Over a year out: How much can you eat?
alwaysonadiet replied to MichiganChic's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Now I'm 17 months out, and I can eat a lot more than I could at Just 2 months ago, I don't know what happened over the last few months but it's a lot easier to eat, now I can NEVER finish any meal I can't even finish a half of sandwich, but I Can eat it all throughout the day. I do eat whatever I want and I never measure or count calories or carbs I just go by what the scale says. I have been holding at 118 lbs for almost a year now, but in the last few weeks the scale has been moving up. Just this morning the scale said 123 lbs. I'm not sure if that's good or bad. What I can't stand is the burping and gurgling my stomach makes after eating or drinking anything. Does anyone know if that will stop? It seems it's getting worse but maybe because I've been eating more. -
Over a year out: How much can you eat?
alwaysonadiet replied to MichiganChic's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I am 13 months out and I cannot hardly eat anything. I have sooo much restriction it's crazy. I don't know if my surgeon made my sleeve too small or what, but it absolutely painfully hurts if I eat too much, I just simply can't. I'm constantly thirsty and Water is difficult to get down. However I was able to reach my goal and even exceed it in very little time. Eating is just not enjoyable at all anymore, it's very disheartening! I eat about 1/4 cup of cottage cheese for lunch and can only get down a half a bowl of soup for dinner. If I'm hungry between I just snack on chips, they go down easily and I don't feel hungry. I am under 500 calories a day, I can really eat anything I want because I'm restricted to just a few bites, but am maintaining my weight since November. I did lose most of my hair, which is slowly growing back. It's been a hard and winding road! -
What is everyones diet?
alwaysonadiet replied to wjcunni2000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is anyone having all kinds of noises and little burps after eating? Man, I am noisy even after just a tiny bit. Even a drink of water. -
I am too skinny too and I have also surpassed my goal weight. I am a size 4 and am trying to gain a few pounds, but I just can't eat that much still so I'm losing too much. I'm 6 months out. I'm hoping after a year it will get better.

What is everyones diet?

I think that's great you all can eat that much. I think everybody is different. I get absolutely sick and am in awful pain if I eat any kind of meat even lunch meat or dense solid foods. . I have recently started eating cheese sticks but just like a month ago and can't even finish a whole one. I think there's something wrong with me and my sleeve is too tiny that after 6 months I cannot eat most foods. I force the calories in, like ice cream and milkshakes just to stop losing. I've surpassed my goal and am a size 4 and don't wish to get smaller, I don't dare workout. after a year they say you're able to eat more…I'm hoping. I'd like to have more energy and hair, lol -
I am 6 months out and I drink coffee everyday and I have been for months. Everybody is different but it never bothered me.

alwaysonadiet replied to wjcunni2000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow…I am six months out and I CANNOT eat that much. I still can only consume soup and cottage cheese. I wish I could eat that diet. It hurts to eat and just doesn't fit. I think if you keep up that diet you will lose the healthy way and not lose hair and have energy. It may come off slower, but as long as you feel better that all that matters. -
Any February 2014 Sleevers?
alwaysonadiet replied to honeyg317's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Is anyone experiencing difficulty eating still? It's been 6 months, my bloodwork looks good the endoscopy showed everything A-ok. The Dr. says I just have to keep taking omeprazole. Other than that, I'm supposedly good. BUT I just can't eat. If I eat too much of anything which for me too much is 3 spoonfuls of cottage cheese rather than one, I get so sick like I did in the very beginning. I know having the surgery is supposed to limit eating, but I've superseded my goal, I'm very thin I'm a size 4, I can't seem to put weight on or stop losing, it's because I still can't eat hardly anything. I'm lucky to get in 500 calories and that's if I eat chips or fries. It's like I'm scared to eat so I don't get deathly sick, but want and need to eat to have energy and function and not lose anymore weight. Also the burping, gurgling, sneezing, hic-upping is annoying it makes me miserable when I eat hardly anything. Anyone else still having this problem? Does it ever get better? Maybe after a year? -
Replacement for Dr. Aceves?
alwaysonadiet replied to LighterSmarter's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Dr. Aceves did my surgery in February 2014. He is in my opinion the best Dr. He is a caring compassionate Dr. He really took the time with me and the other patients there at the time. I was so saddened to hear about his death. However I just came back from Mexicali on July 29th, I went back to get my follow up done and to see how everybody is doing. It's a horrible loss for the whole team and the family members. Like true professional form as Dr. Aceves wanted, they are moving forward, Dr. Aceves wouldn't want what he had taken so many years to build to crumble because he is gone. Dr. Beltran did move in and take over and Dr. Campos is still there assisting as well. The ladies, Carla, Yolanda, and Nina are also still as nice as they can be and are doing great under the circumstances. I truly trust that whole team and would recommend highly their services. I am healthy and happy because of them and would do it again in a minute even without Dr. Aceves. May he rest in peace. -

What kind of foods are you eating at restaurants? I swear I cannot find anything on any menu that my sleeve likes. I really can only eat cottage cheese and yogurt, anything else just hurts. -

low bmi still obese
alwaysonadiet replied to jdillon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the sleeve done 4 months ago at just a 34-35 bmi. I only had 50 pounds to lose and so far I've lost 42 lbs. I am only 5 ft tall and I was diabetic and I was just so unhealthy and had no energy and didn't want to go anywhere couldn't fit into any of my clothes, so I went to Mexico and paid for the surgery. I look and feel better as far as weight goes. I have no regrets. It's been a hard recovery for me, but in the long run no more yo-yo dieting. -
Any February 2014 Sleevers?
alwaysonadiet replied to honeyg317's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I feel like this all the time after I eat. I don't actually throw up, but I feel like I'm going to. I just feel awful after I eat anything, it hurts and I feel flush and I just have to go lay down. So I don't eat hardly anything to avoid this feeling. Last night I ate a hard boiled egg like that's it for the whole day and it hurt so bad i started thinking all kinds of bad things like a leak or something. Today I had 2or3 spoonfuls of soup and had to go in my car and lie down at lunch. I'm 4 months out. Guess I better call the doc. My next appt isn't till August. -
Any February 2014 Sleevers?
alwaysonadiet replied to honeyg317's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello all, Everybody looks great and is doing wonderful. My surgery was February 24, 2014 and I am down 40 pounds just today. I look and feel better and my old clothes fit. I'm happy with the surgery and weight loss, however I am having a hard time eating. I'm not getting in my protein. It's so hard to eat anything. I can only take one or two bites of anything. It's really frustrating. The only thing I'm living on is cottage cheese, I eat cottage cheese 3 or 4 times a day. I can't even eat scrambled eggs. Everything hurts on the way down and I get such heartburn it's unbearable. I take omeprozole like candy these days. I was so hungry in the beginning, but now at the 3 month mark I have lost my appetite for everything because it's too painful to eat, so I grab some cottage cheese, it doesn't hurt to eat. I can eat chips and slider stuff that is so not good for me, but I try and stay away from that.. I bet I eat less than 500 calories a day and am losing at 2 to 3 lbs a week now.... BUT no hair loss, so I guess that's good. Any suggestions? -
Pizza is my absolute drug and every time I see it I want it so bad. I am only 6 weeks out and it is impossible for me to eat. I wanted to ask you vets if you eat pizza and at what stage? I'm hoping at maybe 6 months I can try it. But I'm afraid to be in pain.
-
I'm just wondering if a sandwich with bread is in my future ever again? My mom who had gastric bypass almost 9 years ago eats bread rice potatoes anything she wants like normal. So I was just wondering if there are veteran sleevers out there that can tolerate bread?
-
I dream about this pizza. Pepperoni/mushroom. I also love the margarita pizza. I so wish I could have just one bite. I'm 7 weeks it would kill me. Like swallowing a rock. It would hurt all the way down for hours. I wouldn't be able to swallow my own saliva afterwards. Id probably end up throwing up or going to the ER for an endoscopy. Whew ok I don't want any pizza now. Hahaha
-
I'm at 7 weeks and I don't feel normal yet!! But with the hiatal hernia repair it took a good 6 weeks for me to feel better and not so tired. So somewhere between 4-6 weeks is a good target. You are smart to postpone. No fun traveling after this surgery.
-
Isn't that too many carbs? Or do you not really count carbs at this point?
-
I wanted appetite suppressants. Right around 3 weeks the hunger and stall set in with full force. Take a PPI that helps with the hunger.
-
You sound just like me. I also had a hiatal hernia repair and couldn't get anything down. Ended up in the hospital 5 days post op for fluids and pain meds and anything that would help. I was miserable and sick all the time and had huge regrets and also wanted pizza. I still want pizza, BAD!!lol. I'm 6 weeks out now. I still feel depressed and I finally just today got a script for liquid lexapro. I have H Pylori and have to take tons of antibiotics and omeprazole and Zofran on top of that because it all makes me nauseous. It totally sux. But then I step on the scale and I'm down 25 lbs and I fit into some jeans I haven't been able to wear in a while and then I remember why I wanted to do this in the first place. Then I come here to this support group and read that it's going to be okay. That it WILL get better. I'm still waiting for the day I will feel "normal" but I do feel better now at 6 weeks than I did at 1 week. So every week I hope and pray the regrets go away. Hang in there, I know you will be happy with your decision one day and so will I. Oh and get liquid Zinc for hair loss. I've been taking it and haven't lost any of my hair so far.
-
So it is possible. Yay!! I'm just wondering if I'll ever be able to eat a piece again. I crave it so bad but my sleeve isn't old enough yet. Only 6 weeks.
-
Dear Veterans, has your hunger returned?
alwaysonadiet replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I never lost my hunger either. I'm six weeks out and am hungry. Maybe the surgeon left too much of the ghrelin hormone. -
Pure liquid zinc for hair loss.
