I think I am gonna be fat forever.....
DtDtKty replied to Kimber-lilly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good for you Kim for dusting yourself off and being proactive. I am sure that you feel a lot better now. Hang in there. You have already come a long way. I am sure that a fill and a consult with the doc will help a lot. Don't worry about your bill either. I worked in a GI clinic and the docs never knew about the patient's financial status. Only billing dealt with that. The docs get paid regardless. Hoping the time flies to Monday for you. Hugs. -
Penni....I am so sorry about the bone spur. I can only imagine your pain. I feel for you too about the Cortisone injection...they do hurt like holy hell. (I had one in my ankle....oweee) Hopefully it will help though and you can keep from having surgery. Let us know what happens. Hugs to you.

Hello everyone! I just had to share because I feel like I'm going crazy...hehe. The realtor called at 9:45am PST and said that we might have an offer. The people may not want it to the end of June though. That would be ok I think. I guess they are willing to do an 30 day escrow but as a result would want to pay $5000 under our offer. For just two more weeks, I think I can stick it out to get our asking price. This is so exciting and amazing. We bought our home just south of San Diego in Dec. 2001 for $299,100. Now we are asking $630,00-$645,000...some appreciation huh! As you can see, the insane rise in cost of living is why we are moving to Oregon. It will be nice to be able to put a huge chunk down on a house and I might not have to work, at least not full time. Thanks for listening to my babbling. I haven't told my husband yet because I want to wait and hear more. Cross your fingers for me. Thanks.

Well...no official word yet. I got a call from our realtor at 9:30pm and he said that the potential buyer wanted to offer $625,000 with a $5000 credit for closing costs....computing to only $620,000. My husband and I talked and decided to counter them at $630K with the $5K credit. We had wanted around $635K but decided to go with this couple, if they accept the counter, since they are already pre-approved and have a move in date in mind. I already miss my hubby after only two days and want to get up to Oregon. Keep your fingers crossed for me that what is meant to be will be. If this doesn't fly, we have another Open House on Sunday. Thanks. Rena...I will be emailing you.

So very sad. There seems to be so much violence against children as of late. My prayers are with the families, friends, and community of the little girls.

hi everyone, i am new , wondering if anyone regrets
DtDtKty replied to a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Denise! I have had no regrets about the band. As a nurse, I know of too many horror stories about gastric bypass...not only immediately post-op but later down the line. I worked in a GI clinic last year and we saw many people with unexplained stomach pain, Vitamin deficiencies, and a host of other problems after bypass. Bypass by its' very nature causes malabsorption...that's not normal. While the weight loss with banding might be a little slower than we would wish for, it seems to be a healthier rate of loss in the long run. That's just my 2 cents. Best of luck to you and your daughter. -
Welcome Rena! So glad that you are here. I see that you live in Beaverton...small world. I will be moving to Hillsboro as soon as our house sells in San Diego (my husband is already in there). My feelings were a lot like yours. As a nurse, I vowed to never do gastric bypass...way too many horror stories. I researched banding in Nov. but talked myself out of it after reading the complications on the Inamed site. It wasn't until the end of March that I changed my mind. At 292 pounds, a BMI of 45, and bursting out of 26/28 clothes, I decided enough was enough. I am so glad I did. Good for you for finding this site before your surgery. I just found it yesterday and I am already feeling so much more support with my band. Feel free to email or pm me. Best of luck to you.

Welcome David!!! You are doing awesome. Hope you enjoyed your egg...scrambled eggs was my first meal at the start of week three. It took me 40 minutes to eat 1/3 cup, but it was sure nice to chew something.

Hi, I'm Maribella, New here
DtDtKty replied to Maribella's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Maribella! Good for you for doing the research to find the best option. I was self-pay too, so every penny did count. Luckily we were able to take out a Home Equity Line of Credit to help. Good luck in your search. -
Welcome Moon!! It is completely normal to be scared. I am a RN and I was terrified of the unknown. You are doing yourself a great service though by becoming informed and asking questions. I wish I had found this site before I was banded. I am just thankful I found it now. Best of luck to you!

Welcome Alatina. Your are doing great!! I am originally from Ohio and we would say, "You are kicking butt and taking names." Keep up the great work. I look forward to getting to know you better. Congrats also on your upcoming nuptuals. I will be married for three years in Oct. Isn't love grand!! -

Hello. My name is Heather. I was banded on 4/21/05 in Tijuana by Dr. Lopez Corvala. It was a scary experience...I felt like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz...I was acutely aware that I wasn't in the USA. Everything went well though and since I only live approx. 7 miles from the US/Mexico Border and the all inclusive price was only $8800, it was the best choice for me. My mother-in-law was banded by the same surgeon in Nov. 2004, so she went with me. So, I am sixteen days out (as of 5/8) and have lost sixteen pounds. I worry that I am not eating enough but I also worry about eating too much. I am in the midst of week 3 post-op which is soft foods according to my surgeon, so I have been trying things like Easy Mac (takes me two meals to finish one 3/4 cup package) and scrambled eggs. Mostly I have been drinking Protein shakes though (GlutaPro), intermixed with low fat jell-o pudding, and have been averaging 44-66 grams of protein/day. I am still working on getting my Water intake up. I am just so happy to find this board. It looks wonderful and I know it will give me so much info. I am happy to find a place of support. Unfortunately my biggest supporter, my husband, left this am for Portland, OR. I am staying in CA until the house sells. Hopefully we will get an offer soon and I can move up to Portland. Thanks for letting me join the group.

Teresa....You look wonderful. I can see such a difference. Isn't it amazing the difference a year can make! I hope that I am doing as well as you after a year. Congratulations! Your hard work is definitely paying off. You go girl!!!
-
Glad that you are now "feeling fine"....hehe. I too waiting about the same time as you and everything was fine.
-
Kathy, You look wonderful. I think that is the best DMV photo I have ever seen...mine looks like I smoked something illegal prior to the pic...hehe. You can't be almost 40...I would say late 20's/early 30's....and that is from someone who is 29. Thanks for sharing.

Welcome Aileena. Congratulations on your upcoming banding. I know what you mean about things happening really fast. From when I decided to call the patient coordinator for specific information to when I had a surgery date, was less than one week. Then my surgery was three weeks later. I feel like the band is definitely helping, but remember that it is only a tool. My mind still wants ice cream but I have to be the one to decide to put sugar free Jello in my mouth instead. Best wishes to you.

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome! I really appreciate it. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you. It is so strange to have the band...to know it's there but not really be aware of it except for the port. It sort of seems surreal. Teresa...Thanks for responding to my email. I will be writing you more later. Thanks.
