My doctor is not testing me for nicotine nor he asked me to quit.("Beauty" of being self paid?) I quit anyways. This surgery is such a big change and such big influence, I want to start fresh and healthy. Congrats on your upcoming surgery!!! -

Telling people Im having weight loss surgery.
green*eyed*girl replied to karinbuck's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only told my mom, dad, sister and fiance. I told everybody else that I'm having a gall bladder surgery coz I have over 10 stones - and that is true. So I am just not disclosing the full truth. If a morbidly obese person would ask me how I lost all the weight I would probably tell her/him as I would not want to make that person feel even worst about herself thinking "oh she could do it only with diet why can't I?" My family? Oh how lucky I am... My mom was the one who asked me if I would consider this surgery so I can live longer and healthier. True love there My dad is not that easy going although supportive he was just sitting there quite and he said he can not wrap his head around that I will lose 85% of a completely healthy organ. There was not much to reply...thank god my Mom has a big influence on my Dad so he is on board. -
Why didn't anyone tell me it was going to be this hard?
green*eyed*girl replied to uscbree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
"Try getting a bariatric surgery cookbook- I got one from Amazon and it's created for us AND our family's so they can eat well too and it so good!" Can I ask you for the title of the book? I'd like to be able to cook such food that is good for me but also my BF can eat it. I am afraid I won't be able to cook 2 different kind of food and I feel it would be unfair from me to not cook for my lovie just because I'm going through this transformation. Plus eating together was always important for us. We want to be able to still eat together even if I have to eat less and different from him! Thanks in advance! -
Hello my UK sleevers! I am scheduled to be sleeved on April 14th. This is my time now to get everything ready for my surgery, and I would like to know what brand of foods and dietary supplements are you using? I ordered my protein from MyProtein and tasted it, happy with it! I read the American sleevers, and they have Crystal Light (I have ordered some but it's quite pricy here in the UK), what is the british substitution for Crystal Light? What is that dietary supplement you could not live without? Where you get your vitamins from? Sorry but I am clueless and I need help please...

Dietary Question
green*eyed*girl replied to green*eyed*girl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh my, how funny, lick my windows on a rainy day!!! lol Yeah I feel the same about fruit tea, I would only drink it if it's ice cold. But still I feel a gross after-taste.... Green tea would be nice as it is healthy but I do not fancy green tea. I am still trying :/ For now I have the CrystalLight, ready for aftermy surgery, I know they are delicious. I will keep looking for a UK alternative -
Did anyone stay at the hospital for over 3 days after the operation?
green*eyed*girl replied to MozzaWehsha's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be staying 4 nights (5days), that is standard with my doctor. I am happy with that. -
Tanning is ok but you need to cover the scars while tanning for 1 year post-op (new skin very sensitive). Some ppl says its ok to tan your scars for a minute or two when you are at least 7 months out...

Dietary Question
green*eyed*girl replied to green*eyed*girl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks Peachy! I will try them out, as I am pretty sure I will get bored with my shakes soon, I need variety! I will search them to see how much protein and carb they have. What do you plan on drinking? I've heard loads of people are having problem with Water at the beginning, and I am not a big water drinker anyways, but I am trying to find a good drink that is zero or close to zero calories and not carbonated. Do you have any suggestion? Good luck with your pre-op diet, I am so glad I do not have to do that, but decided to start watch what I eat and cut back a lot 2 weeks before my surgery! -

Anyone else being sleeved in the next couple of months?
green*eyed*girl replied to willow13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I could have written this post Peachy!) I am also very scared that somehow my sleeved stomach will end up being big and I will still be hungry and able to eat a lot! I am more scared of that then complications. And I have a very bad relationship with carbs too, and I will have to fight myself to stay away from them after surgery. I am sceduled April 14th! Not long now and I'm getting more and more nervous by the minute! -

How important is your goal weight for you?
green*eyed*girl posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello everybody, I am currently in the pre-op phase, scheduled for April 14th. I was reading on the veterans forum as I am very courious what to expect years down the road. It cought my attention that several veteran sleevers are struggling and fighting to lose that last 10-20 pounds. Now, as I am still sitting on the fat bench I am thinking myself that I would probably not even care about losing that last 20 pounds, as I have about 100 pound to lose that 20 seems just like icing on the cake... I do not want you to think that I am already finding excuses as I take this very seriously and prepearing the best I can, but I wonder if those last pounds are really making that much of a difference? Is any sleevers outthere being happy 10-20 pounds over goal weight? Honestly, right now I feel so heavy and uncomfortable that I think even losing 50 pounds would make a huge difference in my life. Hard to wrap my head around losing 100 pounds...long way to go -
Surgeon has only done 26 sleeves
green*eyed*girl replied to ChristmasJanet's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor has done about 25 sleeves also (only), but he done hundreds of bypass plus thousand of non bariatric surgeries. I am not concerned about his knowledge. -
Unexpected NSV - I'll take it!
green*eyed*girl replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The only problem with this element (apart from all the bruising - and lord, I am still sore), is that I'm finding it very odd to be 'knocked down' - by anything. When I was 250lbs plus, there wasn't a CAT 5 hurricane which could have knocked me over. These days, I'm like 'whoop! There she goes!'. Hahhhh this made me laugh! It reminded me that my fiance always very worried about me if I have to walk home from work after dark, he says somebody will kidnap me or something, and I always tell him do not worry, it's not that easy to sedate me and pick me up after I pass out and put me in the back of a van lol I require a team!!! Lovely story, you look stunning, I wish you more NSVs to come -

SABOTAGE DREAMS
green*eyed*girl replied to Unbesleeveable's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have!!!! But I am not even sleeved yet, as my date is getting closer and closer I am more and more nervous. So I had this dream the other night that I had my surgery and right after that I started to sip on DietCoke and it went down so well and I had some fatty cheese and I was surprised in my dream that it did not hurt much just a little. I woke up in sheer horror! It was horrible... -
Items for the kitchen?
green*eyed*girl replied to dsmith_rn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Very helpful topic, great suggestions, especially the ones with links! I will get this warming plate, obviously later down the road as I hate when my food goes cold, and I tend to eat faster when I feel my food is getting cold (instead of standing up and reheting lol), and I will have to avoid eating fast! Baby food plate size is just enough! "The Green Sprouts Warming Plate will keep baby's food heated without the use of electricity. Just add warm Water through spout to keep food warm during mealtime. As an added bonus, the Warming Plate has a non-slip suction on the bottom to keep it securely in place. Dishwasher safe." http://www.babyearth.com/green-sprouts-warming-plate.html -
fears...
green*eyed*girl replied to readyanxiousscared's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have these fears too as I am getting ready for my April surgery. I constantly question myself if I will be able to say NO to the old bad habits. This surgery is all I think about, it drives me nuts! Last night I even had a dream of having the sleeve done and next day sipping on DietCoke and eating fatty cheese. And in my dream my stomach was hurting me a bit but not much and I was surprised that I am still alive eating and drinking right after surgery! I woke up in horror! I have to leave this life behind... -
How important is your goal weight for you?
green*eyed*girl replied to green*eyed*girl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, I can totally relate to that, as I often obsess with things that are super important to me. I read a very interesting comment here, I do not remember the topic or the user, but she said that she is "playing" this weird game where she tries to take in all her Protein needs but with the least calories possible, every day little bit less and less and working out more and more, and I have found it very interesting. I mean after long years of abuse and really not careing about our bodies suddenly it becomes our first priority...fascinating ...
