  1. Dreamscometrue- I just found this posting and read it from the beginning of your journey till today. I love reading your updates. I hope you continue to log your journey for all of us to see. I plan on having the sleeve in May and am pretty nervous. I have one more nutritional counseling meeting next week and then I'm set to start my preop testing. I'm going on vacation in April so the doctor suggested I wait till I get back which would be the end of April beginning of May. I read about all these great journeys but I'm always so worried about complications for me. Keep up the great work on this journey of yours and good luck to you!!! It would be great to post some pictures of your journey and see how far you've come along.
  2. Let's keep in touch for the May surgeries. I love to hear peoples journeys!!

    Fab 40's shout out

I'm 45 and ready to start this journey in May. I've lost 15 pounds since January 31 with my nutritional visits.
  4. I'm on my last nutritional visit at the end of this month. Already had the psych visit and a visit to my surgeon to discuss options. I'm hopefully going for the sleeve option. I have a trip scheduled for the middle of April so the surgeon wants me to have the surgery after this date. Hoping when I get back I can start doing the pre-op medical testing and be scheduled for May. I'm getting nervous though. I have a husband and two kids and I always think what if..... I could never forgive myself if something happened and I left those kids and my husband.
  5. Ambwee- I also have BCBS Fep. What do u mean with the lapband on implants? I was planning on getting the band but now I think I'm moving towards the sleeve I plan on getting this in May I have one more nutritional visit then I'm going on vacation in April so they wanted me to do this afterwards. Anyone with Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal have any experience with tummy tuck that they pay for with the extra skin??

    Pre op diet

This is a great thread. Thanks for sharing your experiences with me. I am pre op and have one more nutrition counseling session left to go. I hope to have surgery in April but I'm going on vacation and the doc said to wait till I get back. So hoping beginning of May. I was all set for the lapband but now changing my mind to the sleeve. What made you guys choose sleeve over the other options? Good luck to you all sounds like your doing great.
  7. My doctor said since I am on two meds a day for reflux that the sleeve wasn't a good option for me. It doesn't resolved the reflux and could make it worse. Anyone have severe reflux and had the sleeve? How is the reflux now??
  8. Let me know if you go early. You can tell me all about it and what to expect. I started drinking protein drinks already to see if I like them. I bought premium premier and they are very good. I'm not even hungry with them. Today I made a chocolate one With frozen strawberries and 1/2 banana. Delicious!!! Next up. Gym time.
  9. I actually had the mind set to get the sleeve. I am on two meds for reflux. When I talked to my surgeon he said the sleeve was the worst option for anyone that has reflux. Said it won't resolve reflux as well as GB or the band would. Since the bypass was much more extensive, I choose the band. I probably have as much as you have to lose, but I'm committed to watch the food intake choices and exercise to get to my goal. When u read the success and failure stories, all the success is doing what the doctors tell them along with food intake and exercise. So I am hoping I have a successful outcome. Let's stay in touch and good luck.

    2 weeks post op today!

    Way to go!!
  11. Congrats on your surgery date. I have one more dietician consult the end of march and I should be ready. I'm going on vacation middle of April so the doctor wants me to wait till after that. So I'm hoping May also. From my first visit to the dietician to the next one, which was 3 1/2 weeks later, I lost 11 pounds. I feel good and really excited to start this journey. I read these forums all the time and love hearing peoples experiences. My dietician told me not to read this all the time because every surgeon is different and every person has different experience. But that is why I love this site. I can see all that could happen. Let's keep in touch for May bandsters!! Good Luck!!
  12. Great post!! I love reading people's journeys and ups and down, and the good and the bad. Planning on having the band around the beginning of May. Best of luck to you!!! Thanks for posting!!

    So I've been thinking =/

I was contemplating the sleeve and the lap band. I'm on two meds for reflux and my Doc said the sleeve would not be good if you have reflux. He said my best options are the gastric bypass or the lap band. Since the lap band is less invasive I'm going that route. I've been doing A ton of research and on this website daily reading all the posts try to get more informed. I plan on getting banded the beginning of May. Good luck to you.
  14. Congrats on your success so far. Hope when I'm banded, it works out like this!!

    Eating out

Whoops the send button went to fast. This sounds like my life I'm in the pre-op stage looking to get banded probably the beginning of May. We are gone almost every weekend with sports activities so what I'm doing now is planning my meals. I make deli sandwiches bring fruit bowls bring high fiber bars, hummus, and veggies. Sometimes it's a pain trying to get everything together but planning is a big part of it. It's hard when you see all the concession food and everybody else is eating pretzels and nachos and everything else. It gets easier each time you do planning. Good luck in the long run it will be worth it.
  16. Hi banders- My husband and I are going though the process of getting the lapband done from Dr Chua. We each had our psych eval and one nutritionist visit (two more to go). We met with DR Chua this week to explain the surgery options. Following a low calorie diet from the nutritionist and that's going well. Love reading updates from people. Like to hear your stories.

SE Wisconsin lap band pre-op or post-op?

Thanks for the Info. I think eating slower and chewing more is going to be a struggle for me too. I guess I think too I would lose at least 10 lbs per month. Well guess it took awhile to put on, and time to adjust to take off. Thanks for sharing and continue luck!!
