My Name is John Trigueiro and after a horrible 6 years of bouncing in between hospitals due to severe heart condition, I decided I needed more control over my weight which would help with my heart. I opted for the Realize Lapband and had the surgery performed early 2010. At the time of the surgery I weighed 428lbs. My goal was to drop down to 200lbs within 18 months. Unfortunately three months after surgery I suffered a massive stroke which made me become permenantly disabled. The inabilty to exercise in conjunction with my new 30 carb lifestyle impeded my process. Since my stroke I lost my health insurance and could not return to my doctor. Since 2010 I have suffered yet another stroke and a heart attack. I now have medicare and after an almost 4 year absence from my doctor I picked back up on my Journey. My Dr. was not happy I did not go back after the surgery, but, was pleasantly surprised I had lossed 73 lbs in these past few years. I was just happy to not have gained weight. I received my first fill today (only 3 1/2 cc's), but, I am anxious to get back on track and to lose this weight. My health demands it.
The surgery was great as I believe I have the best Doctor ever. The ability to buy smaller clothes and have people recognize how much you have lost is a great motivator. The 30 Carb lifestyle has not only been a blessing to me, but, my family has also embraced the change. By doing so we are getting healthier together. My surgery was such a success and the weightloss without any fills have motivated others to have the procedure. I would highly recommend this procedure, especially my doctor to anyone. It is a life changing experience and one that might be a bit to get used to in the begining, but, it is worth it. There are only two downsides in my opinion. The first is the waiting 30 minutes after you to drink. This is challenging at first, but, you adjust. The second is eating too fast as it will cause a jam and discomfort.
I hope to benefit from BariatricPal by receiving support from other who are going through what I am going through. I hope to share recipes and ideas with others. I look forward to the friendships that can be made.
God Bless
