  1. Hi. I waited over a year for my insurance to even have doctors for their bariatric program. Then another 6 mos to talk hubby into paying for 6 mos of nutrition appts needed to get approval. Plus told by nutritionist I also needed to lose 20 lbs b4 I could have surgery. I was set for no surgery till at least May so imagine my surprise when I get a call to schedule my surgery because the process changed to 3 mos of nutrition appts and no wait loss other than 1 lb required by surgeon to proceed. My surgery is scheduled for March 10, 2014. Super nervous but super excited too.
  2. Hi. I went to my first weigh-in and "Educational Class" today. I loved it. So much support and it was great to see the people who had surgery just yesterday and people who are in all phases of the process (months to surgery to 6 mos post surgery). This class is "taught" by the surgeon who will do my surgery. So informative. I am starting my 1200 calorie/day diet for this week. I have to lose 1 pound by next Tuesday, February 24. Then on the 24th I have to start my 2-weeks of Optifast 800 calorie/day diet for two weeks before surgery. Never thought I'd be so worried about losing 1 pound. But have to do it because if not my surgery will be delayed into April. FYI my surgery is scheduled for March 10th. Getting really anxious. Once again I wonder how it could feel so close yet so far away.

Starting my first day preop diet

Finished day 3 of my 1200 calorie/day diet. Actually doing good. Except last night I couldn't stop thinking about Taco Bell. Not sure why that but my mind wouldn't let it go. I have been going walking at the track with my best friend in the mornings and that really helps. Plus keeping busy also helps. We'll see how it goes as it heads to next week and my 800 calorie/day OptiFast diet. Just taking it one day at a time.

    having surgery tomorrow!

Wow! That's a lit if weight to lose before surgery. My original requirements were 6 mos of nutrition appts, plus 20 pounds weight loss before surgery. Then after 3 mos and 0 lbs weight loss the hospital called to schedule my surgery because my insurance approval came in. I've seen some other people on this site that have had similar experiences. So hang in there and do the best you can.

Starting my first day preop diet

I actually did good today, so far. I had 3 strawberries for Breakfast. Went to Applebee's for lunch and had their Under 550 Savory Cedar Plank Salmon. Ate the whole piece of salmon but only a couple bites of the veggies. Been drinking Water throughout the day. Also had two small pieces of unsweetened dried mango for a snack. Thinking of having a salad for dinner with some Protein. I'll keep everyone updated on how it's going throughout the week. Thank you all so much for the support and encouragement.

  8. Extremely nervous. For both the liquid diet, the surgery, & the aftermath. I'm very lucky to have my friend to do the liquid diet with me. I am hoping it jump starts his weight loss again. He half the LapBand placed over 2 years ago.

  11. Same thing happened to me I started in October they told me it was 6 months. .2 wks ago Nut called me and told me insurance changed beginning of year now it's only 4 months. Completed all requirements now waiting for them to submit to insurance. Hopefully they send out this coming week. I want to get this done already. .I happy, scared, nervous, stressed out soooooo much. I keep thinking if this will work for me..is it normal to feel soooooo nervous. .Plus keeping wls private is hard. .no one to speak to about my feeling except hubby. Lovelace Health Plan. They didn't even tell me they were submitting. Just called me up to schedule my surgery for March 10. I was shocked.
  12. I am still very nervous and having some anxiety attacks. It's funny because it feels so soon yet so far away. I'd like to know if anyone else feels this way.
  13. It feels good to know others are feeling anxious and scared about their upcoming surgery. My husband's best friend and my best friend's husband (same person) offered to do the diet with me. He had the LapBand placed about a year ago and had slipped some. Wants to help me and have me support him in a jump restart for him.
