Help! Stomach cramps
newlysleeved replied to newlysleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's slightly carbonated. I didn't think a 3-4 ounces would have that type of affect. Also some people drink carbonated beverages without a problem. I had this same problem when I ate fruit. I am hoping to be able to eat fruit on day. Also this was the very first time I went off track. -
I have am having stomach cramps. It's directly related to something I ate/drank (ice cream and angry orchard apple cider) how can I relieve this cramping or do I have to wait it out? I have had this one other time when I ate honey dew melon. All I can say is I WONT be doing that again.

Help! Stomach cramps
newlysleeved replied to newlysleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No it wasn't sugar free. I was out with a group and we went to an ice cream shop so I felt that I needed to get something and old habits sometimes die hard. Is there anything I can take when that happens or do I have to wait it out. I was better today although my stomach was a little sensitive. -

Gain after new food stage
newlysleeved replied to carriebeth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's probably not a "true" pound. A lot can contribute. Like did you weight your self with different clothes on? Did you way in the morning vs. at night? Are you going to the bathroom that can cause some increased weight. I think to go up and down just a little is normal. I wouldn't worry. You going great. -

Beside the uncomfortable feeling when you eat to fast or to big of a bit. Does this stretch out the sleeve? Because I do not want to stretch my sleeve.

This is my tattoo. I got it for my dad when I was a little kid we were always boating. And so I wanted something to represent our great times. He has always been my anchor. He kept me out of trouble and he is my go to person. I would like to get a tattoo that represents my mom but I don't know what I want to do yet. She passed away recently.

I was in the same boat. My dr. Prescribed me muscle relaxers and I took that for about a week they worked wonders. I am almost 6 weeks post op. And I was taking OxyContin and Tylenol and Ibuprofen around the clock. Then my suture popped and I feel great no more pain. I can sleep laying all the way down and on my side. In some people it takes a little longer for those stitches to devolve of pop. At the after surgery I could not walk straight up and down. If I sat down my husband had to help me back up. He was actually helping me with everything. Good luck.

1 week post op gastric sleeve
newlysleeved replied to lgray's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow at 1 week post op there was no way I could have went to work. I was still taking pain medication on a regular schedule and my husband still had to help me. It will take some time before you feel up to 100%. After 2 weeks I went back to work and I was super sore. So I think that it's common to feel weak and not very good when your returning to normal activity. -

Pain returned after 5 weeks
newlysleeved replied to beme2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YES. That is what is happening to me although i have not had a day go by that I didn't have some discomfort or pain. So last week was awful my pain was so bad and my tummy was tender to touch. I went to the dr. yesterday. Everything is fine all my blood work and everything. She gave me a muscle relaxant to see if that will help the inflammation and relax the muscle enough to com you healing without an extreme amount of pain. She said I could have moved wrong or sat wrong, stretched wrong to cause the muscle more inflammation. My suggestion is to call your surgeon to try to get an appointment to see what she/he has to say. -
pulled something in left side incision
newlysleeved replied to Sarahjane79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a follow up today. And I asked my surgeon about a possible pulled muscle. She agreed I must have move wrong to still be in this much pain a month out. She prescribed me muscle relaxer to hopefully calm down the muscle and hopefully take away some of the inflammation. -
I am a little sad today and really missing my mom. Going through this experience has really made me miss my mom. She past away 9/24/13 from breast cancer. When I first told my mom I wanted to have the gastric sleeve surgery her first words were ok as long as you do what your suppose to do. Meaning to follow dr. directions and not cheat and make myself unhealthy after the surgery. She was so supportive. I know that she would have been at my house everyday the week before surgery helping me get my house cleaned, doing laundry, getting all my food that I was going to need the first two weeks. And she would have been at my house almost everyday helping my husband take care of me. She would have been so proud of me and the progress I have made. Even though I am only 3 1/2 weeks out and 25 lbs down. She is my top 3 reasons why I did had the surgery. My family has been blessed we have not had any other sick people in our family we are a close family who try to support each other. I will tell you though we defiantly have our differences. I think of her everyday. And I know that she would not have wanted to me to be sad. Going through my own emotions during this journey and mourning the loss of her sometimes gets overwhelming. I think of all the great times we share and that makes me smile. THANK YOU EVERYONE for reading and being a great support. This site has been amazing.

pulled something in left side incision
newlysleeved replied to Sarahjane79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going through the exact same thing right now although I don't think that in as much pain as you are, but I am defiantly needing to take my pain meds. I don't know what I did to hurt the muscle, but I sure did I am going to the dr. On Tuesday. It sound like you should call your surgeon to make sure everything is ok and to help with some pain relief. -
To tell or not to tell mom and dad....that is the question
newlysleeved replied to rome's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This is how I look at this question. For what is worth. Most people seek their parents approval and when we don't get it is hard. During my experience my mom was super supportive and happy I made this choice and my dad was not supportive, but then I lost my mom she past away from cancer. Then my dad came around and he has been very supportive even though he says he would not have the surgery for himself. Of course this is not everyone experience. Your parent may surprise you and be supportive and again they may not. They do want you to be happy and you have to tell them that. Ok so here is my other thought. Even though they worry about you getting the surgery there is a 0.1-2% chance of complications (not to worry you) and they would be hurt if you didn't tell them you were going in for surgery. Also how would it make you feel if they didn't tell you one of them had surgery and told you afterward? How would it make you feel if their surgery ended up having complications? I know that I would want to know if my parent was undergoing a big surgery. -
What am i doing wrong?
newlysleeved replied to Zoumommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had this exact same problem. I thought there was something wrong with my sleeve. I thought that my surgeon didn't take as much out as I would have expected. I am not sure how many days/weeks you are post- op. But I think it has something to do with the brain thinking your still hungry when your really not. I am 3 weeks post-op and that feeling is almost gone. Now I can tell most of the time when I have had enough. Just remember to eat slow. -
My husband was not for my sleeve surgery, but on the other hand he was supportive. For the most part he was worried about long term complications and life style that I would have to lead. He has always said that he wants me to be happy and if the surgery was going to make me happy then he would support me. When I came home from the hospital he was amazing. He really stepped up and took care of me. When I started to get better he was uneasy and upset. He was/is worried about everything I put in my mouth. With that said our relationship is strong. You and your husband will have to be understanding of each other and communicate. You and your husband will be fine.

I am very surprised about how many of you had drains or came home with drains. I didn't have a drain and when I did my research there really wasn't a lot of information on the drains. And to the lovely ladies on her did you experience nipple soreness. Mine are crazy sore. I must be loosing the weight in my breast. Lol sorry for the TMI.
