ONLY? 65 pounds in 6 months is an amazing weight loss. I think you are being a little unrealistic about your body's ability to keep functioning and shedding weight more quickly. Weight stalls are a reality of this process. Some people stay at the same weight for a month. If you are following your plan and exercising there is nothing else but stay the course. Know that I think you are doing absolutely great! Congratulations on your weight loss. you must be feeling so much better.

I think if you are considering Bypass and also wondering how much sugar you can tolerate, then Bypass might not be the surgery for you. Dumping Syndrome is real and awful. Yes, there are a few patients who never experience dumping syndrome, but why would you want to risk finding out if you are one of them? Also, removing sugar and high carb foods needs to become a lifestyle change for any success with any weight loss surgery. I was completely addicted to sugar and carbs, so having Bypass was not a decision I made lightly. "Nothing tastes as good as being 60 pounds thinner feels!" And I'm not finished yet!!
Good luck to you as you make life changing decisions! This is a great forum to find answers.

    Welcome!
First off- you need to stop spitting your food out immediately. It really messes with your digestive system and can cause serious ulcers.
Testing boundaries is normal for some people- I definitely moved onto soft foods a little earlier than my doc suggested but French fries and fried shrimp are going a little too far. Thankfully our tummies are small enough right now that you can't do too much damage. But it will slow your weight loss down, and you only have a 6 month window of maximum effectiveness. Plus it's the perfect time to explore new options and build good habits which is what makes this surgery so successful for many people. Why waste it?
I think you need to start going to support group meetings and maybe consider seeing a therapist who works with eating disorders. In my personal experience I know that I could not have been compliant without that outside help. Cravings and overeating are 99% emotional for me, and sadly that's something that the bypass can't fix. Learning to separate the emotion from the food is a key component to success for me.

I understand being anti abortion but I am baffled as to why know it how imperative it was not to get pregnant I understandyou didn't take more precautions, like you using a semipermenant method and using something as well. Babies growing in uetero don't grow from fat - where did you learn that? Hopefully you find an on/gyn who has experience in pregnancy post bariatric surgery, especially 23 months prior to when it's allowed. If I souInd harsh it is so you will take this seriously.

I haven't been hungry at all. There are times when I know I need nutrients, but that's not hunger. Yesterday was 3 weeks. Nobody made any promises to me. I had a few moments of wishing I could eat a pizza, but it passed. I think your head is playing tricks on you. Good luck.

I am 10months post op bypass and I can count on one hand the times I have felt hungry. It's a totally different feeling for me now than before. I deal with a lot of head hunger though.

I love the Premier Protein - chocolate and vanilla. My wife and 6 year old even loves them and drinks them regularly. We buy them by the case at Sam's.

    Are you pre-op or post-op?
Everyone has different taste buds and different brands, same flavor can taste pretty different. As far as the type of Protein that I use - I only use a whey isolate Protein. It is the purest form of whey protein and you get the most "bang for your buck" nutritionally. You should be able to find a GNC. They have plenty and the workers should be pretty knowledgeable. They should also be able to offer a few samples so you can try before you buy.
In the pre-op stage I stuck to ready to drink shakes. I bought Premier Protein Shakes in chocolate and they were delicious without being too high in fat, calories, or carbs. They can be bought at costco if you are a member.
    Best of luck!!

Pre-op (and still sometimes now) I also drank the Premier Protein. Chocolate's pretty good, but my favorite is the Vanilla- believe it or not to me it tastes just like yellow cake with frosting!
Now that I'm post-op I still find the convenience of "protein in a bottle" very convenient with my work schedule & have been spending time finding alternatives to the chocolate/vanilla humdrum. Everyone's tastebuds are different, but there's a lot of options out there if you're willing to experiment. Best of luck to you!

I love to have parties. It was always my plan that i was going to throw a "Last Supper" potluck where everybody would bring their favorite guilty pleasure. Then, !!AllOfASudden" my surgical coordinator put me on a liquid diet. There was no warning at all. I contemplated waiting a day or two before I started so I could have a few of my favorite meals, but I decided that it was time to stop messing around with food. I went out and got what I needed for this. She told me I'd be on it until the surgery so that is that. I am pretty glad I made that decision. I do look back every once in a while, but I have to do this. I am 61, and it is my last chance.

this is day 10. i am amazed at how good i feel. i had very little pain. my belly looks like a battlefield after so many lap procedures (hernia, gallbladder, hysterectomy, rnygb)! I came home to blenderized foods after 2 days in hopsital of Clear liquids. My tastebuds are changing. I used to love lentils, and now they taste like garden dirt. I've been having yogurt, Protein drinks, blenderized bean and split pea Soups. i have a lot of Water and SF popsicles. No nausea. I see my PA on Tuesday. Amazing journey. I'm learning so much.

I had my surgery Oct.28. I have no appetite what so ever. I can't even get down the pills (vitamins) except the chewables. The commercials on television are the worst. Definitely a life changing experience.

My surgery is 9 hours away. My last food in my old life has been eaten. It was Jello! I feel a wonderful sort of calm going into this procedure. My life will never be the same. I am so grateful to this group for all the support and help I have been given. My surgical date is 10/28. I know there are numerous people who are in the OR today. I wish us all luck, weight loss and healing. Thanks for everything.
If there was one thing about the "last day" I would have liked to know, it would have been that I put more energy into taking broth. I've had very little Protein, and I'm as hungry as can be. Push the broth on your Clear liquids day.
