My surgery was April 3rd, so in another week or so i will be at the 3 month mark. Doing well overall - i am down 40 lbs and just this month i have really started exercising. I walk 2 miles every morning before work and i got a Nike Fuelband and this is keeping me motivated. I really thought that the weight would come off faster - but at least it is consistently coming off. I feel like I can eat A LOT... a lot more than that 1/2 cup they said I would be able to eat. That being said, Im not overly hungry so i think i am still having "head" hunger and am trying to get my arms around that. Also - gettin the Protein in is hit or miss. 60-80 grams is a lot.. would love to know how you all are doing it.

Delaware VSG surgery 4/3 need a buddy!
Memegirl replied to Memegirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would love that. i got inundated with emails from the groups i signed up on and have not been able to keep up. would you be willing to give me your personal email address? if so i can email you from my I-phone and then when you email me back, it will show up immediately. Im sorry for the delay and I really would love a support pal - i just cant keep up with 30 emails a day in addition to work. LOL IF your good with that - send me your email and ill shoot you a test email from my phone and we will go from there. I think i had done a lot of reading and was hoping to be one of those people who lost 60 lbs in 2 months, but that is not going to be the case iwth me. However, i am trying to focus less on the weight loss and more on being healthy and no longer being addicted to sugar etc... the weight is coming off, just not as fast as i wanted - but that is ok.... at least it is coming off. How is your journey going? any issues? Looking forward to hearing from you! M -

Hey all... I am 4/3 sleever and the first week I lost 15 pounds... now week 2 weigh in i only lost 1 pound... i am tracking my Protein and calories - getting about 40 of protein on a good day - 30-35 on a not good day and calories are pretty low so i am wondering if my body thinks im trying to starve it and is holding onto the weight. Im not really concerned, more curious. I mean I am only 2 weeks out so there is not a lot i can do....but i am going to start walking this weekend now that i am feeing better. Any thoughts... should i be concerned at the low weight loss of week 2??

webhopper - when is your surgery? are you gettng VSG?
-
darneka1 - im not sure what kind of hunger it is. i definately still get hungry - but not like i used to so maybe it is head hunger?? Not really sure! I just know I needed to "eat"something today and since i knew that was a no-no, i settled for licking some yogurt off a spoon. LOL I have had 2 bouts of a dry heave since my surgery... not bad. I hear that happens when you take to much in and i am not eating much yet so i havent had an issue with it except those 2 occasions post op.

Hi All. I was sleeved on 4/3 so i am 5 days post op and already down 15 pounds. Insane! I know if wont keep going this fast and furious, but its a nice way to start out. I have to tell you - they used some kind of numbing agent on my during the operation and i have not had to take a single pain pill. Yes, the incisions are tender (expecially if I cough), but not so much that i have needed to take anything. I am amazed by that. I am now just struggling with wanting to eat something. My MD said its best to do 2 weeks of Protein shakes post op. I have to admit that today i licked a few spoons of greek yogurt and I also tried hummus. Both went down easy and stayed down but i am going very slowly.... very slowly... sticking mostly to the Protein shakes. I am excited to embark on this journey! and I am excited for all the other April sleevers.

you go girl! -
awwww. Hang in there. It is a normal psychological response from what i have been told. Focus on WHY you made this choice and realize that in no time at all you will be chewing! You can do this. my surgery is on 4/3.... so in a few weeks you can tell me the same thing! LOL you can do this - you really can - this is temporary and you are on your way to fulfilling your dream of a slimmer healthier you. Focus on the long term. I know you can do it! Hang tough!

Dr. Umbach - Las Vegas
Memegirl replied to duckie913's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Compared to where i live, Dr. Umbach is not expensive at all! The only place cheaper I found was Mexico but I would prefer to stay stateside. I am thinkful to hear from those who have gone to Dr. Umbach. It is a little scary traveling so far for this to someone you have neer met... But i have researched him too and feel confident in him. I am so excited for ALL of us!! -

I am scheduled for mine on 4/3, an I am having all of those emotions too. I think it is al very normal. Just focus on how much better you are going to look and feel. I am jealous that your insurance company will pay - I have to pay privately, so that is a blessing. Make sure you are mentally prepared - but don't be afraid. You have not made a rash decision and you know why you are doing this. Everything will be fine and you will be glad that you took this step towards better health! I'll be praying for you! -
