Hi! I am 51 and having a revision from lap band to RNY on April 3. I’d like to hear from someone my age or older… how did your surgery go? Do you think age makes a difference?
-
How are all my April buddies doing so far? I’ve lost about 20lbs so far.

My skin broke out right after my surgery! Omg. I am on week six postop and it is cleared up, but wow, it did not like the change.

A revision - lapband to RNY story! 4 hrs in surgery
pamela posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Welp! I’m 4 days post op. I had a revision from lapband to RNY and it was much more than anticipated! My surgeon told me I needed to have my gallbladder out at the same time (I had gallstones) so I was prepared for that but once he got in there he found A LOT of scar tissue from the lapband (mind you, it’s been 20yrs since I got it) and then a hernia!!!! So I was in surgery for 4 hours! I feel as good as expected I guess but wanted to give everyone a heads up… just be prepared for the unexpected! ❤️ -
Hello! I was just approved for revision surgery / Lapband to RNY / and am waiting on a surgery date. Just wondering how much time some of you took off work?

Hello All, It's been a LONG time since I have been on this site, due to work, etc! Now, I have a BIG question. I think my band may have slipped and I want to get your input. I don't want to run to the Dr. if there is actually nothing wrong. About 4 days ago I experienced severe acid reflux 2-3 days in a row (and i'm on protonix already) - to the point that my boyfriend could HEAR it! And now my stomach feels- odd. It's kind of sore, and rubmles around. Something just does not feel right. I have had a standing appt. for a fill next week, but don't want to panic...What do you guys think? Has anyone experienced this? Thanks for your input, ~Pamela:confused:

Hi Suebaby, Thanks for your reply. I went to the Dr. and it was a slight slip. He did an unfill and I go back in 2 weeks...I'm on liquids and mushies. He said we may be able to do a fill after that. We'll see. How have you been doing since the slip? ~Pamela.

Anyone in Houston attending the H3 Wellnesss support group on Nov 12th??? :alien

I had my 1st experience w/Carbonation last weekend! BIG MISTAKE! My stomach went CRAZY for a long while! It was all rumbles and gurgles...and I had guests over and they could hear it all! LOL! I think I'll stay away from it from now on...it had been 2 months since I had had any at all... ~pamela.

I'm in! Very cool! ~pamela.

I had my 1st fill on the 21st of November. 2.2cc's and no real big restriction... Last Saturday I was at a Christmas party and ate more than I should have- and the wrong things... Now I can feel my port and it is sore. Like dull pain. I'm just so afraid that I have really done something wrong or that my port has moved??? I also slept on my side for a long time, which I uusally don't do. I don't want to call the Dr. and freak out for nothing. Anyone else ever experience this? I'm just so worried... ~pamela.
-
Hi Heather! My 1st fill on Nov 21st was 2.2cc's... and I hardly have restriction... ~pamela.
-
maybe I flipped my port?!?!?
-
I had my first fill on 11/21 and feel no restriction either...I'm so disappointed. I'm trying to wait until after the 1st of the year to go for my second...but I'd sure like to be able to feel it NOW... I mean, geez, he put 2.2cc's in! ~Pamela.

Good luck to you Jessica! I have PCOS too...I didn't start to gain weight until I was about 23... 10 years ago. I was banded a little over a month ago, and even w/PCOS, I've lost 20lbs.

I had a turkey epispode too! The turkey was cold.. and did not go down well! Hurt! Didn't PB, but it scared me to death! Take Care!

Hi! Houston TX here also! ~pamela.
-
I agree... believe me, if I was able to take the time off work and have a personalized diet/exercise program like they had, I wouldn't have had to get the band. We bandsters work really hard also.

Houston here! Welcome! ~pamela.

I was self-pay w/Dr. Spivak... $15,000.00 and includes 3 fills... He is the nicest Dr. I have ever had! ~pamela.
-
Yep! This was my experience with his office... all up front! ~pamela.
-
I totally agree...

Hello All, I had my 1st fill yesterday and did the whole mushie thing...had no problems other than that my stomach growled all night like I was hungry. Have you ever had this happen? I wonder if it was "head hunger" or my stomach's reaction to the fill? Odd... Thanks! ~pamela.

Believe me, I know what you are going through. It took me 3 years to fight insurance, then look for self-pay options. Hang in there and good luck! ~pamela.
