on the first stick and did BP. Then we went upstairs and we did hgt/wgt and an EKG. The intern spoke to me about my cholesterol which was high and then it was nap time until surgery. Easy, peasy. BTW - don't forget to bring slippers to walk around in. Also, go to Barnes & Noble and get one of the SparkNotes hard cards titled, Medical Spanish. The night nurses don't speak English as well as the day staff. They are very friendly and nice though. I was very pleased with how well I was taken care of! -
I am hoping that I have a similar outcome. My migraines require Imitrex shots, which I have to ration because the insurance company limits how many you can buy per month to four. Cannot wait for the surgery (March 17th) - I will probably be suffering right up until then - in fact I have one coming on now, But the end is sight - so I am hurting and hopeful - LOL - sounds like it should be the title of a chapter in Shades of Grey.

Surgery in Mexico
TenderTummy replied to Terry Poperszky's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
That is one of the few negative experiences that I have heard about - that poor woman. While I am comfortable with the level of research and investigation that I have done -- what was really disturbing was the comments of the people at the bottom. They were so intolerant! That is one of the reasons that I am keeping my decision to have WLS to myself. People can be so mean. Having said that - thank you Terry for posting that link - I want to go into this - eyes WIDE open. Good, bad and ugly. -
Getting sleeved in 24hrs-nervous, scared, and an emotional wreck :(!

Thanks for the reply! Its funny that you mentioned food - I wanted to "practice" eating as if I was sleeved already so that it is not such a shock. Last night I bought a bunch of different shakes to test drive - the Lucerne Mocha one was good, the chocolate one just okay. Where did you get the Oh Yeah shakes? -
Severe migraines, what to do?
TenderTummy replied to Bronco0605's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have migraines and use imitrex self-injectors and percocet. Love the imitrex and hate the percocet, but here they are just the opposite - passing out the percocet like it is nothing and hoarding the imitrex. I am hoping that I can get imitrex in TJ when I go for my surgery. I have a RX here but the insurance company limits me to 4 shots a month and I can have 4 migraines in a week when the weather is changeable or I am under a lot of stress. Has anyone gone to the pharmacies in TJ to get imitrex? -

Congratulations - 20 lbs is amazing! If you don't mind my asking, have you gone back to work yet? How long did it take you to get back into your routine? Thanks in advance! -
I am getting sleeved by Dr. Cabrera on the 17th too! Very excited and worried but mostly excited. My BMI is "only" 33. My biggest fear is that I will get there and have a BMI of 29.99 and they will send me home! My coordinator is CIndy and has been a blessing! It will be a life-changing Happy St. Patrick's Day for me - and not because of the green beer!
