Guys, what do you consider your ideal pants size ?
ready2getgoing replied to Alex Brecher's topic in The Guys’ Room
Give it time - it will happen - Started at a 46 and now I am down to a 33 or 34 depending on the cut! -
Thank God it's just a myth! - At a 120 Lbs. of weight loss - you do the math Things are "better" in the down under department without the weight but it's because the fat hiding what you already have is gone.
-
Congrats - Just keep with the program and things will improve quickly. I'm 10 months out at this point and down over 120 lbs. I cant say it enough - Follow the Program! - the early days and any struggles are only a memory at this point but it is all worth it.

If you have met your goal weight....
ready2getgoing replied to Riz2006's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No - I am at a point now that is smaller then when I finished high school and started college. It's a bit weird to say - but I'm smaller then I've ever been in my adult life - smaller then when I got married. -
@@Jerr_Bear - I hated shopping for clothes - nothing ever fit fight. I always felt the clothes at the big guys stores were too "big for me" and regular clothes were always too small and tight. In retrospect, the big guys clothes were probably the right size - it was my embarrassment in not wanting to shop there. Now - I fit comfortably in a large shirt and 34 / 36 pants - what a difference it makes in shopping and enjoying what I wear now that the clothes fit properly. Keep up the good fight- you'll get there!

Stalls are going to be a part of your new life - don't let them mess with your mind. The important thing is to not let them get you off program - just keep doing what you've been doing and your body will catch up.

I got my sleeve the end of May 2014 - my wife was very supportive and even attended support group meetings with me. She eventually get her sleeve in Sept of 2014 - now we are in it together now. As a guy - we usually loose weight easier then our female counterparts - It's not a competition. We are there for each other and support each other, we don't point out when we see the other "stray" from the plan - that's not what this is about. It is easier for both us when it comes to cooking and food - we know what the other is going though. Right now I'm about 10 lbs from my goal - I really don't know where she is - that's not really a question you ask of your wife - I'm just there for her and she's there for me. We were happy before the surgery and will be no matter where we wind up.

Congrats!! Loosing weight is great but seeing it in the cloths you wear confirms what we did was worth it! I know what your feeling -- 10 Months ago I went to the hospital in my 46 Relaxed Fit Blue Jeans - I am now walking around in pretty loose fitting 36 Regular Fit Jeans and am just waiting for them to wear out a bit more before purchasing some new 34's.

able to eat more than I think I should
ready2getgoing replied to Bruce Peter's topic in The Guys’ Room
At 11 days your still in the honeymoon period of you new stomach and diet. Liquids are not stretching your new stomach much yet - if at all. They are flowing right though. As you progress to more solids and eventually back to regular food you're going to feel the restriction more and more. As mentioned in a previous post - just because you can eat - doesn't mean you should. At this point it is important to keep track of what you're eating and follow the rules as closely as you can - soon they'll become the way you think about eating and become the norm without you having to think about them. -
Hang in there - it gets better!!!! I'm just about 10 months out and at this point I can pretty much eat anything that I want in terms of types of food - I just eat a lot less of what ever it is. I don't micromanage what I eat - I keep a few simple rules in place and enjoy my meals -- I always start with my protein first, then my vegetables and leave the carbs for last - if I even get to them or want them by that time. This is not to say that I've not had a slice of pizza or a piece of cake since surgery, - but they are the exception not the rule - if you're going to have something like that look at it as a treat not one of your go to foods.

About to hit the 2 year mark and no one still knows
ready2getgoing replied to clifdog's topic in The Guys’ Room
I started out not telling anyone except my immediate family and a close friend - I was afraid to tell people because I was worried it might not work or I wasn't going to loose enough weight or God knows what else --- but now at about 8-1/2 months out and 110 lbs lost, I've begun to tell people. Especially those who sincerely ask about how I lost weight and I think would benefit from knowing what I've done. People that knew me but I hadn't told and watched me loosing the weight - kinda knew something was up but didn't press the issue until I was ready to talk about it. No one that I've now told has had a bad word to say - actually most have said that it's great that I took control and did what ever I needed to do to loose the weight. It's an individual decision - do what feels right to you. -
Just a little hooray for me today - as of this morning I have lost 100 lbs. from my first Dr's visit on Feb 6th of 2014 !!!
-
Thanks everyone - no real tricks just work the program For me it's been Higher Protein - Lower Carbs (not no carbs just lower), moderate exercise ( nothing too radical walking, swimming, etc...), go to support meetings, only eat until I begin to feel it, take my Vitamins and Calcium, -- everything I learned in the meetings before surgery. I lost about 4 lbs / week on average for the first months - it has slowed down now but I expected that I saw the Dr about 2 weeks ago - he was very happy with my progress and was ok if I didn't loose anymore - I needed to get to the 100 lb mark for me! Now I want to get to 200 Lbs - 25 more to go!!! Thanks again
-
Thanks - summer time was easy - lots of activity - now I need to find things to do to keep myself occupied and active!

First off everone is different and you can't compare what one person has lost to another. If you are losing and things are going well - then things are working for you. That being said... I am 90 Days out from surgery. I have lost an average of just over 4 lbs per week since surgery - some weeks more some weeks less. That's about 57 lbs since surgery and another 20 lbs lost pre-op from the pre-op diet for a total of 77 lbs. I've not been in the gym at all but have been more active (swimming, walking, kayaking, etc). As far as intake, my regular day is Greek yogurt, egg substitute or Protein shake for Breakfast, small protein rich lunch (Soup and sashimi, burger - no bun, yogurt, etc) , small protein rich diner (chicken, pork, turkey, beef - all w/ veg) and usually a small snack (yogurt, fat free/sugar free pudding) . Chili has been good with Beans and made with turkey. Not many carbs if I can help it. I have not been perfect - I've had some pizza and a beer or two and I've indulged a few times when going out to dinner. Total daily calories usually add up to about 900-1100 on a normal day.

What do you consider your ideal pants size ?
ready2getgoing replied to Alex Brecher's topic in The Guys’ Room
I think I need to revise my goal of a 36 down to maybe a 34! Two months out from surgery and I'm already down to a 38. Went into surgery on May 27th in a size 46 blue jeans and now I am comfortable in 38's !!! -
Ability to drink alcohol post-op, your experiences?
ready2getgoing replied to PlzCoolerMe's topic in The Guys’ Room
Since surgery (May 27th 2014) I've had two beers at separate picnics and ordered one at a restaurant - I just could not finish them. They tasted great at the start but by the time I had eaten my food I just could not finish drinking them and they got warm by the time I was ready to try and finish them. Yuck - warm beer! -
I was 325 on Feb 6th at my first visit to the surgeon. Surgery Day - May 27th I was 303 Now, 67 days post surgery I am 260!! Half way to my goal of 195
-
Don't beat yourself up - what's in the past is in the past and you cannot change it - focusing on that you did or could have done wont change anything. You are moving in the right direction now and that's what matters. Look ahead to your surgery, getting prepared and focus on dong the right things moving forward to get to your goals.

Vitamin truth please!
ready2getgoing replied to geelynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
$75 a month is way too much - for Vitamins My NUT recommends Flintstones Complete - about $4.00 / bottle. I take 2 per day. I also take B12 sublingual and chewable calcium citrate. Total cost for all three supplements is well under $20 per month, FYI - Just had my blood work done last week and everything was fine. -
I would suggest you have him get his hormone levels checked - he could be experiencing some issues associated with them being off balance due to the rapid weight loss.

Not feeling any restriction at all..
ready2getgoing replied to Happysassyg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery the same day - after my postop visit this week I was told I could start on some blended / very soft foods. Drinking liquids had not been a problem for me. I had about a teaspoon of fat free refried Beans last night and wow I felt the restriction - it's there! -
Best of Luck ! My surgery was last Tuesday and things are going fine. I am sure you'll do great.
