What Is Your Beverage of Choice?

@ How do you know when you need revision surgery? Did you ask to have it? Did they tell you that you needed it? Just wondering because I am sort of thinking about it but I don't know what makes you qualify for it, why for sure you need it, and who brings up the topic first. Thanks!
  2. That does sound like Thrush and is common. Just see your doctor.

    Living alone

I live alone. I had my parents out for a few days but frankly, could have and should have done it without them. It was good to have a ride home from the hospital but I was pretty good after that. Didn't really need any help. However, your mileage may vary. I did shop ahead of time so had all my protein drinks, liquids, pureed foods all ready to go

    Munchies

It's head hunger--the worst kind of hunger and the beast that you need to slay. I'm 3 years out and still working on it. I'm planning on going to a therapist to work through it--someone who specializes in food issues. Keep your food journal, keep doing what is right--and just understand that you have head hunger, not real stomach hunger and try to work through it. If anyone knows HOW to do that, please speak up!!

Help me design a portion plate for our community!

@@reree6898 Absolutely!! Not just removable, but easily removable but only when YOU want to remove them. Otherwise, they should remain stable. lol

Help me design a portion plate for our community!

I assume since you are talking about something to take to work for lunch that it will have a cover on it--hope so. My meals vary so to me I would kind of like sections that snap together. These "sections" could be various sizes -- I"m thinking more bento box shape. Not really sure how this would work for the lid--would you have individual lids for each section? Or would they always result in a typical square/rectangle shape that has one big lid. I ask because sometimes, especially with fruit, you want to heat up some of the meal but not all of it so being able to separate it would be good. I'm a software user experience designer so my inclination is to tell you to go follow people now to see what they are currently doing and what would make their life better, in the moment. And then mock something up and follow them again while they use it and get feedback by observing them (we call this "Users in the Mist" where we watch them in their own habitat while we observe and take field notes--lol). But back to the design--having it be insulated in some way to keep food warm/cold would be awesome.

What Is Your Beverage of Choice?

Water mostly but lately I have been using Crystal Light -- orange, grape, etc. However, I just discovered that they have caffeine in them. Not sure why I'm disappointed in that! But I am. But water is my fave.

It was definitely the fish--too soon for that yet. Eventually you'll get there.

    Normal Appetite...

You will. Your stomach is still healing and will go through a lot of changes. This is normal right now--but will quickly change! And then go back. And then change again. lol

    NaNoWriMo

When I did it last time, I had learned about the "procrastinatory cannoli" -- can't have that this time. Must find a "procratinatory protein drink" or something special!

Fall Favorites: Share Your Recipes Here!

@@Alex Brecher Whoa! Hold on a minute. You can't just spit out ingredients to us for an amazing recipe and not tell us exactly how much of each and whether to bake or not--lol! Please share exactly what to do with this because it sounds amazing!: "beat pumpkin puree with egg and non-fat cream cheese and cinnamon for mini cheesecakes" That goes for all of you--I'm not a great cook. I can follow a recipe but I can't just guess what to do with random food. So please be explicit in how to fix!

    Ricotta bake remake

@@PorkChopExpress Such a great question! I've never actually made this, only read about it quite often. However, based on the ingredients, I would probably make it in an 8x8 inch pan. Or a casserole dish that can go in the oven. I might be wrong on this but that is what I would try first. But, if others have made it, feel free to speak up! Or, you can check on theworldaccordingtoeggface.com -- I bet she has this on her site and might have more info. Either way, that web site is awesome and has many more recipes and stories. If you make this, let us know what size pan worked for you!!

As soon as you stop taking pain meds and feel up to it. But don't drive while taking pain meds!!!! I stopped taking them as soon as I got home so could drive right away

    NaNoWriMo

I might if I can find the time. I did it a few years ago and it was an incredible experience. I actually experienced my characters telling me how the story was going to go which was really freaky!! However, I never finished. But I highly recommend it to anyone! I just wish it wasn't in November.

  20. Sweets. My head still likes sweets but I have to say, when I do have something sweet, it really doesn't taste that good. I really hope my head catches up to my taste buds! lol. I'm learning but apparently I'm a slow learner.

    Ricotta bake remake

Riotta cheese Bake Baked Ricotta with Marinara This is the one that everyone RAVES about! 8 oz of ricotta cheese ½ cup grated Parmesan 1 large egg, beaten 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Salt & pepper to taste ½ cup marinara sauce ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish. Pour marinara on top and top with mozzarella cheese. Bake it in the oven @ 450 for about 20-25 minutes (best) or nuke it till hot and bubbly.
  22. @@StefanieSparklePants Note that, though they are called muffins, they aren't really muffins. Just like the "mug cakes" that people make out of their protein powder aren't really cakes. But they are "cake-like" especially with the texture.
  23. I was told that 9 grams of sugar was my number to watch for though I do think that 10 is close enough to allow once in a while. I eat those Flapjacked muffins and never dump with them. I have had regular muffins and totally dump from them. And by dump, for me, I mean my heart starts pounding, I get lightheaded, a bit sweaty, and feel a bit like I might faint, and get very weak. It has never resulted in diarrhea. Once in a while, it might lead to vomiting but I don't think that is from the dumping. That can happen if I eat too fast or too much. I eat those Flapjacked muffins a lot but am pulling back a bit now. I now use them only when I am really craving cake or something bad--this is my substitute until I can figure out how to not have these horrible cravings. But, I was well over a year out before I tried them. You can also make your own with your Protein powder. I have never been successful with that but there are recipes on this site for them. That way you are controlling the ingredients more.

    calories

I never count calories, I count grams of protein, fats, carbs. Much easier. And yes, I count the grams of protein in a protein drink.
