Hey group, good thread. I was banded 10-31-2007 and feel wonderful...down 17 lbs and looking forward to another 60 or so. I am really trying to stick to the dr. orders about eating, but it does get frustrating. Today I forgot to eat or drink for the most part of the day. Just busy at work and I will really have to watch that. I was hungry when I got home. Ate Capt. D's grilled flounder and green beans. Went down okay and didn't have the overstuffed feeling. I had a sugar free popsicle after walking for about 45 minutes in the local grocery store. My 2 grandsons were tempting me mercifully about all the good stuff on the shelves. Actually I wasn't tempted to badly knowing I was about to get a popsicle. My incision are healing nicely as far as I can tell. My port feels a little weird but I guess that is to be expected. I woke up lying on my stomach and realized it wasn't hurting so YEA!! Hang in there everyone and we will make it thru this better and slimmer people.

You will do great. I had my surgery 1 week ago today. I am doing really well. Down 8 lbs since surgery. Energy level good. Food is going down okay no real complaints. Good Luck!

Dr. Morton performed my surgery 10 31 07 at Baptist. Everything was great. He has a wonderful bedside manner and made me and my husband feel at ease asking questions. Two days out and I painted my dining room this morning. Good luck! I am down approximately 16 lbs since October 10.

Okay call me crazy but, I was banded on 10-30-07 and I painted my dining room this morning. The more I move the less sore I feel.

I am now 8 days away from surgery (if you don't count sleeping tonight). I am excited and can hardly weight (HA HA) to get rid of this wait (HA HA again) and it on with a healthy life. I have a very good support group and even when I tell someone about the upcoming surgery they seems to be excited for me. The biggest reaction I have is that "Why would you do that you're not fat". Well personally I call 103 pounds overweight "fat". My health problems have gotten to the point that is not about wearing smaller jeans anymore, it is about being around to see my granchildren's children. The Pre-Op diet is not as bad as I thought it was going to be although I do get hungry. Not sure how much weight I am suppose to loose during this phase but in the past 5 days I have lost about 6 1/2 pounds. YEA!! This site has been great and look forward to posting one of those weight lose things if I can figure out how to do it. Thanks for listening.

justwaitin2b banded in October and a bit scared
karlvr replied to justwaitin2b's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Karen, I am scared too. I am having my surgery on Halloween. I have researched the same as you and have some of the same doubts. The way I look at it is "what do I have to loose except the weight". I am trying to stay positive and pray for a good turn out after the surgery. My doctor assures me that if I follow the instructions and do my follow up that I will drop the weight. I plan to be at least 65 lbs. lighter by this time next year. I will be your friend so email me anytime you would like karlvr@yahoo.com . We can go through this together even if we are half way around the world from each other. I live a little north of Nashville, TN. -
:clap2:I have my pre op visit on Wednesday 10 17 07. I had to really fight with the insurance reviewers and my employer ending up overriding their decison DENIAL TWICE. And we are self insured. I am anxious and excited all at the same time. Concerned about the 2 week pre-op diet not about the surgery.

Halloween is the date! I have to be at the hospital at 6:30 am. I meet with the surgeon tomorrow for pre-op instructions. Really nervous and excited. Hope I can make it thru the next two weeks without a breakdown. :clap2::omg::kiss:faint:

Have you tried everything with your insurance company. I was denied twice and my company is self insured. Go Figure! Insurance company was not even involved and I still got denied.. Ask for a copy of you SPD for your plan and look real closely at what is covered. Don't just let someone tell you it is not a covered expense. You may be surprised. My surgery is set for Halloween. Good Luck!
