For me the gas pains didn't set in until I got home. They lasted about two days. Walking and gas-x strips seemed to help. I remember my first night in the hospital I was in SO much pain, the next day there was a significant improvement. And the day after was a little better as well. I'm 1 week post op now and still have discomfort in my abdomen but I think I may have strained too much. I hope you have a speedy recovery!

Hi everyone. I'm exactly one week post op. yesterday my 2 year old jumped off the stairs into my arms. Of course I had no choice but to catch her. (She's 24lbs) it felt as though I had strained myself at the time but nothing excruciating. Now I'm so afraid that I may have caused a hernia. Just wondering if anyone had experiences like this? Also what was your abdominal pain like at 1 week post op?

Thanks for your reply. I'm hoping its just the normal pain that comes with healing. (Fingers crossed!!) my post op is next Friday.

Casey, you may wanna ask in some of the post op threads. I hope you are ok, I have a 2yr grand child and she almost jumped on my in the hospital.Thank you for the response Blue. I thought I would check here first since it's fresh in people's minds. You tend to forget about pain after time passes. It's a good suggestion though, I think I'll try that too. Glad to see your home and doing well! I wish you continued success!

Ok so I'm kind of freaking out! I'm exactly one week post op. and yesterday my 2 year old was coming down the stairs, I was in front of her holding he hand when she let go and leaped into my arms. Of course I had no choice but to catch her. It hurt my belly. Now I'm freaking out thinking I may have caused a hernia. So I guess my question is...for those of you who are post op, what was your abdominal pain like at 1 week out?

Recovery is going very well actually. Haven't had any trouble with nausea or keeping things down. Well so far anyway (fingers crossed). I'm having some back pain along with abdominal. I'm just a little concerned because I had an incident where my 2 year old daughter kind of jumped off the stairs into my arms, I had no choice but to catch her. I hope I didn't cause a hernia. I can't tell if it's just normal post op pain or if it's something like a hernia. I have my post op appointment on the 28th so we'll see. Otherwise I feel like it's going great! I have no regrets! The good thing about the pre op diet is it means your super close to your surgery date! Are you excited or nervous?

Congrats on getting your date!! I am exactly one week post op. the pre op diet sucked not going to lie. BUT it does get easier after the first 3-5 days. For me I just kind of looked at it as though I was already eating like I would post op. it's more mind over matter. Good Luck!!

Wow twins? I give you credit there! I also have a 12 yr old boy who I was hoping would be a little more helpful. But at the same time, it's not his responsibility. So I just keep pushing through. This is something I really wanted for me and for my kids so I will survive these little hurdles. 13 lbs? Congrats!! That's great! I haven't weighed myself yet. I'm only 4 days out, plus I figure there's a lot of fluid built up etc.. I'll wait until 1 week.

. Welcome Sharman! That's a great question, hopefully someone has some excellent suggestions,I will be alone too.I'm going to be alone recovery as well, but that's my choice. I have told no one except my two kids , But I prefer to not have people hovering over me Lol. Good luck to us aloners!!I have found it to be quite a challenge taking care of my 2yr old daughter. This is one time I wish I weren't a single parent. I was on the verge of tears this morning because I was in pain from overdoing it a bit. I was afraid to take the pain meds because I knew I would fall asleep. Not to long after, My daughter ended up taking a long nap and so did I so it worked out. But man it's tough. On the plus side, at least I can't be lazy. She keeps me on my toes.

I am 3 days post op. today is my first day officially trying to get in all the water & protein. It's really hard!! I took my 2 medications first thing this morning and was unable to take anything else for a while. I have only gotten in 2oz of protein shake, 12oz of water, and a sf Popsicle. I found it a little easier yesterday. Maybe the meds threw me off? Yesterday I was drinking warm herbal tea and that seemed to go down well. But today it doesn't appeal to me. Maybe it's just an off day. Hope all post-oppers are doing well. Best wishes to those gearing up for their big day. Casey

Hi everyone, surgery was yesterday at 11:15 Dr said everything went well. I was in A LOT of pain last night. Today was a little better, still quite a bit of pain but it's an improvement from yesterday. Had my GI test this afternoon and that went well. Just started sipping on water two hours ago. Just taking it one day at a time. No regrets!! Glad to see others are doing well too. To those awaiting their surgery, best of Luck!! Casey

I felt the same way when I went to my pre-op appointment. Surgery is the day after tomorrow for me! Can't believe it!

Good luck with your surgery! I'm sure you'll do great. I am also a single mommy, having surgery on Wednesday. I have the same worries. Just think of how much more we'll get to do with out munchkins when we are at a healthier weight. Keep us posted!
