Good morning ladies and gents! I just found out that NALC only get quotes from Cigna they don't actually insure us! NALC don't require a PCP approval letter just the other common paper work???????? I'm still waiting on NALC to review and approve???????? I'm so excited!!

I have NALC under CIGNA PPO. I've completed all of the necessary steps to get my sleeve. My doctor submitted all of my papers on 7/21/14 and as of yet, we haven't heard anything. I called Cigna and was told that they have 30 days to review but geesh, do they really take 30 days?! Does anyone here have NALC health insurance under Cigna ppo?

I know nothing about Cigna, but I am from Chicago too! You might try the insurance forum down the page. There are usually quite a few posts about Cigna. Thank you!

Hi ladies! AA from Chicago. Thanks to you, so many questions that I've had have been answered on this forum! I've been through my 6 month process of dietician and nutritionist experts that my insurance NALC CIGNA PPO require, I've had my psych eval, now I'm waiting on approval! I was wondering if anyone knows how about how long is the insurance approval take after it's been submitted with this particular insurance?

I called cigna ppo today 7/22/14 and was told that they received the request for approval on yesterday but it'll take 30 days for a response because of all the "paperwork"! I asked if they think that it can be any sooner the agent said no, I should wait the entire 30 days to make sure!! With that being said, I'm calling again on Monday 7/28/14!

I am too a government employee but I chose NALC Cigna PPO. I'm waiting on approval now. Does anyone here knows how long it takes for this particular insurance?

I know someone who had the surgery, she was readily conversing about how she dieted and exercised and walked her dog everyday for 4 months lost over 70lbs until she got really sick not conforming to the restrictions of the surgery and had to be hospitalized! Someone close to her had to tell! She's doing well now but no one really talks to her because she was typically never known for dieting OR exercising but always know to be a liar of everything..... It's sad, she don't understand that someone could've helped her or she could've helped someone ????

I'm pre-op as well and I've done all the necessary steps, including the 6 months of diet, nutrition and exercise that my insurance required. I'm just waiting on APPROVAL AND SURGERY DATE. I haven't told my 3 children or my mother.... My husband my grandma who are very supportive and 3 of my very close relatives, 2 of whom also had it done, knows. No one at my job knows but I have been taking my lunch of salads some days protein drinks on others and a gallon of water always..... I've been known to diet, lose and gain so I'm going to keep it as if I'm dieting losing and keeping it off for the ones that I didn't confide in.

I'm new to the bariatric pal app. I'm also just starting my sleeve journey. My insurance (CIGNA PPO) said that I have to do 6 months nutrition/dietician before I get a surgery date. The doctor has placed me on a pre op diet stating that I have to lose 2 lbs a week for six months???? did anyone else have this problem? Pre op weight is 221 and 5'0 tall
