    MAJOR regrets

Thank you so much for the encouraging words and for all of your replies. I have to remind myself all of these issues are temporary and there IS a light at the end of this tunnel. My son (he's 5) has been my anchor, when I'm feeling down I look at him and remind myself why I did this and remind myself I will hopefully be here much longer for him! Again I'm sorry for the negativity, it was just one of those days. Thanks again for the words of encouragement!
  2. So I'm going to state from the get go this is going to be a negative post, but I'm having a really rough time and need to vent. For those that plan on responding with "maybe you shouldn't have posted this, it may discourage people who are looking into surgery.." Save it lol. This is a public forum and people coming here can't expect to see only positive things. Also, this is MY experience, and I hope others don't have as rough of a time as me. I was sleeved 4/2, about a week post op, and I also had a hiatal hernia repair. I feel like pure crap. I had swelling and had to stay an extra night, because I was swollen and also because I was vomiting pure stomach acid. I can't get enough liquids in every day to save my life, getting dehydrated and can tell bc I have dark urine. When I drink it feels like it just sits in my chest. I was put on Clear Liquids bc of swelling and just got the go ahead to move to full liquids. Protein shakes make me want to vomit so I have NO idea how I'm going to get my protein in. My hair is falling out. I still can't sleep on my side or tummy so I'm uncomfortable all night. I've been so depressed and just started back on my Zoloft which I was taking before surgery and it makes me sooo sick. So I'm trying to figure out if being super sick and nauseous is better than being super depressed and crying all day. The acid reflux is back and it's SO bad. I literally feel like I have lemon juice boiling in the chest and throat. Calling my surgeon in the morning for a acid reflux prescription. Today is the first day I've felt hunger post op...and it isn't head hunger, it's TRUE hunger. My stomach has growled all day and feels so empty which makes me feel nauseous. So yeah, needless to say I'm going through the regret stage hardcore. I'm so MAD at myself that I've done something I can't reverse. I know I have an awful attitude but I promise you all if you felt how I did you would too. I just want to eat a freaking pizza and go to bed. Whoever came up with the quote "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" is crazy lol.
  3. Thanks for the replies everyone! I hate sleeping on my back as well, but I feel a painful pulling feeling when I attempt to lay on my side so I end up just turning back to my back. I can't wait to be able to hop in my bed and sleep however I want!
  4. I'm 5 days post op and finally slept in my bed last night for the first time since before surgery, but I had to sleep propped up and on my back. I long to be able to cuddle up and be comfortable in my bed and to be able to comfortably sleep on my side or stomach. How long until you were able to sleep comfortably on your side or stomach?

THIS is how the first 4 weeks go...

I'm 2 days post op and feel like there is no end in sight and I will never feel normal again. Thank you for posting this, it's really encouraging especially for those of is stuck in the first 2 week rut!
  6. I had my surgery on Wednesday April 2nd, so I'm 2 days post op. I had a hiatal hernia that had to be repaired also. The first day I had acid sitting in my throat that wouldn't go down bc of swelling, now I'm battling the pain and soreness. I didn't have very much trouble making my laps walking around the hospital. Everyone kept saying walking is so important and it will make me feel so much better. I had to stay an extra night in the hospital bc of swelling, when I did the leak test it moved extremely slow so that's how they could tell it was swollen. I got to come home today and I never thought I'd say this but I miss the shit out of those IV meds they were pumping in me. I'm having so much trouble walking today, with EVERY step I take it feels like my stomach muscles and incisions are ripping open. Is it normal to have a hard time walking 2/3 days post op? Did anyone else experience the ripping pain every time they moved or walked? Everyone told me walking would make me feel so much better and that couldn't be more untrue today. How long did it take for the pain to go away? I know I will be sore and in pain for several weeks but I mean the pain where you can barely move or walk..
  7. I had my final appt with the surgeon today and one of my questions was the bougie size, he said he uses a 38. I didn't say anything bc I still had a long list of questions and never went back to the bougie topic. I've been thinking about it all evening and I'm really disappointed...I was hoping for at least a 32 or 34. I KNOW there is barely a difference, but every little bit counts to me. Before I sound selfish let me explain why it concerns me so much. For one, I'm self pay and I know I will NEVER get this opportunity again, so a revision is out of the question down the road. Second, I've known 2 people who needed a revision, and it wasn't due to them stretching their pouch, it was due to bougie size. Now I'm wondering if I need to try to make one more quick appt with him before surgery next week to discuss my concern about bougie size...or if I should just let it go and let him do what he thinks is best.
  8. I didn't gain any weight, I was very surprised. It may catch up to me but I'm hoping it doesn't!
  9. Well, I wasn't even going to post about this but I feel so down in the dumps so I'm reaching out here. My PRE-op 2 week diet consisted of 3 Protein shakes a day, I could have 3 meals a day with 3-4 oz of a lean high protein meat and 1/2-1 cup of veggies at each meal. I could also have an egg for Breakfast if I didn't want meat. The goal was to stay around 600 calories a day, not including the calories from my Protein Shakes, and avoid carbs. I know so many people who have to do all liquids and no solid food, so I feel so blessed to be able to eat..even if it's a little bit. I was doing so good until this weekend and I don't even know what happened. I just lost control and pigged out. I had headaches and was very irritable but I had lost 9 lbs since this past Thursday so it was encouraging and I was doing so good. Saturday I woke up hungry so I ate 2 scrambled eggs with a tiny bit of cheese sprinkled on it. I decided to skip lunch (big mistake) because I wasn't hungry and figured I could just eat a little extra at dinner. Dinner rolled around and my hands were shaking and I felt faint, I was TRULY hungry! I told myself I would have one piece of fried fish and one chicken tender. Once I started eating I felt this burst of energy and I felt SO good putting that food in my system. Somehow I lost control and literally pigged out. I don't know why I didn't stop myself but I had such a rush and it felt so good putting energy in my body and I just didn't want to stop that feeling so I kept eating. I soon realized that the good feeling didn't last long and left me feeling blah and lethargic, it wasn't even worth the high I temporarily felt from eating all of that food. I was so ashamed, I cried, and wanted to crawl in a ball in a corner. There are people who can only have liquids and they didn't fail...and here I was able to eat a little solids and still failed! I'm embarrassed of myself and didn't even want to post this. I know what everyone reading this is thinking...how I'm such an idiot for doing what I did. I know how the saying goes, if you fail in the PRE op part, you have a good chance of failing POST op. I'm not really sure what to do, I've jumped right back on the good girl wagon but my head is still hanging low. Should I try and make up for my mess ups this weekend by doing liquids only? I just keep picturing my liver cracking or falling apart during surgery and it scares me. Or him opening me up and not doing it because of a fatty liver. My surgery is supposed to be on the 2nd or 3rd (so about 10-11 days away)..I will know for sure on Tuesday. Someone tell me I'm not the only one who royally f"ed up my PRE op diet? Anyone have any advice or experience in the "cheating on pre op diet" department? If anyone needs me I'll be in a corner holding my head down in shame.

    Any April 1st sleevers?

Awesome! I start my pre op diet Wednesday and I'm excited and not at the same time! Excited because it means surgery is near but nervous because I'm scared of how I'm gonna handle liquids only for two weeks... It's weird that so many people have different pre op diets... What does your dr have you doing? I've noticed that about everyone's diets being so different. I was so worried I would have to be on all liquids but luckily that is not the case. My 2 week diet consists of 3 meals a day high in Protein and very low in carbs. Each meal I can have up to 3 oz of a lean meat high in protein, and 1 cup of vegetables. I have to drink 3 Protein shakes a day in between meals. But the day before surgery is liquids only. Not too bad! But I love me some carbs and most people do so the first few days will still be hard since my body will go into ketosis from the lack of carbs..but I GOT THIS!!
