  1. Wow thanks Marfar7.... This is why I love this site!! I ate a pc of LJS fish and omg I was sweating, cramping, bent over, my navel seem like it was abt to pop out my stomach..this lasted for an hr finally i had to run to the ladies room for abt 45 min, once i used the ladies room all the pain/everything stopped...i didnt know what was wrong or what was happening but I guess it was the grease, I hadnt had any grease in abt 2-3 months.

Are you happy with your decision?

Wow Im sorry to hear that...i noticed alot of wls patients state that they are tired or weak Im wondering if you are getting all your vitamins in and enough b12...we all are different and wls isnt for everyone...i hated bein banded for numerous of reasons besides complications...i wish yu luck and great success to everyone trying to be healthy
  6. They gave me the shots in my stomach while in the hospital. I got one the day of surgery and the next day. They gave me a prescription for them for 30 days I gave myself a shot for 2 days, the shot did not hurt, the medicine going in my let hurt and bruised my leg...I didnt continue to give myself shots. I was told to do alot of walking an keep using the leg suppressions they sent me home with to keep from clotting.....I walked a mile a day 2x a day the first week and 2miles a day 2x a day the 2nd week to help prevent clots....it didnt hurt in my stomach at the hospital because they numbed it...Good luck, not all drs prescribe the injections.
  7. OMG, I would never use them. My friend was sleeved on 1/2014 worst care ever!! I used Dr Stephen Hamn at Plano of Presby when I was banded in 2005. I loved him and his staff.

    Death

Feeling sad, yesterday a long time friend died of complications of wls. She had the gastric by pass in 2002 I believe and lost alot of weight but she was still considered overweight. Last year she had the sleeve and had complications. I am recently sleeved 4/2014 and just feel so in awe about her dying. I KNOW that there are always complications and risk with any surgery. I am just down and nervous and do not want to make any mistakes or have any complications.Feeling some type of way......I NEVER KNEW ANYONE who has died from WLS.
  10. I have a Protein shake everyday. I have a healthy lunch. I have Dannon light and fit yogurt as a snack, sugar free Jello as a snack, 100 calorie almonds as a snack. For dinner I usually have grilled fish, grilled salmon, baked chicken, kfc grilled chicken, tuna and a green veggy. I try not to eat over 40 carbs and I try to get 60 grams of protein or more. good luck

    Death

Her family said it was the duodenal switch.........I thought if you already had the gastric bypass and you got sleeved that is called duodenal switch...Not sure. I know we were all told we could DIE and about all the complications. I am just sad because I never knew anyone to die of the WLS and Im just nervous and want to do good and have good results. Thanks everyone for your concerns/post.

Are you happy with your decision?

I was banded in 2005 and revised to sleeve in 4/2014....So far I have no regrets and No complications. I am 20 pounds down and have been feeling normal since day 3 of coming home from the one night stay at the hospital...We are all different and we will all have different results and different feelings. I really like my Sleeve and its nothing like the band, no throwing up,no stuck food, no fills and unfills, no being too tight at night. Good luck with your journey and decision.

wow Im sorry to hear that, I was so addicted to bc powder and it was very hard for me to give up but I did one month before surgery...I only take liquid Tylenol, I would suggest asking the dr because the NSAIDS was a big issue for me as well because I have headaches and migraines all the time....I am so thankful that I have not had a migraine and the headache did go away with food and liquid Tylenol.... Good luck, I hope you find your answer

    Giving Up your favorite foods

Bread and beans is what I thought was goin to be hard but after eating 2-3 bites of Popeyes red beans/rice and getting horrific gas and stomach ache easy to say Goodbye!!!
  24. I had to do 1 week full liquid pre op, i week clear liquid post op, 1 week full liquid and then mushy/soft food...i dont ever eat over 500 calories and then i workout which puts me at 100-200 calories and sometimes a negative...my dr told me to focus on fluids so i drink a protein shake for breakfast and try to get all my water in...which I dont but each day Im trying harder to get protein and water in!!
