I'm glad you posted this, I think I'll give it a shot. My hair is falling out like crazy!! And it's thin to begin with so I have been getting nervous.
-
Blue can I borrow some of that hair?!?
-
Mine was thin to begin with as well. Hopefully the loss will be short lived for both of us. Congrats on your success!

Anyone else dealing with the dreaded hair loss? At the rate I'm going I'll be bald by the 4th of July. Lol...still worth it! Exactly 3 months post op today, down 55 total. No regrets

I am a single mom of a 12 year old boy and 2 year old girl. I am 9 weeks post op, I was extremely nervous about my daughter as she is very attached to me. Things went much better than I anticipated and I avoided any major catastrophes following surgery. Lol, I will say that it is sometimes difficult making their dinner and trying not to steal a bite here and there. Especially when I'm making them pizza. But the fact is I have to create new healthy food habits and this is just part of the journey. Good Luck to you!! I'm sure you will do great!

You look great!! Congrats!

What do your 3 meals generally consist of and how much? Can you give some examples? If you don't mind.

Thanks to everyone for info and support. . . down 50 lbs today!

That's great news!! Congrats! -
Painfully slow here as well it'll be 2 months on the 12th and I'm down 29 since surgery (39 total). Much slower than I expected, but I just keep truckin'. Hope everyone else is doing well.
-
Congrats!! Wishing you a speedy recovery!

My surgery was March 12th. I'm down 39lbs. I feel like the weight loss is a little slow in comparison but I try not to let that get me down. So far I haven't had any trouble with any food. I guess that's a good thing but I also worry I could fall back into old habits. I have also been a little slow at establishing an exercise routine which could play a big part in my weight loss numbers. I have gone walking for the last 4 days in a row so I am proud of that. I feel so much better when I know I got in my exercise. So to sum things up...I don't regret this surgery one bit!! But every day is a struggle to do the right thing. I just pray I can be successful. I'm so afraid I'm going to fail yet again.

Great job! Looking good!

It sounds like you're doing good. I've lost 40 lbs since my preop diet, but only 24 since my day of surgery. I'm 6 weeks out. So it sounds like you're about on the same track as me. I so wish I could make myself weigh only once a week but I can't do it. I'm in a stall right now, expected because it's almost that time of the month, but I've accepted that stalls are part of it. I pretty much knew when I got up today that my weight wouldn't have changed since yesterday and I was right. Not even an ounce. But I'm ok with that. It will happen in time. Yeah it sounds like we're right around the same pace. I'm not ready for a stall yet! Lol, but I know it will come . I would drive myself crazy if I weight more than once a week. I'm driving myself crazy as it is when I weigh in and it's only 1 or 2lbs. Just seems so slow for so early in the process. But I know everyone is different. I'm just having a little pitty party for myself since I weighed I this morning. I'm usually quite positive about this whole experience and life change.

I only weigh myself once a week. I definitely need to step up the exercise!
-
20lbs in 2 1/2 weeks is great!! Congrats!! I have been getting in all my protein no problem but I think I've been slacking on the water. That is my goal this week...WATER, and get 30 min of exercise EVERY day. Hopefully this will help.

How's everyone's weight loss going? I can't help but be depressed with my weight loss numbers. It's exactly one month and I'm down 17lbs. Plus the 10 from pre-op...so 27 total which sounds pretty good. I just can't help but feel like 17lbs in the first month is terribly disappointing. The good news is I'm not giving up, I can't. So I'll just have to get used to it I guess.

Protein Q's...a lil help please!
caseyann24 replied to hmjdreamingbig's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am 4 weeks post op, I'll tell you what my Nut told me. 60-80g of protein per day. I'm still having to use protein shakes at this point to help get all the protein in, but in regards to actual food she told me start with 1 oz per meal and work up to 3 oz per meal. Eventually you should be getting 3 oz of protein at each meal. 1 oz of protein such as chicken, fish, chili, refried Beans etc..is equal to about 7g of protein. Right now I'm eating about 6 times per day because I'm still only eating 1-2oz at each meal. Hope this helps -
I can tolerate the apple melon, the orange made me want to puke. They aren't the best tasting things but hey they work. Plus I'm sick of the premier protein shakes.I will have to look for that flavor. The shakes definitely get sickening.
-
What flavor do you like? I asked the girl at vitamin shoppe which one she recommends, I wanted to try one. She said "none! I think they're all gross!". So that was that. Lol, but I like the fact that they're 40g of protein. Plus the fluid intake.

I still have some pain on my right side, but nothing unbearable. My back has been hurting like crazy as well but the exercise seems to help that. Good Luck hope you start feeling better soon!
-
Almost 3 weeks post op (surgery was 3/12/14). Went back to work today, AND.....I went to the gym!! So proud of myself, feels good!
-
Now I am in preop! You look so happy! Good Luck! See you on the losers bench
-
Good luck to everyone having surgery tomorrow!
-
I had my son take a before pic of me the day before my surgery. I had the same reaction when I looked at it, OMG what was I thinking allowing myself to be caught on film! But I know I will be glad I took it when I can look back on it and see how far I have come.

I have a surgery date!
caseyann24 replied to crissymcclendon's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had my gall bladder out at the same time as my RNY. I wonder if it's a longer healing process that way. Still haven't figured that out. Lol I weighted myself the day after I can home to see how much I gained from surgery (I heard 10+pounds of Water etc.) but to my surprise I was exactly what I was the last time I weighed myself. Which was about 5 days before surgery. I'll weigh myself on Friday. I don't want to get to obsessed with the scale. It can be evil, I hope I can just focus on sticking to the plan. Don't get me wrong, I'm anxious to get on the scale. Lol
