My port felt like this mainly because I was a dummy that night in the hosptial and tried to roll over...I yanked it all but good. What I did was to get one of those girdle things that goes around your middle? Like a tube top only lower? Yeah, I got one of those and wore it at night (couldn't wear it in the day cuz it rolled up at the bottom). But it gave me good pressure on the muscle at night and really helped. My .02 but I really agree with the others...you should talk to the doc. NEVER hesitate to call the doc!!!!!

I was never a fan of hotdogs...but I get where you are coming from....I LOOOOOVE hamburgers....been smelling them cooking on neighbors grills...and I MISS them. Sure, I can have one bunless, fine, but it's not the same. And right now I'm REALLY pining for a sandwich. I LOVE a good sammy....and I sure do miss 'em. Thick bread, lots of meat.....Always such an easy thing for lunch....*sigh*

My surgeon's philosophy on fills: It is better to be a bit underfilled then over filled. Because being overfilled causes you to make bad choices in a desperate effort to get anything down. He'd rather you eat too much of a chicken breast than a little bit of Cheetos. You fall RIGHT into this rule. Go. Get an unfill. You'll be glad you did!!! Oh and a big {{hug}}

For those of you who didn't tell ppl about your surgery....
giveyouthemoon replied to Tropicana's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, people treat me different. I think it's a combo of weighing 90 lbs less AND the boost in my own self esteem. I can't blame it all on the weight. I walk with my head up more and walk tall in my skin. And haven't had friends not want to hang out with me. Have had a few make some snarky comments...but none who abandoned me. Then again I don't have that many friends.....so others may have differing experiences on that one. -
Goodbye Lane Bryant! New NSV!!
giveyouthemoon replied to Kathy473's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OMG!!! I can HARDLY wait until I can shop at the Gap and Hot Topic!!! I'm getting close....the 14's at Avenue (my main store) are fitting right so soon I'll have to abandon them. I *did* buy a size 16 in a regular store and that was, to me a victory. So....YAY!! A thirteen in a store like PacSun is awesome!!!!! Cheers on your amazing NSV!!! And props to you for noticing it!! -
I have one scheduled for Friday. Having some issues with my band....I can either eat so much I could swallow a basketball or I'm so tight I can only eat two bites. Crazy. Trying not to be scared until I get the facts. So with an esophagram....you drink the liquid. Is it gross? Thick? You have to drink it fast? Possible to PB on it? Considering I can PB on thick stuff these days. Holla bandsters! Tell me what to expect? Much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

If that's food porn does that mean the appropriate way to describe what I'm feeling is...horny? :cake: -

Tell me about an esophagram?

Yeah, the nurse today said that. To drink a ton of Fluid to flush the stuff out. Nice. It was pretty nasty. No flavor, tasted like....flavorless toothpaste is the best way I can describe. And they also made me swallow this stuff that is almost like pop rocks. The intent was to create a gas bubble in the tummy. Yuck. It hurt. Feels like you have to have a BIIIG burp but you are instructed not to. Weird. But it's all over now...glad I got it done. The good news is....I got to see the films and Trink (my band) is right where she should be. I mean, I'm not the doctor, but I've seen a couple people post their films here so I know how it should look and pretty much I could see she was right there in place. So while that's a relief....that doesn't solve the problem of what the HELL is going on! I have an appointment with my surgeon next week to review the film and figure stuff out. But for now, no slip and for that I'm incredibly thankful..... -

Man I have *clearly* been out of touch around here...sheesh! Who knew there was even an issue....sh-t, the weather is so nice here I've been outside frolicking in my new smaller sized clothes. God, LBT has been a such an amazing support for me. I mean, in my own surgeon's support group there are few band patients. The good people here told me what to expect before, during and after surgery. I can come here with ANY problem and find at least two people, often more, who have had the same or similar. The lap band community is small but growing. So to quote Hill Street Blues.....hey, let's be careful out there........ -

Elizabeth, thanks for the input. Forgot another question....did the barium give you...uhhhh....intestinal distress? It doesn't take much for me to get the runs and I'm thinking...I have to fast from midnight on and then this barium crap will hit bottom on an empty tummy. A recipe for disaster for my tummy....thoughts? -
Um....I think your friend is a jealous little wench. I think her own self esteem issues are manifesting themselves on to you. I think she's got some deep seated sh-t going on in her head. I suggest if she does this to you say to her "you know, you are my friend and this is a hard road I'm going down. I could use a little support. Lie to me if you have to but just be my friend." Just my .02 True friends show themselves in times of adversity. This one needs to spend a little "time out" to think about that.......

Ahem....Pianoman......niiiice try at sneaking in a danish pastry! Unh huh..."but...but...I didn't think it was BREAD!" The lapband police will be to your place in a moment...pull over to the side of the road, go with them easy.... (Heck I say if you want, give it a try but I bet it'll clog up your esophagus. I've tried bread since being banded and it's usually and eye watering PB'ing good time....I actually don't even WANT bread anymore...it's just not worth it)

I put my intention out there. Told friends and family I was in the market. Just put it out there, gave it to the universe. Took a while (patience not my best virtue) and one day a friend invited me to lunch with a group. She had a friend that said always reminded her of me. She was right. We're quite similar. So we met that day and were both tentative. Started hanging out. We're now six months in and I'm flat crazy about him. Can't say I've worked out all my issues and sometimes I'm a big pain in the ass to him..but mostly we do great. Best part is he knows about Trink (my band) and has read up on it and helps me a lot with good food choices and whenever we eat he ALWAYS looks at me at first bite and says "sloooooow!" It's always a good reminder! It about 1)being ready 2) knowing you are ready and 3) taking the risk...grab your nose and jump in the water! It's a crazy road.......

Bear in mind that your body stores estrogen in fat cells...so as you lose fat, that hormone gets released back into your body and can cause all kinds of wacky stuff. My monthlies have been off too....it just happens. Sometimes being a chick is a hard road.....(but mostly I like it! *hee*)

Ah yes...the joys of trying to get to the toes....I know it well. That is a GREAT NSV and much congrats to you for noticing and taking the time to pat yourself on the back. Those moments of self congrats are priceless...and a big key in rebuilding tattered self esteem. Whoot for an NSV!

I did get dizzy post op but didn't know if it was the liquids or residuals from anesthesia. They say it takes a good couple weeks to get all of the anesthesia out of your system. Take it easy, ok? No running around. You aren't pushing it are you?

The MOST Embarrassing PB ever!!!
giveyouthemoon replied to Connorsmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh my goodness....yeah, I've PB'd into my hands once, but I was in my car, not at a table of folks. I can only begin to imagine....... My most embarassing was when I was in a very nice restaurant in New York in the bathroom, sort of drunk and PB'ing pretty hard (meaning: noisy) only to finish, open the door, and realize there was a bathroom attendant...she was standing there waiting on me (I was the only one in the bathroom). I hadn't seen her when I stumbled in..... But hey...I don't know her, I won't be seeing her again anytime soon. Sounds to me like you handled your situation with grace.....we live and learn eh? -
I have taken 5htp off and on for years and funny you post this because I just started taking it again today. I've never had it curb my appetite..to be honest....I take it to help me with mood balancing. Why are you chicken to take it? It's fairly harmless, it's close to the stuff in Turkey that makes you sleepy (triptophan). It's a good brain support thing...is a precurser to serotonin which is why it works for some folks on appetite. The only side effect I've ever had was a headache right at first when I started taking it but that went away. I usually start with a really low dosage (50 mg) and see how it goes from there. This of course is only my experience and not intended to advise you one way or the other. You have to make the choices for yourself. I suggest Googling "side effects of 5htp" and see what you find. Then make your choices from there.

Holy Crap! You are absolutely and completely my hero! Congratulations on your amazing weight loss and for being strong as you deal with grief. You are one amazing human being.
