  1. My journey began in 2008. Through Kaiser Permanente I attended weekly classes for about 6 months after I got approved for weight loss surgery. Classes ended September 2008 and the entire time I thought I was going to get the Lap Band done. I met with my surgeon, Dr Zane in Harbor City, California in October and he told me that he would not do the Lap Band on me because he was beginning to reverse them. He gave me really bad reviews so since I was not morbidly obese (needed to lose 100 lbs), he recommended the Gastric Sleeve so that’s what I went with (I don’t regret it BTW). We set the date, February 6, 2009. Surgery day I weighed 242 lbs. I was in the hospital for 2 days. Because I had been educated for 6 months on how important it was to follow in the advice, thankfully I had no complications. I lost 19 lbs between February 6 and February 24!!!! By my second post op appointment in May, I had lost 40 lbs. About 6 weeks after surgery I began to go to the gym on a regular basis. I did cardio and zumba classes 4 times a week. In May I began to feel pain after I ate. For about a year and a half, I thought it was regular pain and I dealt with it. Until one day, I couldn’t take anymore…I was rushed in to the hospital….GALL STONES. Because of the rapid weight loss, I developed gall stones. I had surgery to remove my gall bladder/stones in October 2010. I weighed 146 lbs!!! For the next few years my weighed fluctuated from 145-150 lbs. Then I noticed I began to gain weight around June 2012. From there on I’ve gained about 15-20 lbs. For the last 6-8 months I’ve watched my food intake because I did noticed I was able to eat more. The last two months, I’ve added exercise to my regimen again. I still can’t lose weight. I’m here to seek support and to avoid from going back to the bad eating habits. HELP!!!!

    Regrets

Don't get discouraged and don't think that way. It's still too soon. Are you getting nauseous after you eat? Is it random? If it's after you eat, if helps if you inhale and exhale not too deep but just normal. Try to relax and just sip on your liquids. Don't use a straw!!!!! Through the straw you suck a lot of air through your mouth to your stomach so that can also cause nausea. I promise it'll get better and you'll love that you decided to get it done....! I do suggest that if the nausea continues, you let your doctor know. Not sure how much weight you've lost but it can also be your gallbladder giving you problems because of rapid weight loss. Keep an eye on that. Especially if you begin to get pain after you eat. Don't stress!! Enjoy the new you!!

    This is my story....

Thanks!!! Do you know if they stick to drinking only a certain amount of ounces? I ask because when I first got it done, I can only drink 2 ounces every 30 minutes.
  4. Thank you all! What's the 5:2 Diet? Anything else that you guys suggest as far as sample meals othen than going back to liquids? I've also started to weigh my food, I hope that helps.
  5. Hello, I'm seeking help to get my back on track. I've been struggling for the last two years. The last two years I've gained a total of 26 lbs back. I lose a pound here and I gain a pound there. The first step I took was to reduce my food intake. I noticed I was able to eat a little bit more so I reduced my portions. I don't have an issue with eating fast food so that's not my problem. I began to add exercise to my routine but I continued to gain weight. I was becoming obsessed with weighing myself everyday and every time I saw that I was not losing weight, that unmotivated me so as of September 2013, I haven't weighed myself because I'm scared. I've kept an eye on my weight through my clothes and of course, my food intake (as far as nutritional and portion control). I went back to get checked by the nutritionist as I do every year and he had me add more Protein to my diet. Which I have been doing. He also ran hormone test and thyroid test to make sure it wasn't a different problem. Everything came back normal. The last two months, I have added cardio exercise to my routine. I go to the gym 3-4 times a week and I do at least 30 minutes of Treadmill, Elliptical, or Bike. I had a personal trainer last year from January-May and she made me GAIN weight (muscle) but I never lost fat!!!! My nutritionist suggested I joined a support group to seek help and try to mirror different things to see what works best for me. Even though he wasn't too concern since he said that most people gain 15% back after 5 years. I'm concerned!!! I want to continue to lose weight to reach my ideal weight of 140 lbs. What could I be doing wrong? I've heard of people going back to eating liquids and purees, should I go that drastically again??
