Glad your doing so well! I hope I am that lucky! My biggest worry right now it my 2 year old daughter, I don't know how I'm going to avoid picking her up. I've already shed some tears over it. I know it's going to be hard. Especially since she won't understand why mommy can't pick her up. I'm a single mom so we're pretty attached to each other. I know it'll all work out, but that is my main concern. I hope you continue to have a smooth recovery

Congratulations!! That's a great accomplishment! I am also having RNY. Along with getting my gall bladder removed (I have 3 stones).

That's a great way to ring in the new year! I just can't wait until Wednesday is over and I'm on my way to a healthier me.

Those are the 3 things I literally lived on for 2 weeks. Sugar free Popsicles, tomato soup, and apple sauce. Those are definitely on my list then!!

I'm having my surgery on wed 3/12. Going to get the last of the essentials this weekend. Anyone care to share some of their "must haves", "life savers" they depended on for their first few weeks of post op. Any and all suggestions welcome. I feel like I'm going to forget something.

Thanks for all the helpful tips everyone! Getting excited & nervous.

Has anyone had their gall bladder removed at the same time as their RNY? I'm wondering if the recovery is more difficult. I have heard some people comparing the pain of gall bladder removal to that of RNY and they say gall bladder was worse. Does this mean I should expect more pain than most RNY patients?

Calorie Counting During Blended Stage?
caseyann24 replied to BandedBrunette481's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's true, there are many variations from one program to another. I'm also on the protein shake diet (it's very difficult) I am allowed one "real" food meal but I have just been having a protein bar instead. I'm afraid I'll eat more than I should at that meal. After surgery I will be on modified liquids for 3 weeks. That includes protein shakes, yogurt, smooth cottage cheese, strained/blended soup. Basically no lumps at all! After I go for my post op at 3 weeks out they will give me the ok to move onto stage 4. Good Luck with your surgery!! Your just 2 days ahead of me! Super excited! -

It is so difficult!! My surgery is March 12th. I feel like I'm starving all the time. I have been going to bed super early just to get through the days. Ugh! But it will all be worth it in the end. -

Nice to see a MA thread. I'm having gastric bypass on March 12th with Dr. Schneider at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. So excited! Started the process in November can't believe it's almost here!

Calorie Counting During Blended Stage?
caseyann24 replied to BandedBrunette481's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I haven't had my surgery yet (march 12th) yay!. But my program says 600-800 calories during stage 3 and eventually you should work your way up to 1200. However, I agree with everyone else you shouldn't worry about calories yet. My Dr. Says #1 get your water in!! And #2 get your protein in!! So that's what I will be focussing on. Good Luck -
You look amazing! Your an inspiration! My surgery is March 12th, I love hearing and seeing all the success people have had. Congrats!

How to Stop Binge Eating Before Surgery
caseyann24 replied to Mellie May's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can totally relate to this thread. I'm scheduled for surgery March 12th and I haven't lost any weight yet. I'm starting my pre op diet tomorrow. I really hope I can lose a decent chunk. I'm so freaked about being turned away come surgery day. I wouldn't say I've been binging but I've had enough slip ups here and there to keep me from losing any. It's so tough! -
Hi everyone, my surgery is scheduled for March 12th. Starting my pre op diet tomorrow. Hopefully it goes well and I can loose some weight before surgery. I haven't lost any weight as of yet. I would be devastated if they postponed my surgery for not losing enough weight. Good Luck everyone!

Congrats!! It's funny, I said to the nurse after she took my height and said 5'2" and a 1/2. I said "I like to say 5'3" lol. She said "nope! Your 5'2" and a half". Good luck with your surgery! I'm sure you'll do great -

Hi everyone! I have been lurking around many WLS sites for months, this is my first time posting. I'm having the Roux n Y bypass on March 12th. I can't believe how close it is! I'm getting nervous, but I'm far more excited than I am nervous. A little about me...I'm 37 single mom of a 12yr old boy and 2yr old girl. I have struggled with my weight pretty much since I can remember. However it has really spiraled out of control these last 10 years. I'm 5'2 and a 1/2 (lol) and 270lbs. I'm looking forward to a much more active lifestyle, I have a long list of "first's" to complete. Most importantly I want to be a better example to my children, as well as be able to physically enjoy time with them outdoors etc..
