Protien shakes & other drinks
vsg_joanna replied to Bellasarrah's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I ordered protein samples from Nashua Nutrition and I totally recommend doing this before buying a whole tub. I tried the Syntrax Nectar Chocolate Truffle because everyone seems to be crazy over it.... honestly this stuff is magical. I could totally do two weeks of pre-op if I could drink that three times a day! Also tried the Syntrax Cappuccino and that was great as well! -
Hi lylabelle- from what I've read, if you pay cash then you can pay everything when you arrive in Mexico, but if you pay credit you need to call to make the payment at least a week prior to surgery.

Pre-op Sugar Addict... Worried
vsg_joanna replied to vsg_joanna's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's so encouraging to hear, although, I did hear that this isn't the case for everyone... which is why I'm still worried. You're definitely one of the lucky ones! I always wish I was one of those people that could have one square of chocolate and not the whole bar+ Hopefully one day!! -
My flight comes in at 1:41pm on Monday, 4/7. It was actually not easy finding flights with the correct departure/ arrival times

April sleevers in mexico
vsg_joanna replied to kledislynn's mommy's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I'll be at the Marriott until April 12th. We should all have a meetup there and discuss our experience/plans/ goals/etc. I'm getting more excited day by day... I think I might go through my closet too... maybe it'll help keep my mind off of food. -
I want to eat everything!
vsg_joanna replied to karinbuck's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh god.. me too... I had Krispy Kreme this morning and now I feel like I'm going to vomit.... ... also the guilt is killing me. My pre-op diet starts in two weeks and I already gave up coffee to get that over with. I am struggling soooo hard with little funeral parties for all my favorites. LOL I feel like a crazy person!! I REALLY wanted to practice dealing with binge urges and head hunger, but it's actually harder than before I decided to get surgery! WTF!? -
Starting liquid diet again
vsg_joanna replied to donaboss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ThNk you!!! I was just gonna say that. Who said we were eating junk food? I am just trying to say that I can eat more than 4 ounces. I don't hAve to take sips and I only drink Water, no sugar liquids. Did I try pizza? Yes I have . Can I eat more than 4 ounces? Yes! All I eat is healthy food which doesn't bother my stomach. I know I started with 213 and my doc said I won't lose as fast as others who are heavier and I was stuck at 178-180 for like 3 weeks so I started my liquid diet again to help the weight loss. Ohh and my last doc check up apparently I have this bacteria I forgot what is called but it makes u bloated and slows the weight loss. Next month is my 3 month check up and they will be giving me antibiotics. It's funny how people judge others so fast. Just bc I can't lose 50lbs in one month does not mean I'm eating junk! and I understand mamato2. Thank you for answering her question for me ... We are on the same boat. I don't think people were trying to judge.. I think we all need to be brutally honest with ourselves and each other. You said that you tried pizza and that all you are eating is healthy food... both of those statements cannot be true at the same time. I'm NOT saying you are lying about eating healthy, but I'm saying that maybe less healthy things snuck into your diet without you realizing because that is wayyy too easy to do. We all know that. -

vsg_joanna replied to vsg_joanna's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery

Buying Medications in Mexico
vsg_joanna replied to vsg_joanna's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Okay I actually found the answer to my own questions- seems like if you need a prescription in the US you need one in Mexico. I'll try to get a copy from my doctor! -

Christy at Mexico Bariatric Center - Dr. Lopez
vsg_joanna replied to MissCK's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Hi MissCK- I'm actually scheduled with Dr. Lopez through Christy for VSG on April 8th. I have done some research and found a few reviews for Mexico Bariatric- did not find any horror stories! One thing I'm sure about is that it's definitely not a scam- don't know how it compares to the other brokers such as 'A Lighter Me', but I'm sure it's just fine. Hopefully someone else replies that has gone through Mexico Bariatric so they could provide some insight -
Btw Mobee... $300 dollars for a letter! I'd be offended if my doctor told me that... maybe you should look for another pcp because clearly priorities are not right...

Hi everyone, I'm from Montclair and having my surgery in Tijuana on April 8. My insurance doesn't cover surgery and there's no way I could afford it in the US in top of the student loans I pay...

What are some of your goals?
vsg_joanna replied to Shortcake's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hopefully one day I'll be comfortable enough in clothing to not be constantly adjusting/pulling/tugging at my clothes... it drives me mad!!! Also crossing my legs. I do the fat girl cross right now and its only comfortable for so long so I have to keep switching legs! -
OMG this is awesome- glad that I found others getting sleeved at Hospital MI around the same date. My date is set for April 8th- put the deposit down this morning and buying plane tickets tonight! EDIT: ellj77- I'm actually getting surgery with Dr. Lopez too. I decided to start preparing myself mentally so it's not too overwhelming. I ordered supplements online and stocked up on soups/ jello/ SF drink mixes, etc I already have Protein mix, but I might get sample packets online for variety. Also, I decided to start replacing one meal a day with a Protein shake... maybe next week I'll practice not drinking with meals because I know that will be tough. Sorry for the rambles- I'm just so scared and excited! What have you guys started?

Hi Cassandra- I'm hoping to get my surgery the week before you! April 7th-ish in Tijuana too! Not sure which doctor I want yet... need to do more research. Perhaps if you arrive before I leave we could meet up?! I sent in my medical questionnaire and hopefully it's approved soon! Once that's approved I will schedule the date =)
