    Back to work :-(

Hi, I was so scared to go back to work and be in the "real" world. I drank 3 premier Protein drinks. I was fine with just that and got my 90 grams of protein a day. Then I started to bring Soup for a change. No one noticed, no one cared. Now I have a yogurt or cottage cheese and 4 ritz crackers. I am 5 weeks out and doing fine. My only problem is being with others at times and needing to eat slow. It will work out. Just remember protein first!!! If the premier Protein shake is too heavy for your new tummy, cut it with milk. Good luck. You will be fine.
  2. I just have a Premier Protein for Breakfast and one on the way home from work, so I have energy to exercise. Then the cottage cheese for lunch with a few ritz crackers or yogurt and no problem with the Protein levels. I love those premier shakes, more expensive but thank goodness I like them. They save me so I get all that protein in.
  3. Hi, I think you answered your own question and sometimes putting it in writing helps. We all know that you cannot change anyone. No one could change us, until we decided for ourselves. Someplace along the way, he wanted to change but something happened. Maybe he got scared but you cannot change another human being, no matter how much you love them. Remember: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can and Wisdom to know the difference. Good luck
  4. get up and walk, walk, walk. Even if you just walk around in a circle. It will help. Good luck. DId you eat it fast ?

    Antibiotics

I just went thru this yesterday and you need to get the penicillin in liquid form. You new tummy will not be able to absorb the antibiotic. It is not about being able to swallow them, it's about them being effective.
  6. If you are not on an anti- nausea medication - get on one! I took mine for a good 2 weeks. Sometimes only once a day but it kept my stomach calm. Also the soluble prilosec. Also did your surgeon OK the pills you are taking ? Good luck

    Shoulder Pain... Gas?

I agree with all the above but feel it only fair to add that my surgeon told me that if I had let shoulder pain to call him!!!
  8. I would go for scrambled eggs and/or oatmeal because you won't be able to eat anymore then that. I am 5 weeks out and when I tried some chicken, that went down just fine, no pain, no issues my NUT said, NO. She said remember, no lumps/no bumps/no bits and that is because little pieces can get stuck in the healing areas, then cause an infection, ect... She said I was fine but not to continue. She also passed on another good piece, I had also tried a cup of coffee because I missed it so. Again, it went down fine and she said, that's no the point, it will cause gastric juices, that we don't want right now Have a nice time out.

My NUT got into my head!

Just as there are good and bad doctors, there are good and bad nutritionists. Don't let her get into your head!! The same as with the people that thing we shouldn't have had this surgery. Don't listen. Sounds like you are doing great!! Keep measuring, keep paying attention to what you are eating and knowing inside your own head..........you never want to go back !! Keep up the good work.

    Tired

So glad to see this post - I am pooped!! I work, come home and also down for the count. No exercise, can't even think of it. So tired. I feel like something is wrong with me. I do recognize that I get all my Protein in and I average 700 calories. My surgeon said that all of the sudden my energy would be back........I am waiting Makes me feel so much more normal to see others are doing the same
  12. BRAVO!!!! you did great. Don't let those comments get to you. We do what is right for us - that's what everyone has to do for themselves. GOOD JOB!! And we all know, it's not, going to the gym and working out - we have done all of that and even more.

    Vitamins?

Hi, I love the fusion berry chewable Vitamins. I don't think they are bad. You have to take 3 - 4 a day but I think of it as a treat !! LOL
  14. so glad to hear that you are doing better!! Over the hump for sure !!
  15. I am glad you are asking about exercise because I will be 4 weeks out on Tuesday and I just don't have the energy. I work in my garden for 1/2 hour when I get home but that's it and even sometimes that seems like to much. When do you start forcing exercise ? My eating is OK I am missing some solid foods, and my drinking is fine. I get all my Protein in with the Premier Protein shakes - choc. but I am concerned that I am not losing but the calories are so low, I am tired, so I am with you - when do we have to force the exercise and feel a little normal.

    Need Help

Must say I feel the Premier Protein - choc shakes saved me. I mixed them 1/2 and 1/2 with 1% milk and they tasted like choc milk shakes. They have lots of protein. After week 2 I was able to tolerate them without mixing it with milk, so I always get my protein in by just having 2 a day and then my other high protein pureed foods put me right up to 80 grams or better Good luck. By the way, I could not stand the unjury protein stuff either.

    Milestone today!

Good for you !! Just went from 20 to 18 to almost 16 (just a little snug) ! It is the best feeling!!
  18. one more thought - he could be very afraid, that you will lose the weight and then leave him or the relationship will change. We all look forward to our new bodies but it can be threatening to those around us.
  19. WOW - I think I use to married to that guy!! I am sorry but congratulate you on doing so well. I just want to say one thing. You are pushing down your emotions and thoughts. I think for myself, that is why I over ate. I swallowed my emotions and thoughts with food, rather then to speak and release them. You had every right to expect support. I don't ask my man to change his eating but he is aware and is supportive. He asks would it bother you if ......? and the freedom to say no problem or ...it can wait, I am a little head hungry, it will pass, let me have a Protein shake, his response is - no problem. This is a very hard journey. We have had major surgery, our hormones have changed, our brain is struggling to figure out what to do, we are living without caffeine and some of our lifetime comfort foods and ways. It's hard and we need supportive loving people in our lives. Again CONGRATULATIONS on a job well done and I am glad we have this group. Hope this helps you.

    75 days post op

I am on track to be just like you. My 75 days will be around the end of June. But let's look at this in a different way. When was the last time you lost 37lbs - and kept it off - forever ??? We didn't get here overnight and we are not going to get to goal in a few months. I am pretty sure that just like me - you were asked how long we thought it would take to lose the weight. My answer was 9 months or so. That's a long way to go. Our heads say " I am eating a lot less, it should be coming off - 5 lbs at a time or that we should be losing a pound a day". Remember the days we over ate and then would get on the scale and not gain and think oh good ?? Hang in - it will come off - all in good time.
  22. This was such a good post. I love seeing everyone's different approach and now - even with the few I have told - they keep asking me...how much have you lost now??? I am sick to death of that too! It's hard enough to manage for me to stay off the scale and start concentrating on the BMI and my health, without having inquiring minds. I guess if I felt the people that asked, where sharing my joy, but there is an underlying feeling their not and if anything they are a little bit jealous. I even had a so called friend say - boy how easy is this for you ?? she is lucky I didn't hit her off the side of her head. Some friend. Oh well live and learn and she can eat her heart out !!
  23. You got that right Susysleever!!! I agree - they just seem to think I will never make it ! Surprise We got this !!
  24. I will be facing this problem on Monday. when I went out, I said I had to have surgery for some issues I was having. People would stop at that. I think I will tell people that really care or have issues with weight but I don't want the world to know, because I don't want the negative feed back. So I am prepared for just saying I had a hernia repair and some other issues repaired and you always lose weight when you have surgery - right? So then as I eat less, that will be due to the hiatal hernia repair and I will be walking at work and working towards my weight loss like I have been for YEARS!! but this time.........it's going to happen Oh yeah baby !!! I am on my way down!!
  25. Hi, I am only 2 1/2 weeks post op and I am drinking fluids fine too! I can drink a bottle of Water just like I use too. No guzzling of course but I am so happy with being able to drink fine. As far as food goes I am still on puree/soft food, like 1 scrambled egg, yogurt, refried Beans with sour cream (yummy) and as long as I take it slow, like 15 - 20 minutes, sometimes a 1/2 hour with the refried beans - I am doing fine. Good luck.
