Method of Payment
alwaysonadiet replied to O-Town Body Rock's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I paid with CC they (the Dr. ) charged 3% and the cc company charged 3% foreign transaction fee. But I was told if you use Cap One they don't charge a fee, but the Dr. Still will. -
Any February 2014 Sleevers?
alwaysonadiet replied to honeyg317's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm almost 4 weeks out and I've had a couple of drinks. I didn't notice anything really. Wine tastes really bad to me and beer is just too filling. I drink just goose on the rocks and a few sips coupled with the melted ice lasts all night. So you can still have a night out with your friends and blend in. At least I did. -

Constant burping post op
alwaysonadiet replied to Sleeveless in seattle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh great! I hate it, it's quite annoying. I was hoping when the swelling went down and the stomach adjusted a bit better the burping and bubbles would stop. The PPI help slightly but not much. ???? -
Hunger? I just ate.....
alwaysonadiet replied to JillC878's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That head hunger seems so real so be careful if you act on it. It will make you miserably sick!! Take your PPI. eat a Popsicle or some jello. It will go away. I'm at 3 weeks still waiting for it to go away! lol???? -
Walk, walk, walk. It helps the gas pains tremendously. Then you can drink (sip, sip, sip)! It's uncomfortable the first few days but take your PPI and walk!

Meal replacement shakes
alwaysonadiet replied to law001's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My fav are the physicians weight loss meal replacement shakes and bars. I actually lost 60 pounds doing that program before I gained it all back but got attached to the shakes I still to this day drink them. I love their chicken soup too. They have pretty good food. Www.pwlc.com -

February Sleevers.... Check in!
alwaysonadiet replied to Lulah's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved 2/24/2014- I'm just now on soft foods. Drinking is still real tough for me due to the bubbles and burping. I can eat with no problems. I eat yogurts cottage cheese oatmeal. Broths are bothersome but creamy tomato or clam chowder good. I am at the 3 week stall and I'm sure it's because I'm hungry and am eating probably too many carbs. Protein drinks and shakes make me gag so I'm going to try and put some unjury plain protein in my yogurt oatmeal etc. to get it down that way. only 18 pounds down so far. Wish it were more but I haven't lost my appetite, or it came back I should say. Anybody thinking of taking an appetite suppressant? Seems silly but I think I need it!!! What do you think? -

April sleevers in mexico
alwaysonadiet replied to kledislynn's mommy's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
For all you upcoming Mexico sleevers: before heading home to the US go to the pharmacy and get pantozol and B vitamin injections if you're a woman (not associated with surgery) and have any use for Retin A get that too. (Might as well look skinnier and younger, ha) you don't need a prescription for these meds and the pantozol is the same as Nexium and the B injections you will need once a month and if you do it your self it's way cheaper. Not to mention swallowing those pills daily is painful. This is B1, B6, B12 all in one injection only needed once a month. Gives you lots of energy. The Dr.s and nurses will advise and help you with what to get, it will save you $$ in the long run. -
FYI Gas x does nothing for acid. Helps with gas pains and gas on the bottom side. But you need a PPI for acid. I hear Prevacid is a good OTC one. But I just called my PCP and got a 3 month supply of Nexium. That's the best. If you know anybody in Mexico they can send you some pantozol you don't need a script there it's the same as Nexium. Works good. Also get the B vitamin injections if you can. They are cheap and you give yourself an injection once a month. If your close to the border it's worth it. Or if you're on your way there for surgery pick that stuff up before heading home. Your Dr. Will help you.

I had my surgery in MX but had complications and ended up in the ER in Viera (I live in Viera) and had an endoscopy with Dr. Teiu. I love him in fact I have an appt with him next week just to make sure I'm ok and to try and get rid of this H Pylori. I am 3 weeks out and have tons of questions for him like why can't I swallow and drink without pain and bubbles.

Shapeware Advise Needed

I found some shapewear that I like better than Spanx. It's called classic shapewear. It's great for after tummy tucks too -
Did you have Dr. Aceves at Almater Hospital?
alwaysonadiet replied to Jen40's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had surgery with Dr. aceves same day as SoCal Sleeve. They are top notch professional. They are with you every step of the way. You are never left alone wondering what will happen next. Nina is the one you'll be talking to then you get there and either Karla or Yolanda take you to all your tests. You have a very detailed interview with Dr. Campos he is a former sleever himself and a surgeon and nutritionist, he will explain everything and make you feel most comfortable. The hospital is impeccable the staff is seasoned. You will meet and see Dr. Aceves in the morning before surgery and he himself is wonderful. You have around the clock care and the doctors check on you a few times a day. I still to this day speak with Dr. Campos and Gaby, they follow up with you and check on you almost daily. You won't need much money. Dinner is maybe $25. I brought $50 total and it was plenty. I also had a cc just in case. But never used it. I highly recommend Dr. Aceves and his team. They are a bit more expensive but you get the best care and follow up. -
I Know this subject has been talked about before I tried to go back to the archives but I thought I would just ask if anybody else has this same experience. I was sleeved on Feb 24th and my pathology report just came back positive for H Pylori bacteria I guess from my piece of stomach they sent out. Dr. says no big deal just have to take a cocktail of antibiotics but not yet. Have to wait until 3 months out till my tummy is strong enough to handle them. Funny thing is I have NEVER had any gerd, heartburn, ulcers, reflux ever and now all of a sudden I had a hiatal hernia repair and now H Pylori. I'm so stumped??!!?
