I didn't realize that I was bragging and how it would offend some people. I was more amazed at how much all of this costs. And I said I was fortunate, not that I had a fortune. if you will tell me how to delete this thread, I will.

I'm so happy I found this group again. In the beginning, this group was my absolute rock. I'm doing well. Off most of my meds, not being treated for Diabetes at all any more. Since I first went to my surgeon, I've lost 107 pounds. Now, I lose very slowly, but I am totally okay with that. I went to the doctor, well, his PA, and she told me I had to stop losing so fast. Imagine that. Things have been hard here as my neighbor's 8-year-old daughter was raped and murdered by another neighbor, a 15-year-old boy. I ate too much at first, but my food of choice was blueberries! People were talking about yogurt and fruit. That's absolutely my favorite food. I have it for Breakfast every single day. I love FAGE 2%. I gave up the non-fat because i realized I needed to be eating more fat. Every single day I wake up amazed that I can get out bed. I look at my size 10 pants and am sure that I cannot possibly fit into those tiny things. I've learned how to shop for clothes, though I have to admit it was very traumatic at first. My arthritis remains bad, but I go to physical therapy three times a week, and my legs are getting better. Everyday I am totally grateful that I had my surgery and that I have totally hung in there for almost ten months now. I won't lose this group again. I hope everyone is doing well. With love, WG.

Here is the thing. I figured out that would have to let go of everything I thought I knew about basically everything. My life has changed in every way. More than I thought possible. Please have the surgery and then wake up, open your eyes and see what happens. I promise, you have no idea what is going to happen. I Celebrate this every day. I hope you will too.

Remember that if you change surgeons, you can take your test results with you. A new surgeon will know how to get the records. The skill of the surgeon is a major factor in the quality of your recovery. Good luck. keep moving forward.

I have been going to physical therapy for three months to help with the joint aches and pains that I have started having since I lost a bunch of weight so fast. I go to a center with a hot pool, and the work is really helping me. I've always had arthritis, but never had pain until I lost weight. I don't know the answers to all this, but I do know the therapy is helping and I am getting better.

I eat prunes. They aren't the best choice, but I think they do work. The thing about Constipation, and after eight months, I feel like an expert, is that no one remedy will work all the time. At least not for me. Nothing works all the time. Personally, I like Smooth Move tea. But it is only for "occasional constipation."
Prunes, which are also known as "dried plums," have no added sugar. I'd check with someone on your surgical team first, but if they say yes, I'd start with one prune. Then, I would move up to two, etc. See what happens. I think the best thing for constipation is drinking lots of Water. I have become very good at this.

I'm almost 8 months out. Constipation has been my biggest problem. I don't want to speak too soon, but it seems to be better. I've lost 99 pounds. Now my constipation is better and I seem to be in a stall. It is always something!! For constipation, I suggest Smooth Move tea. Also Peppermint tea is a good remedy for your while GI tract. Once you are further down the road, you'll be able to eat more veggies and fruits. If you are having smoothies, throw in some prunes. good luck. it really does get easier.

I'm 61! Had my RNY October 28, 2014. I've lost 86 pounds since my pre-op liquid diet and am doing great. I wish I had done it 10 years ago when I first started thinking about it. It is not too late. Good luck!

Ugh! That is a doctor that should have his license revoked for many reasons. Hopefully you don't take any of his advice and find a new one.
After finally getting a couple of different specialists who have outstanding bedside manners I will never tolerate an arrogant SOB doctor again and I have dealt with many over the years of being so sick.
Good luck, please look for a new one!

The two things that are most important to me now are drinking Peppermint Tea everyday and drinking lemon Water (½ liter water and juice of one organic lemon) first thing every morning. the peppermint really settles my stomach. the lemon water is a great energizer and cleanser. As time passes (7 months) I realize the absolute importance of drinking liquids to keep losing weight and to keep you from getting constipated. constipated is the worst problem I have had. It is usually because I have not taken enough fluids. also, I use MyFitnessPal to record all of the food and liquids I have in a day. I learned very quickly that I could not remember everything I ate. A diary keeps me honest with myself. good luck.

How far out from surgery are you? I was a total Diet Coke addict before I started on the liquid diet. I tried it about two weeks after my surgery, and I hated it!! now I drink Water and herbal tea. The bubbles in soda are said to fill you up faster and, perhaps, stretch your new stomach. I'd rather lose weight than have a diet coke. ????

Before. I was invisible to people who did not know me. I was just a fat lady.
I still want to lose 25 lbs. when I joined the gym, I was treated like a normal person who just wanted to get fitter. Everything is different. I am 61. And my life is unfolding before my very eyes. The best is on its way. I'm so grateful.

I'm in my 7th month. I've lost 90 pounds since I went on the liquid diet. I have had about 30 seconds of regret - it is always followed by a massive dose of gratitude that I'm not carrying around a massive amount of weight that I could not lift. It isn't easy, that's for sure. I could always stand to eat a whole pizza or a half box of Pasta. But I have come to love a whole new set of foods. I try to focus on how much better I feel. I'm off my metformin, and my blood pressure meds are cut in half. My life is different in every way. Please focus on the good stuff. It will get better. Keep going.
