I put on a pair of yoga pants, size 3x. They were too big, but I left them on. By the time I got to the kitchen, they fell down!

Seven years agoI took care of my mom through dealing with lung cancer. It was one of the hardest times in my life - I ate myself up to 320 pounds, the most I ever weighed. Be gentle with yourself Smiley. Try really hard to plan your food and don't get caught without it. Use this group as much as you need to. Hang in there.

I WAS SO DUMB Tonight I went to dinner with a friend. We went to a vegetarian restaurant. Before I left, I studied the whole menu and made some decisions. Then, when we go there I forgot everything and ordered a salad. Lots of raw veggies. I got really sick, had to leave early. Ultimately, I threw up on the way home, foamie stuff. Not a good night. My body continues to teach me.

clothes. I agree! I have two pair of jeans that are not too big. The shirt situation is not so bad because I can wear them a bit longer. I am going to sell some of my good clothes (flax, eileen fisher, ralph lauren) on ebay to get some extra money for clothes. But I'm doing a lot of laundry. I won't complain about this. It is a celebration.

I am an ICU nurse, not your doctor, but I can tell you this: NSAIDs are corrosive to the linings of your digestive tract. Your have very little gastric breakdown because you have a small pouch. That ibuprofen will erode in the places where the new connections have been made. This could lead to a leak and potentially very serious complications. Talk to your doc about options, but don't fool with the ibuprofen. Seriously. There are very good reasons why your doctor warned you against it.

I would caution everyone on where they get their information. If it's online doesn't mean it's true. One way or the other. Medical advice comes from medical sources, right?

I want to go and buy new clothes but feel wasteful because they will be potato sacks soon after. Geez. I did not think this through. At first I was excited by clothes were getting loose but then they were too loose. Next, I purchased a few things. Now those are loose. You should see my closet now. It's like a desert in there. A lot of empty space and a few cacti here and there. I only left the wearable stuff in. It was a huge job, I tell you. The Salvation Army is going to have a windfall this week
What are you all doing about clothing?

wildGoose got a reaction from Alex Brecher in Why Did You Choose Your Specific Type of Weight Loss Surgery?
I voted for "only covers 1 type" but actually, in California, Medicare will cover 2 - RNY or Lapband. I chose RNY because of how restrictive it can be. I wanted "fear of dumping" but it has not happened!!

I had no pain either. I kept waiting for it, but it just didn't happen. Slept in my own bed.

Back Pain, etc: Hi All: I have not really had back pain, yet, but I have had knee and ankle pain. Mostly after walks. My PA says that this is because with rapid weight loss, which is basically what is happening to us, our ligaments need time to re-establish themselves with our bones. Since it is your back ... well, I don't know. But rest is perhaps the best way to go.

My PA told me about one woman who had a reversal of her RNY. When you have the reversal, you do gain all the lost weight back pretty quickly and then some. Please remember that if you do this, and then change your mind, you will be hard pressed to have another procedure. One of the greatest joys in this two 9 weeks of my RNY is that I no longer have MORBID obesity. Now I am "just" obese. To me just not having "morbid" in my diagnosis is worth everything.
I urge you to wait. Also, speak with your surgeon and a psychologist if possible. Please let us know what happens.

I chose the bypass for two major reasons:
The dumping syndrome would hold me accountable to make better eating choices anytime I put something in my body.
The bypass has a longer history and more years of data to back up scientific claims. The sleeve may work just as well, or better, but the bypass has results of patients dating more than 10 years back.

Theoretically, yes. But good luck fining a surgeon who would do it. Plus, your "plumbing" would never be perfectly the same. That being said, what's your story? I'd like to hear more. You must not have considered yourself "normal" to begin with or you wouldn't have had this done. Let's be honest; the maker didn't intend for humans to carry 400+ lbs on a 5'2" frame. That is not "normal". When did you have your surgery done and what are some of your issues?? Things evolve over the course of time. I'm always amazed at some of the posts as many times, these concerns could be so easily addressed by your Doctor. Maybe you need to speak to him/her. Or maybe you need to speak to a different one if you're not getting the help you need. If you want, you can email me at rtempes@cfl.rr.com. I'm 11 yrs. out and did have a revision after 5 years (to RE-do, no UN-do the surgery). Tell my your concerns; maybe I can shed some light?? Hang in there.

Once I finally decided, it took me a year. On the way, I was diagnosed with uterine cancer, had a hysterectomy, and then had to wait. By the time i made it to the OR for my RNY, I was really ready. I could have let my frustration stop me, but I just kept on going. Every step was a learning. I read everything I could find. I lurked around this site, read blogs and all kinds of statistical research. I had diabetes, sleep apnea, and hypertension, so i had no trouble qualifying. Having WLS is not an instant gratification thing. It is a learning. I still learn every day. Only 50% of the people who start the process actually make it to the ER. Hang in there.

It's been 4 months and I'm feeling great. so far I've lost 65lbs went from a size 3x to now XL/1x and I'm able to tolerate everything. I don't dump, have nausea or any of that stuff. I've been very very careful with my eating and chewing. however I am experiencing hair loss which I know a lot of rnys have to go through. it started around my 3 month post op but I think it has slowed down (I hope). life has been pretty normal.. I have more confidence now.. and actually feel good about myself. before this I was in a very dark place but things are going ok now. a little about my diet I have Protein throughout the day such as fish, chicken, Beans, etc along with my veggies. that's basically the only way I eat of course and I absolutely love it! no rice, no Pasta, bread, etc.. which I find is so great. I love this diet and will always follow it for the rest of my life. I l have no interest in those old carby foods.. anyways.. I'm really looking forward and can't wait to see myself on my 1 year surgiversary. I hope everyone is doing well and good luck to those now starting/already on their journey wishing everyone the best new year filled with great health and success. take care all ♥
