Shannon, I am feeling the same the thing as you and also only two weeks from Band Day. I don't know if I am doing this correct but I have been having a popsicle at this time. Sometimes I have two. It is frightening, as I am afraid I will slip back to my old bad ways. I was watching my weight drop a pound everyday for nine days after Band Day, now I am at a stand still. Also having a big problem with the protein powder. Soon as I injest it I get this "BUBBLE" feeling in my tummy. Feels Like Im a baby who needs burped and having a colic attack.

I was surprised and dissapointed not to see Dr. Choban the day after my surgery and if she ever came in the recovery room, I was not aware of it. I wanted to ask her when I should schedule my fill date. Another Doctor by the name of Dr. Osbourne came in the day of discharge. I hate when they do that as I had no prior knowledge of this Dr. and had no relationship established with him. I wanted to see the Dr. I had chosen for my surgery. OK....I have gotten out some of my bitterness! -

Well, My sister and I have our Band dates. We will be going on the 19th. I am very excited, yet feel as if I am losing an old friend (food). Even though I know it will probably take care of my diabetes, blood preasure and cholesterol I feel sad and must keep reminding myself what my old friend has cost me and how much better I am going to feel when I am able to do all those things I havn't done in a long while. It sounds as if all of the recent banders are doing really well and you all are certainly motivating me. I have one question though. How much exercise are you all doing and how soon after your band days were you able to start? Also, is anyone from the East side Reynoldsburg area? -

Thanks for the welcome Greg. I have tried to read most of the posts on this thread. I will be having surgery with Mid Ohio and value this threads opinions and experiences. Also this group seems to be the most positive. I do not want to know about the bad things that happen with the Lap Band. I figure if I keep my mind cleared of the negatives, they won't happen. I found the posts of you walking down the corridors at Mt Carmel to be the most enlightening. I guess a full moon brightens up everyything, no matter where it happens. I am just trying to figure out how to put a robe on over an IV. Any suggestions? -

Thanks Special K for all the info. You are doing terrific with your band.I cannot even comprehend being full/satified with 800 calories. It seems like I am a botttomless pit and I hate to even think how many calories I consume in a day. . Charlene called my Sis back this afternoon and she is going to summit to Dr. Choban and get us all set up with a surgery date. I guess Medicare does not need pre-approval. I was thinking exactly what you said about going ahead and doing it alone but as things turn out we will get to do it together. I will take your good advice and not eat a heavy last meal the night before surgery and do it a few days before. And as I have read on this forum do the walking after surgery. I am so excited it just seems so dream like to me. -

I am so impressed with all the weight everyone is losing here. I can hardly contain myself waiting for a date. I got my approval a couple of days ago and received a call from Charlene saying she would set me up with a date(I believe that is what she said.) Who knows for sure as all I heard was I was approved....YIPEEE! The only hold up is my dear old Sister, who has one thing left to do next Wednesday. Well actually she is done, but she needs the cpac and wants them to show her why they think she does. She also is going through Medicare and was wondering if anyone else has, and does it take a long time for approval? We would like to schedule our Band Days (surgery)together. And everything else if possible. I don't know what is left at this point other than our day for pre admission. If anyone can fill me in, Please do. We havn't done a pre-diet and wonder if that is something we will be required to do before surgery. Anyway, I can hardly wait. -

Thanks for the invite Special K. I should have added a lot more to that obese word. I just can't seem to get it out of my mouth. You are right K....I believe the 60's are the new 40's...so the fifties must be the new 30's. -

Hello, I have been reading a lot of posts, and it is time to introduce myself. I can now see I really might be a part of all this and get a band too. I am a 62 year old Grandma with 10, going on 11, grandchildren. I am going to Mid Ohio Surgial for the Lap Band. I started this process in October 2007 (seminar). I have done my head thingy and I my head is intact. ( I hope so anyway as my appointment lasted all of 5 minutes ). What a farce that was. Went to my nutritional counciling next with Michelle. Then I saw a Cardilogist, who found a shadow on my nuclear stress test he ordered...then on to a cardiac cath where 100% blockage was found. Good news though! I had done a natural bypass on myself! In the midst of my my cardio go round I had my intial consult with Dr. Choban. I think I made the right choice in picking her. She was very helpful to me as I had a 3 year gap in my weight lost history. We couldn't get it resolved at that appointment but I felt thankful that I had chosen a Dr. who would go the extra mile. I finally was able to locate my history with my previous Doctor. Charlene said she thought they would need a consecutive history from the last five years. Mine has a gap of 3 years but shows my weight for those years to be obese. I spoke to her last week and she said she would summit my info to the insurance (UHC) this week. I am so glad I have found this forum. I know I am a a stranger to all of you but I feel like I know all of you very well. -

Good Evening All, I was with BCBS last year when I went to the Bariactric seminar. Had spoke to BCBS before that day and was so happy to get everything started and knowing I would be covered. That very day we received in the mail notice that BCBS was dropping us (Federal employees)at the end of the year and we would need to decide at open enrollment who we would go with. Anyway it was to late, because Dr. Choban said the process would take 3 to 4 months. She said at the Seminar that United Healthcare was one of the easiest so that is the one we went with. They require a five year weight history. Charlene explained that is not a diet history but just weight. I have 4 years. I spoke with my previous Dr. today and found out I can get my medical records from them. As I stand right now my Cardiologists has asked me to send him a release for my medical history so I have asked them to include my weight history the same time. Can anyone tell me how long it takes to go through the Nutritional classes? That will be the last base (that I know of) to cover that they have asked for after I am cleared with the cardiologists. -

I have been reading as many posts as possible to help me through the process of hopefully being banded in the future . I am stuck with this five year weight history thingy. I have four years and was not seeing a doctor for two years prior to 2004. When I called to make an appointmnt in 2004 to my doctor who I had not seen for two years, they said they no longer had my records. So I just got myself a new Dr. Now I need that weight history which will more than likely put me in the year 2001 to 2002. Has any one else been so lackluster in seeing the medical field? I am wondering if anyone knows the law on how long a DR. must keep a patients medical records. Talked to Charlene and I could tell right off that she was over worked and hope that I can get things done without bothering her too much. I don't know about the rest of you but this whole thing with the $300. here and $200. ther bothers me a little as I feel it is paying them for the paper work etc. Anyway She definitly needs help. Can anyone help me with this weight history thing?
