  1. Daly, How far out from your surgery are you again? I would just talk your doctors office or support groups as much as you need. I feel really lucky to have the surgeon and surgeon office that I have. I call or they call me like 2x a week and we talk recovery, food, life, exercise and my body adjustment or whatever I need. I suggest finding a group that you can do that with. As for the pain in the stomach area, I do still have that. It's not as much as it was at first and more so only happens when I do to much or try to lay a certain way. Your body needs to adjust so let it.
  2. Claire, Thanks for the reply! I talked with my doctors office today and they said I can have chicken cooked crock pot style so that when I chew it, it turns to mush. They also suggested cooking up chicken and making it into chicken salad using Greek yogurt! I can have raviolis as well, just not a lot or often, so I'm happy I also found out that we can have toast, tortillas or saltines during this stage just as long as they are covered in liquid that can make them mushy I am going to pick up some hummus tomorrow!

    March 2014 Fitness Challenge

So this thread inspired me and I went to sign up for a gym membership today. I called my pre op coordinator at my surgeons office and told her about it as well (we have gotten pretty close so I go to her about a lot of things). She had me give her a schedule of the days I will be going and she is going to check on me. So far I said I will go Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. I also walked about 40 minutes this evening while my daughter was at softball practice. It felt amazing!!

    February 2014 Fitness Challeng

If there is I would love to join it!!! I am in a work out funk and need motivation!
  6. I have the same problem. I am down 30lbs already but I don't see it at all. My pants are tight, in fact pants that use to be small are tight now! My doctors said that it's a matter of gravity. My body isn't use to what is going on and is readjusting itself to change. My lower role is sagging a bit more because the changes to the other areas are causing it to lower. He said just hang in there and know that it will all adjust properly soon enough. I cried but I understood. Just hang in there and don't be hard on yourself. I wear sweatpants most of the time right now so that I'm not upset or hurting.
  7. Wow that is amazing and inspirational!!! I can't wait to be there. I had my surgery on 2/5/14 and am down about 30lbs so far. I can't wait to be able to go on any rides with my daughter without worrying that I won't fit and be embarrassed when I am made to get off the ride. Any suggestions on how you lost so much so fast? Just seeing if there is more I can do!!! I feel like it is slowing down.
  8. Kim, Thanks for the reply! The vegetarian chili sounds great!! I can have meat just not red meat. I'm really weird about bleeding up my food so I have been doing everything I can to not have to do that. I need to try cottage cheese!! I just have such a big mental block on mushy foods (I don't like them because of the look and texture) that this has all been really hard.
  9. Hi everyone, Just wanted to check in. I am a little over 3wks out and starting by puréed foods. It's interesting to read the difference of how everyone's doctors have been doing their recovery diets. Some are way advanced from mine... Anyways I am looking for more puréed food ideas. I have been doing eggs with cheese (12g protein for 1/4 cup of food!), beans with cheese, tofu, carrots and Popsicles but that about it. I looked on Pinterest and found a lot of great ideas but not so much for this stage, mainly after. I am a really picky eater and I'm trying to out grow that but it's more a mind block now... Help!!! Thanks!
  10. Hi Tkauhi, Glad to hear you are doing good so far!! 17lbs is amazing. My doctor told me I was extremely ahead of schedule when I went in last week. As of today I am about 30lbs down. I went almost a week without loosing anything and was in tears over it until my doctor told me not to stress and stop weighing myself everyday before I go crazy! I get those bad cramps still with certain things but I also have been constipated most of the time since surgery. It's been a slight battle. As of today I was allowed to eat puréed foods/very soft foods. I had some egg beaters this morning with some salsa, some refried beans this after noon and then some ricotta cheese with marinara sauce and some cooked zucchini for dinner. The hard part has been getting in my protein and liquids because I don't feel like I have the room and most everything I drink tastes like dirt lately. Tomorrow the plan is to try some cottage cheese and maybe some tofu with teriyaki sauce. Maybe try food again not but make sure they are really soft. Google "Bariatric bypass diet" and a few links will pull up. Some have full on menus that have been really helpful. Hang in there and don't give up on trying food... Just be careful on what kind.
  11. Erin, Have you tried the nectar Protein drinks? They are more like juice and easier to drink. I was told that at least 80-100g of protein a day is needed and that is the minimum. Another thing I was told is to mix plain protein into the mashed potatoes and Soup. Have you tried that? Taking out the cheese may help too as well as the sour cream. Try seasoning with salt, pepper and garlic to taste.... Hope these suggestions help!
  12. Kim, Thanks for saying hi! I feel so lost in this forum. I have 1 wk to go until I can move to puréed food but at my follow up today I was told I can have mashed potatoes now, cream of wheat made normal and Peanut Butter... I was so excited about peanut butter!! Ha my doctor laughed at me. I'm down 20lbs (but the doctors scale said I was 3lbs heavier then the one at home but they said it was fine and to go by the one at home). How far out are you Kim? Any advise?
  13. Hello all, I had Gastric Bypass on 2/5/14 and am doing pretty good. Just wanted to check in and try to get to know some of you. I am on liquids as well (stage 1 diet). I'm not sure what the difference between liquids and full liquids is though. I was given everything in the hospital. I was also told to use the measuring cups they gave me in the hospital for all food and drinks. This is a 1oz cup and I can have liquid in it every 5 minutes. I am down 20lbs already and know that salt is probably the reason I have lost more yet. Anyways just wanted to check in and say hi. Thanks!!
  14. Erwin, Your post really hit home and I just wanted to say that I am proud of you for making the change on your own. I had the Bypass surgery done 12 days ago and am down 20lbs but honestly I am scared what will happen when I can eat food again. Just keep reminding yourself that you are worth it. Have you tried mixing in Protein drinks at all? I saw that juice was a hard one for you so why not use "nectar protein" instead? It's like juice and comes in many different flavors. You can get a sample pack for pretty cheap on mybariatricpantry.com or Lindora has a good wild berry one with 15g protein. This might help out a bit too with the protein intake and the need for juice. It has helped me a bit. As for Breakfast try through some turkey in with eggs and broccoli. You can add other veggies too or even peppers if you like. That is one of my favorite breakfast foods but don't have the potatoes with it, have some fresh fruit or cottage cheese. As for your energy levels, have you talked to your doctor about take sublingual B12 twice a day? That what they have us do after surgery and it's helped a lot!!! I love getting out and doing this now because I have the energy. Best of luck with everything and thank you for sharing your journey!
  15. I am less than 2 weeks out from surgery so still on liquids only but Jay Rob is amazing. I gave his Chocolate and strawberry protein power and love them. Since my surgery though I don't really like the taste or smell of chocolate so it's been rough with that one. They are "zero" everything with a HIGH amount of protein. I recommend them!
  16. Hi everyone! I am new to this site and am 12 days out from Gastric Bypass. I had surgery on 2/5/14 and am down 20 lbs so far. I am starting to feel like my body can handle something new but have run out of ideas for the modified liquid diets. Just seeing I'd anyone has some suggestions or maybe even favorites they remember having? I am trying to get in protein with every sip/bite but am missing the chewing motion. My vitamins help with that a lot and so do the sugar free Popsicles. I have been adding some seasonings to my soup broth, like a little hot sauce to add flavor but I'm not sure if that is ok. Honestly any suggestions would be great!!! Thank you so much.
