    Mississippi Bandsters!

Howdy Ya'll, I just had my 1st. fill on 12-18-08. After a couple of days I could realy tell that it's helping. Now I'm learning even more how to work "with" the band. My portians of food are getting smaller all the time. Even my plates are getting smaller. Sure is strange how little I'm eating now. Down two more pounds. That made me feel good. Good luck to every one in "2009". Don

    Any October Bandsters!??!?!

Glad to hear from ya'll, It's been almost 2 months sence I have been Banded and I'm doing very good. Just had my 1st. fill on Dec 18th and can tell the differents. I'm having trouble with what they call "Head Hunger" but I'm working on overcoming that. It's not easy when I can eat just about anything now,but a lot less, and in the past could do that but in any amount, that's what got me this way being about 100 lbs over weight. It's very easy to over come the band by eating alittle at a time longer that I should. With the fill I can over come that because it realy seems to make me feel full after eating just a little bit. So far so good. Don

    Any October Bandsters!??!?!

I don't post very often, but will now and than. I do read everybodies post to keep up with how everyone is doing and new people that show up. I agree with everyone about "we are not TOO old to be "banded". I was Banded 10-28-08 at 66 yrs. old. I'm doing very good. So far can eat just about anything, but just a lot less of it. The hardest thing I'm fighting is: in the past I could eat anything at anytime & any amount; now I have a hard time telling my mind, "THAT's TOO MUCH" and cut the amount way down; but it's slowly sinking into my mind the amount that I have to eat now, not what I ate in the past. That's where the "BAND" comes into play. I'll get there. I'm down 24 lbs now, slow but sure. Getting better day by day. If this is what you want, don't let anyone talk you out of it and don't let YOURSELF talk you out of it. With your Doctors OK, go for it. My Family Doc was all for it. I see DR. Cleveland 12-18 for my 2nd post op appt. and "might" get my first FILL. Not sure yet. I think I need one. Until next time, Don

Howdy, Sorry I've been gone so long w/o posting, but other than being a little lazy, consentrating on "FOOD" and what I can eat or not eat it's just been awhile. I'm doing very well. Have not had any problems, so far I seem to be able to eat almost anything with no problems. Of course I'm being very careful in chewing everything very good and no Water 30 min before & after eating. I'm suppost to be in the "mushy" stage right now but not following it as strick as it says. Still am very careful doing it. As soon as I went to more solid foods, I stopped losing for about one week, but now have started losing again. 22 lbs down so far. I made an omelete today with turkey berger, onions, two eggs, low fat cheese, yalonios, cyanne pepper, with a little bit of salsa. Maybe something else, I forgot. It was too bit for breckfast, so had 1/2 than and the other half for lunch. went down very good with no problems and I did feel full, very satisfying. I just made a protien drink I'll have before dinner time. The hardest thing I have found so far is making my mind think SMALL, but I'm starting to get a handle on it. I'm starting to get long winded now, so will sign off for now. Glad to hear most everyone is doing better as time goes on. Don

Well, I did it. On Oct. 28th, went to the hospital at 5:30 AM; went into surgery about 7:30 AM, I was the first one that day. Went home on the 29th about 10:30 AM. What realy suprised me, was they did not have me walking at anytime while I was there. I sure did a lot of sleeping. I did a lot of sleeping the last two days a home also. Today 31st. I'll try not to sleep so much because I'm not getting enough protien in yet. Over all I'm doing very good. Very little pain. I have been full of gas myself sense I came home, that's what made me very uncomfortable, but the gas is starting to come out now and am feeling much better. Pre and post-op weight loss is 12 lbs. Very happy about that. I'll start on Full liquid Nov. 1st. That's it for now, Don __________________

One more Oct. Bander here. Don Here, My Banding day is tomarrow (Oct. 28th.). Today is clear liquid day as well as four days after. Than 1 1/2 weeks of full liquids; than 2 weeks of Pureed foods. It sure is strange how different Doc's do different things in this department. So I'm getting ready today for a few things that need to be done and be at the hospital at 5:30 AM on the 28th. Tomarrow WOW!!! Took me one year to get this far. I told my wife NINA, it's taking for every to get to this day and than BOOM , "it's here". Well here goes, try to write in a few days. Don PS: Good luck to everyone. __________________

To band or not to band?

My name is Don, I'm being banded on Oct. 28th. I to wondered witch one to go with, but I did not like to have my "innereds" altered. It's been about one year sense I seen the add in TV. I'm 66 yrs old and a BMI of about 44. It's true you can have the band removed in the future but you can not think that way. It should be concederd purmenet and only considered to be removed in case of and emergency. As far as I have heared, that is very rare. My Dr. well not do the op if you have it in mind that you can have it removed. Haven the band filled is totally depended on the patient & Doc. Just do a lot of reading and searching and you well get a VERY good idea what well happen. I have been on the PRE-op diet and already have lost 10 lbs. Still have 5 days to go until the 28th. There are TWO different Brand names of Bands. LapBand & Reality Bands. My Doc does both of them, but desided on giving me the Reality. See" www.lapband.com and www.reality.com . I post mostly on the 60+ thread. Lots of info shows up there. Anyone is welcome. Enough for now, Don

Just started my Pre-op diet today. It's not as bad as I exspected. Morning: Protein drink Lunch: Lite normal lunch. Low fat; low calores, etc. Supper: Protein Drink. I should be able to handle that. The last week before my surgury date (Oct. 28th.) I'll become a "little" more strick. I go to my Pre-op Education class tomarrow (Oct. 14th) and right after that go to the hospital to pre-register for something, maybe for the EGD on Weds. Tuesday night I'm going to the Support group meeting. It's going to be a very long day. Weds (Oct. 15th) have my EGD, throut scope to make sure everything is ok down the pipes. Thursday (Oct. 16th) go to Pre-op Nutrition counseling; after that have a meeting with the Surgeon (Dr. Cleveland). No stopping me now, Don PS: Glad to see most erveryone else is doing well or progressing well.
