I also forgot to add that myfitnesspal.com is an awesome tool that takes the guesswork out of tracking. I suggest setting up your account on a computer before downloading the app on your phone though as the settings i got said I needed almost 2500 calories a day! -

The head hunger does go away, I was constantly hungry at first but now find I am having to force myself to eat. be careful with the avocados they are full of fat, mu nut advised against eating them at all at this point. I'm good with that as I hate them! (too many years making guacamole for Chili's!) -

Just a heads up for all in the puree stage and beyond... A small cup of Wendy's Chili is 20 grams of protein, and DELICIOUS! I was only able to manage 6 bites in two settings but man I was sooo happy:) -

Tkauhi, The check-up went well I got in a little trouble as I had pulled a stitch, and I am a little dehydrated. I'm not sure how I got dehydrated as drinking has been a full time job. I guess I'll just have to try harder. I am exceeding the Protein goal of 40 so I was ok there. Now I have to shoot for 74 grams of protein. I love the premier Protein shakes, with 30 grams of protein I am sure I'll meet that goal too. I also got lectured about trying to rush things, I wasn't supposed to be eating fruits yet. All in all it was a good check-up -

Tkauhi, do you think maybe the talapia was too dry? I am scared now, I love Talapia and was planning on making it a big part of my diet. I'm 2 days behind you so my soft foods beging friday although I did try a little tuna last night and it went ok. I go for my first checkup today and I'm really excited to have that first official weigh in at the doctors. -

Its a bit deceiving the way they post that... I have only lost 20 lbs since surgery, the rest was pre surgery weight loss. I was put on the pre surgery diet about 6 weeks before surgery. I do exercise everyday, I try to go to the gym but can't always make it. yesterday I walked around Meijers for 2 hours for no reason just to exercise lol they probably thought I was casing the place! I made the ticker, up at the top of the page where it says hello your name click that and when the menu comes up click on tickers. -
Good Luck!

How do you feel? I'm only a few weeks post op and already I feel great:) I can't wait until the weight really starts to fall off!

Hi I'm Rickie I'm 36 years old, single, and with no children. I had my Gastric Bypass on Feburary 7th of 2014. I call it my rebirth day. I have had issues with weight almost my entire life. I have Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome, and while I can't blame everything on that; I believe it is a big contributor to the weight. I also have diabetes, sleep apnea, and thyrhoid issues. Not exactly conducive to weight loss.. In May of 2013 I started working with a company whose insurance covered wls. I started my journey on September 4 of 2013 weighing 354. Now that I have had the bypass, I am not looking back.

You are so right, I dozed off and on for a few hours then I fell into a deeper sleep, my aunt said while I was sleeping I was pushing the button on my pain pump! -

I start soft/pureed foods on Friday officially. Today I tried cottage cheese and immediately got sick. I have been eating cream of wheat almost since day one, I thought it was allowed on the liquids for some reason, it seemed to go down well and didn't cause any problems. I have seen a few people who said they had pain around a lower incision on the left side. I have the same pain, but mine is on the right and not really near an incision. It seems to be improving as I no longer cry when I get out of bed:) I'm happy to have found a great bunch of "losers" to share thoughts and ideas with, I'm looking forward to swapping recipes! -

I'm a Feburary straggler so I'm very excited about seeing this thread. I had surgery on the 7th and am down 16lbs already! I go back to work Friday and am excited about that. I am still on full liquids for the rest of this week and that does include yogurt, as long as its not the fruit on the bottom kind. I was worried too because I can eat a whole cup, but my nutritionist says its normal. When you get to the pureed or soft food stage thats when you see how fast very little food fills you up. -

Bring a cough pillow, or something to hold against your stomach when you move, cough, or try to get up. I used a folded up hospital blanket, it worked fine. Get up and walk as soon as possible after surgery, it helps keep your lungs clear. -
Welcome! I too am a newbie my surgery was 02/07/2014 I have found this site to be very helpful, I only wish I had found it before surgery!

Hi Beth, I too had to deal with pcos and hypothyrhoidism while trying to lose the pre surgery weight. I was started on the presurgery protien diet a little early, and that helped the weight come off. Maybe it would help you as well. Best of luck!
