Hi Ladies & Gents. Things are finaly starting to happen. I seen my Pysc Doc & had my required Physical. Got a pssing grade from them both. Now waiting for the Bariatric teem to call for a meeting with Dr. Cleveland. I have had a very Traumatic month. Just changed from a Dail-up to DSL system. DSL finaly arrive in my small remote town. (Puckett, MS. 300 people). I was helping my landlord replace a A/C compressor that went bad at my house and got on the recieving end of a big blast of freon. That made me sick for almost one week. I was just starting to feel better, so went out and started mowing my lawn. I drove over a Yellow Jackets under ground nest I did not know was there and started getting stung. I yelled for my wife to come and help me get into the house; before & shortly after I got in the house ; we were still killing them after I got in the house, I was stung about 3 Doz times. Went to the ER just to be on the safe side. Doing just fine now. WOW!! what a month. Now just waiting for that phone call. I'm going to call the Bariatric teem the middle of this week to make sure the "Doc's" sent in the letters to OK my surgery. Until next time, Don

THis thread does not seem to be very active, but people pop-in now and than. I post mostly on the 60+ thread, it's very active over there. As I said before, you do not have to be 60 to post over there. Everyone is welcome. I just had my psych evauation & Annual physical. Waiting for my appointment with Dr. Cleveland. Things look like it will realy happen this time. You said you were banded 17 months ago, how has it been going for you? It's just getting started for me. Things are just started happening for me and have a lot of things to look forward to. I'm going over to the 60+ thread now and see what's going on over there. I have not been there for almost a month. Exciting & nervious time for me right now, Don

    Mississippi Bandsters!

PS: Here's the rest of the post I forgot to add. I post mostly on the 60+ thread. ****************** Sorry to hear so many people are or were have trouble getting Banded. CMMC has been approved by Medicare. I have my 1st. meeting on Monday (09-08-08). It is suppose to last about 3-4 hours. They were suppose to send me a letter to let me know, but have not recieved it yet. I found out from another hospital that this hospital was "OKed". That sure was a blessing because I still would not have heard about it. As soon as the OTHER hospital told me I called CMMC as soon as I hang up the phone. They said they had one opening left next monday. (Talk about the squeky wheel). So there you have it, it's finaly my turn. Thank you for the Happy Birthday's, This could not have been a better Birthday present. Don PS: I have Medicare as my primary Ins. and Federal BC/BS as my secondary Ins. I was told this would take care of 100% of the cost. Time well tell. Thank you Cindy; You being Banded just 7 days ago and feeling well is very incouraging.

Hi Boys & Girls, We all are young in heart...Right!!! I sure feel younger than I realy am. Happy to say that I made it to another Birthday (09-01-08) ; But sorry to say W/O the BAND. Still waiting. I have put my name on the waiting list at a hospital in Northern MS (they have a one(1) year waiting list.) and a Hospital in southern MS. Not sure about their waiting list. But I still thing CMMC, that's the one close to me will be "OKed" sooner than ether one of the others. but it does not hurt to have options. We are getting lots of rain here in Puckett, MS from "GUSTOV" but the main part went southwest of us and missed us. I'm sure glad of that. Three years ago when Katrina hit we were w/o power for 7 days & 2 hours. I do not want to do that again. That's about it from the home front, until next time, Keep on losing all you losers. In this case, that's a good thing. Don

Hi, Skinnydippn still here, If you go back and read some of the past posting, you will notice all the waiting I have been doing; waiting for Medicare to "OK" CMMC to recieve the "Center of Excellents" so they can do Medicare patients. It's been another frustrating month with no word. I go to thier support group meeting once a month. I'm Almost afried to go each month because I'll hear those words."SORRY", not yet. I have Medicare and Federal BC/BS Ins. Not much more to say except I'm glad to hear most everyone is doing so good in losing. I hope to be there one day. Don

    New 60+ Thread

Thank you Joann, CMMC does have two(2) Doctores that do the surgery. They said that the last time they "RESUBMITTED" their finding to Medicare, it was just a couple of minor corrections. I checked with the hospital in northen MS that does have the "center of excellents" and they have a one(1) year waiting list. I am now checking with Huntsville AL. to see if they have a waiting list and how long it might be. I'll keep looking around. Don

I know what you mean by "waiting & waiting & waiting". I started looking into it sense about Sept. 2007. Finally decided on going with CMMC in Jackson, MS. I'm now waiting for Medicare to approve them for the "Seal of Excellents". Should be any time now. At lest I hope so. I'll be 66 yrs old Sept. 1st. 2008. I don't feel I'm TOO old to have this done. Good luck, Don

Hi everyone, Glad to hear about all the new people being banded. And all the weight lose people are having also. It's exciting to hear about the new Band (AP Large), I'll have to do some searching to see what it's all about and only two(2) incisions, that's interesting. Well, it's that time of the month again. Time for the Gastric Surgery support group meeting. (08-12-08) Still no word on when Medicare will give the hospital the OK for the "Seal of Excellents". I'm almost afraid to go and get bad news again that we well have to wait a little longer. But I'm going any way. I have gain a couple pounds and getting a little discourged with all this waiting. I sure wish I had known about the hospital close to Oxford, MS that already had it's approvel. I might have gone up there. It's about 2 1/2 to 3 Hrs drive from were I live. Might have been worth it. But it's too late now because it's getting SO CLOSE now and the people at CMMC are very nice people. Everyone hang in there; I'll "TRY" to do the same. Don

Hi Y'all, Nothing has changed for me, that's one reason I don't post regularly. I'm going to the support group meeting tonight at 7:00PM and am hoping I find out if CMMC has been "OKed" by Medicare for the "Seal of Excellent s" or at least how close their getting. Last month they said it should not take much longer than 30 days, it's been 30 days, so here's hoping.:confused2: After I get the go ahead, I'll be on here more often. Glad most everyone is doing good on their adventure into shrinking. Don

As you might have read, I live in Puckett, MS about 25 miles S/E of Jackson, MS I don't know anything about the Ocean Springs area. I post mostly on the "New 60+ thread". Your welcome to post there also, you don't have to be 60+. , but I keep an eye on the two MS thread I found. I go to the support group meetings at the CMMC hospital, the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM. Don

I went again to the Gastric Banding/Bypass support group meeting on 06-10-08. At the end of the meeting, one of the ladies involved with the process itself told me in an excited voice that the last submission to Medicare had been made and we should be hearing something POSSIVE withen 30 days, that was almost two weeks ago. Sooo, should be soon. Sorry I don't post very much, but when nothing is happening in my case, it's hard to become inthouwsed. Glad to hear BJANE & a few other people have just been Banded and are progressing well. I hope to join you one of these days soon. My wife (Nina) is trying hard to lose weight on Her own right now. In the Banding area, I'm going to be Her genny pig. Than if she is still not doing as good as she wants, she "might" consider Banding. My sperits are up alittle bit. :rolleyes2: Don

Hi Ya'll & special welcome to the new people, It feels like I'm one of the new people being that I have not been Banded yet. I'm still waiting. Going to the next support group meeting this coming Tuesday (06-10) night at 7:00 PM at CMMC in Jackson, MS. "MAYBE" I'll find out something new by than. I know that CMMC is very close to being "OK'd" any day now, but the unknown is frustrating. My name is suppose to be close to the top of the list, but will have to check to make sure it's still there. Glad everyone else is doing well or at least hanging tough while adjusting to the Band and the new you. Don

Howdy, Went to the monthly support group meeting (2nd Tuesday of the month) and found out that CMMC in Jackson, MS had to REsumet again to recieve the "Seal of Excelents" for a couple minor things. So, should not be much longer before the approval. Lets hope not. I'm finding out that some people have been waiting upwards of a year, if not more to get thier Date for surgery, so I don't feel so bad but it's still hard waiting. Sence I first found out about the LapBand and up unto now, it's been about 7-8 months sense I first started the jurney, not just the 1st. finding out about it.. I have been thinking of going up to Oxford, MS. to check into seeing how long it would be for me to have it done. It's a 3 & 1/2 Hrs trip one way and my wife can not drive on Freeways. Also, it seems that CMMC will not take much longer, might just leave things as is. Until next time, Don
