It's always good to get things out. Making lifelong commitments are difficult and I can only assume it's normal to have good and bad days. I'm glad you were able to verbalize your frustration - good luck!

@@Krystal0528 Did your nutritionist give you a protein goal? I'm 5ft 4in and my goal is 66 grams of protein a day (I think it's based on height, but take that with a grain of salt). If the nut didn't, I'd suggest calling your doctor or nutritionist Monday

I'm feeling very hungry today and I'm having a hard time not eating ... I'm only 3 weeks post op so it's not like I really can eat anyways.

Full Liquids to Pureed – ideas please?!
shahada replied to NewMe052014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I made mashed potatoes, butternut squash, and reallllly soft carrots today. I'm hoping to use these over the next few days so I don't get sick of refried beans. I also like Laughing Cow cheese wedges with tomato soup. -
I'm not but I sure wish I was!!!

Depression and Surgery
shahada replied to embracing skinniness's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I too am on depression and anxiety medication, and while I'm not a Kaiser insurance holder, it did not come up at all through the process of approval. I was asked about it briefly in my psych eval and that was it. Good luck! -
Do you miss anything about being Fat? (You're Old Body)
shahada replied to HalloweenBaby24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@HalloweenBaby24 A good question to ask for sure ... I'm still very new post-op, but 2 year ago I was at goal weight and I remember how amazing I felt then. I did not miss being fat for a moment, but looking back, I wish I had been in therapy to help me cope with the unexpected things (more attention from men and how to deal with that, realizing my identity was more than what the world physically saw, and how to define myself past my size). I'm in therapy this time around and I already feel more confident facing the issues. I too am young and did not go into surgery because I was facing myriad health issues; I went into surgery knowing I could stave off those health issues and future pain. I didn't have a problem with the conveniences mentioned above, but I guarantee that is only because I'm young! Why wait until I'm older and struggling? I am very familiar with the body positive movement (one of my favorite blogs is themilitantbaker.com). I agree that the message from the body positive movement can and must continue post surgery/weight loss. We can be fat and confident just as much as we can be healthy and confident Good luck along your journey! -
"10+ Reasons I Love My Ugly Body" blog post

What a fabulous blog post <3 And a great blog!!! Thanks for the share!!! -
I am 6 days out and I cannot make myself drink protein shakes. They make me gag. Adding unflavored protein to soups or anything is impossible - the texture makes me gag. Mostly, it's the sweetness that is really overwhelming me. Anyone with any advice? I feel great otherwise, but I just cannot get the hang of the protein down at all!

Keeping protein shakes down?
shahada replied to shahada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone for your responses and suggestions. I added some nutritional yeast (8g Protein per 16g of yeast) to spaghetti sauce tonight and was able to keep it down, and feel pretty good! It's such a time of trial and error!! -
Way to go!! Looking fab!

I'm three days post op and having surgery complete feels so surreal! I've been waiting for this day and I cannot wait until the nausea passes I spent just one night In the hospital and I took everyone's advice: WALK. I walked a ton of laps around the hospital and it helped me burp a lot of gas up. I used pain medication one time at the suggestion of my nurse to ensure I was feeling gas discomfort not internal pain (it was just gas). My incisions feel great honestly. I ended up with 5. I'm still bloated from all the darn fluids but I'm okay to be sipping on Water. I'll be trying Soup in a little - we'll see how that goes! I'm definitely gaggy/nauseous but my dr gave me Reglan to take 4 times a day. It's helping a little for sure. I just cannot believe I'm on this end of recovery!! I have two weeks of fluids, 2 weeks of purées, then 4 weeks of soft foods. Not feeling hungry or thirsty but I'm feeling gurgles in my tummy finally. Hope y'all are well!!
