Thank you! It's very exciting! Dr. Spivak only had me do blood work (I had been through the process before) and I went through my PCP so insurance covered it... although, I wonder if it may come back to me? Fingers crossed!

I was self pay w/Spivak and the 15K did *not* include pre-op testing. :-( ~Pamela.

It's my first day back to work since being banded... and someone comes in with a bag of candy for each desk... sweets have never been my downfall, but in the bag is an ALMOND JOY...which I love!!! LOL! Evil, I tell you! LOL! Happy Halloween! ~Pamela.

Fighting chance. You might survive the first onslaught of the zombie menace. Then again, you might not. You got 6/10 correct. Damn! I thought I'd do better! lol!

Hi Jini, I was self-pay also...and had my surgery almost 2 weeks ago. It IS a lot of money, but I was beginning to have a lot of problems...since the surgery I've lost 15 pounds...probably Water weight, but at least my feet and ankles are no longer swollen...I think I've made the right decision... Good luck! ~Pamela.

Lost 15lbs since the 19th... this was the first day I put my work clothes on and they are looser! People say they can already tell! I am THRILLED!

Well, tomorrow will be my 1st day back to work since I was banded on the 19th. I would have been back sooner, but came down with pneumonia. For some reason, I have been weepy all day when I think about going back to work. Sometimes my job can be stressful, but I have a good support system there, so I don't know why I feel this way. I just don't understand this...it's like the 1st day of school or something... Have any of you experienced this same feeling? ~Pamela.

Hello All, 1st, my pneumonia is getting better, slowly but surely...let's hope I'm better by next week. My question is: I was just asked out on a date for next week and this guy does not yet know I have been banded. I, of course, am still eating mushies and he wants to go to dinner. I'm thinking I can order Soup or something, but I'm trying to decide whether or not to tell him that I have the band. What if he keeps insisting that I order something else, or asks me if I want a taste of his food!? I don't want to be the girl in the SEINFELD episode that doesn't want to taste the apple pie and just sits there shaking her head like a crazy person!!! LOL!!! ~Pamela.

Hmm...Dr. Raj. sounds familiar to me... please do some research into his background. I'm just wondering if he ever worked in Houston and did Gastric Bypass... -

Great post! This is very inspirational! -
Well, I posted the other day that I was banded last week and still felt awful. I found out yesterday that I have a touch of Pneumonia! I kept using my spirometry bottle and my breathing was getting worse instead of better...so went to the Doc. SO, Instead of going back to work today, I'm off for the rest of the week and I'm on an antibiotic and have had 2 breathing treatments. I guess I am not so suprised this happened. I am very suseptible (sp?) to bronchitis, etc. My allergies and asthma kick my ass all the time. The doc did say, though, that he thinks my asthma and some allergies may get better with weight loss. Let's hope so... My emotions have been so up and down.. I am so ready to get on with it! I'm venting... ~Pamela.

Hello All, I was FINALLY banded on Oct 19th after months of trying to get the funds to self-pay. The thing is, I thought I'd be farther along now than I am. I expected to feel much better than I do. I'm still pretty sore and every now and then I think, "what have I done?!?" My back hurts; I am tired of sleeping on my back! I want to roll over on my side so bad, but it's painful. Not extremely painful, but I certainly can't do it. Today is Monday and I have to go back to work on Wednesday and I'm just not sure I'm ready. I have to say, I honestly thought I would feel better than this. I really did. Could anyone tell me how long it took you to adjust? I guess I need to hear that this is not abnormal... ~Pamela.

Thank you all so much for the support! It's nice to know I am not alone... ~Pamela.

Hello All! It's just a matter of time until I am banded. I'm just getting my finances in order. Anyway, I have a question about recovery. After the surgery, how long did it take you to get on your feet? Was there a lot of pain? Thanks! Pamela.
-
I just started taking Liquid Vitamins! You spray them in your mouth! They're great! www.vitamist.com ~P.

WOW Becky! Congrats on your weight loss! I have a fairly high tolerance for pain, so I am hoping my recovery goes as well as yours did! I cannot wait. I don't have a date set yet, but very, very soon!

Hello All, I am working on getting funds for self pay. Other than using a credit card if possible! Could anyone recommed a company that does Medical/patient loans? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Sincerely, Pamela.

Hello All, I am in the process of working to get banded and have a question. Does it hurt when you get a fill and how do they do it? Are you hospitalized? Thanks! Pamela.

Hello All! I am considering the Lap Band for WLS and wondered if anyone could tell me approx. how much weight loss to expect each month? Thanks! Pamela.
