THANK YOU!!!! That's how I answered that one too! I got 7/10.

You know what? A fill is a piece of cake...esp. when compared to all you went through for the actual surgery!! LOL!! Not to worry newly banded....the dr will go conservative on the fill amount to be sure you are no overfilled and they are pretty durn good at locating the port.

Glad to hear you are home and safe. Hopefully they figured out what to give you to keep the swelling down. Me, I got several shots of anti-inflamatory right into the rolls of my tummy. I was NOT happy each time the nurse gripped my fattest part like that and rammed in a needle, but in the end I'm grateful because whatever they gave me did the trick. Welcome to bandland! We've been waiting for you!!!

Oh HELL no....Delarla already got me with that one!!!

LOL! That is hilarious. Very funny. Ya know girl, sometimes you just gotta laugh at yourself or else you'll run hide under the bed. I'm sure the minister will forgive you. Now it's time to forgive yourself.

I can put on five pounds in a snap if I'm retaining Water like if I had a really salty meal the night before or esp. if I'm all pms-y. The body will NOT put on five pounds of fat over night so don't fret. It isn't permanent. It will fluctuate back down, I promise. In order to gain a pound of fat, you must consume 3500 excess calories. Unless you snuck off and ate 17 THOUSAND excess calories, I can guarantee you are just holding some water.

Okay, there are MANY ways you can spin this. No, you don't have to tell him you are banded. Hell, you don't have to tell anyone...ever. It's YOUR choice. Now...as to the mushies.....yes, go and try to order soup or something soft. I suggest saying "gosh, so sorry, my tummy was upset earlier so don't be offended if I eat sort of light tonight" then giggle beautifully and touch his arm and smile. Or.....say "gosh, I'm just not that hungry today. I think I'll have soup" or a million other ideas. Just have what you are going to say in mind so you are ready. And enjoy your date. I haven't had a date since my very serious boyfriend broke up with me a year and a half ago....so I'm jealous and HAPPY for you!!!

Then: a big mac AND two cheesburgers AND a extra large fries AND a large soda Now: I'm lucky if I can even choke down one cheeseburger...and then it feels gross so I don't even eat that anymore.....

Welcome Big (soon to be medium sized) Paul!! Glad to have you on board!! I'm sure you'll have many questions as you get closer to your surgery date. We're here to support!!!

1)How much of a fill you all got the first visit? I got 1.2 cc's which is a larger fill than my doc normally does because of some minor issues getting to my very deep port. 2)What size and brand of band? 4cc Inamed 3)Did your Dr. use floro or not for this first visit? Nope. He only uses floro in a very extreme circumstance. 4)How much did you get on your second fill? Second fill scheduled for a little over a week away. I don't think it will take much, I need *just* a skosh. 5)How long before you NEEDED (not got it, but needed it) your second fill? It's been just over two months. I had super restriction at first but it's since been not so.

What is the demarkation? Is it a BMI of 40? Cuz if so I also recently passed that line and didn't even realize I had a cause for celebration! lol! Me too! Now I did in fact celebrate that! Was happy just to be "on" their little chart thingy! lol!!!!

This happened to me last week too. I eat cottage cheese for breakfast every morning. EVERY morning for like two or three months. No problem, easy peasy. Last week...TERRIBLE PB. It was just really awful. Dunno what happened. I probably got complacent with the chewing and whammo. Or sometimes Katrinka (my band) just acts up. Hard to say. Man I hate PB'ing....makes me NUTS. And almost always I can trace it back to being in too much of a rush and eating too fast. *sigh*

:round of applause!!: Good for YOU!! You've done an amazing thing for yourself and congrats on hitting a goal!!!! What's the next goal (that will soon fall)?

Almost 5 mnths out & still learning
giveyouthemoon replied to I'llsucceed's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OH yes....I'm still learning too. Really learning. Eating too fast? No. Big bites? No. I'm also really beginning to understand this stop BEFORE you are full notion. It seems by the time I "feel" full...it's too late...I'm TOO full. And yeah, small is good. Still a really hard lesson. Thanks for saying this I'llsucceed! You are right on! -
Soooooo cooooooool! The costume rocks and your son is a very handsome boy!!

First fill took less than 10 minutes!
giveyouthemoon replied to Anndallei's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Nope! They are just a needle stick, that's all! No need for worries, a fill is nothing to fret about! -
I grew up knowing really only my mom's side of the family. There is some obesity there and some not so. So my mom always blamed me for my size. Accused me of being lazy, both mentally and physically (she's been heavy most of her own life as well). My dad wasn't heavy, very small and lean so he also blamed me fully for my appearance, and not in a nice way. Well....this year my dad passed and I went on a trip to see my dad's family and to get to know them. I had an epiphany. As I sat there looking around this "family reunion" I realized I was one of the SMALLER people in the room. And I realized "hey! This genetic thing is true!" Now....I do take responsibility for letting myself get to this point...but....I am also fighting against my own genetics. God bless my little band.

So did mine....so see? You aren't breaking the rules. My nutritionist said that doctors say only three meals a day because they are aiming at people who graze all the live long day. She said if you are hungry, EAT! She said snacks are fine as long as they are a small snack and done, not all day grazing. I guess the grazing issue is a big one for bandsters. I actually come and go on counting calories. Like you, I do it until I go nuts. Then I stop for a while....then when it seems like I'm not losing, I go back to it and make tweaks. Hang in there, girl!

Do you ever feel lethargic and weak from lack of food???
giveyouthemoon replied to adorkbl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's funny how the band really begins to break your old views on food. I too thought I would DIE only eating a cup or less of food. You know what? The band makes you rethink everything. It makes you realize just HOW MUCH food we all eat and just how much we don't need to be eating like that. It gives you a new outlook on food. It makes you make much smarter food choices because if you can only eat a small amount, you want it to be good, quality and good tasting. No longer this "well it's blah but I'll finish it and go on to something better". Nope. You eat quality tasty stuff instead, feel MUCH more satisfied and yes, you can live on a few cups of food a day. JUST fine!!! -

I was sore in that exact same spot for about six weeks. Totally normal. But just to be safe, call your doctor.

I want to keep it a secret, but don't know what to tell people when they ask
giveyouthemoon replied to Firecallie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Tell them you are having bad reflux and that you are trying liquids on your doctor's advice. Also....I told folks I was having "female surgery" and "didn't want to get into it" when pressed. You have a right to keep it a secret. Just work out your story ahead of time and stick to your guns.
