Yep, still pre op! My dr appt and psych evaluation is next week, then my education class is on the 26th. My surgery should be scheduled shortly after that, and since I'm self pay and I don't have to deal with insurance it should be scheduled quick. I'm guessing mid April!

Wow you've lost a lot already! Very encouraging! Thanks for sharing

I found this website today while browsing at work, it was really detailed on what you can expect. I'm still nervous but it will help going in with a little knowledge on what is about to go down lol. BUT, literally everyone I've asked has said the psych evaluation is a breeze! http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3096263/

Helpful info about Pre Op Psych Eval.
MorganO87 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I posted yesterday about how I was concerned about my psych evaluation I will be having next week. I'm not concerned that I'm crazy (although it's debatable sometimes lol) it just makes me nervous I will say or do something wrong. I think I was more nervous about not knowing what to expect since I've never had a psych evaluation before. Anyways, upon doing some research I found a detailed website about what to sort of expect and wanted to share it so anyone else nervous about their psych eval could read it. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3096263/ -
This is another thing I'm worried about as well...I deal with acid reflux/heartburn on a daily basis and sometimes it's even hard to control with meds. Hoping surgery makes it better and not worse!

Today is the day!

Well by now you are finished and maybe even home, so wishing you a speedy and quick recovery! Looking forward to an update soon! -
I'm also on IG but I don't post very many "selfies" lol...actually hardly any at all. One of my goals from having surgery is to be more comfortable in my own skin. I want to be able to take pictures with my son and not be uncomfortable! I plan to make a separate IG account when I start my pre op diet to track my weight loss in pictures...but until then anyone is welcome to follow me on my regular IG account, find me under morganowens87!

Hey Beth, I'm pretty much in your boat. I'm 26, trying to get the sleeve, and I have my psych evaluation next week. You made a good decision to join the boards...I haven't been on here long and I've already met some awesome people and gained more knowledge! Just wanted to tell you good luck...I'll add you as a friend on here if thats ok!

Glad everything went smoothly...I love hearing from people who are only a few days post op to kind of get a feel for how they are feeling and what to expect. Wishing you much success on your journey..and a quick recovery!

Nervous about Psych Evaluation
MorganO87 replied to MorganO87's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I see you are 5 days POST op...I love asking people how they feel right after surgery. I want to prepare myself for the worse and hopefully end up surprised when it isn't so bad as I thought haha. So what's the verdict? How did you feel, and how do you feel now? Be honest -

Thank you all so much for your responses, they really helped ease my mind! My first Dr appt is on the 11th next week and my psych eval is the next day on the 12th. I'll update everyone that evening...thanks again! -
Anyone from Texas...near Bryan/College Station area?

I know it is different for all doctors, some remove 70% and some remove all the way up to 90%...just curious how much your Dr will/has removed? I would ask what bougie size was used but I know nothing about those lol

I've been to all those towns including Henderson, had family there.

I posted my story about a week ago and I just wanted to give a quick update! I am self-pay, with a little help from a family member. I got word yesterday they will for sure be helping me, so I will 100% be getting the surgery. I spent most of yesterday crying and thanking God. I feel so blessed to be able to do this for myself, I haven't felt this happy and blessed since my son was born. I go to the seminar tonight, then my first dr appt...followed my the nurtritionist and psych evaluation and then I will be all ready to for my surgery date! Woohoo!!

I go there frequently...I was almost going to have surgery done there since that's where my mom had hers, but decided to do it in my hometown instead.

Funding falling through- so depressed
MorganO87 replied to moonchild41's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just wanted to tell you I'm sorry you are going through this. My funding fell through several times before it finally came through. It really stinks when you make the decision to do this life changing wonderful surgery and then not have the funds. Hang in there, I hope things fall into place for you soon! -

Hi everyone! I'm new to the boards and I have a few questions about Gastric Sleeve. I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right spot, maybe I should post in the POST op because the questions are really for people who have already had the procedure. But, since I'm PRE op I decided to stick to this board for now. Let me give you a quick little back story about myself first! My name is Morgan, I'm 26 and live in Texas. I'm married and my husband and I have a 5 year old, he's the light of our life and the main reason I want this surgery. I've been overweight for as long as I can remember, it is something that I have battled with EVERY day. I've tried every diet known to man, lost a little, but gained it back and sometimes more. Obesity runs in my family, along with the issues obesity brings. High blood pressure, hear disease, diabetes, you name it. My grandmother was overweight and passed away from heart disease in '09. My mom has also always been overweight. My mom for the Gastric Sleeve done and has had much success...she has lost almost 80 lbs in 6 months. Since then, a number of her health issues have disappeared including her high blood pressure and sleep apnea. Her best friend, and her best friends daughter, both got sleeved as well. So I have an awesome support group! I have asked them tons of question but I want to hear from a large group of people because I know everyone is different. As I said before, my main reason for wanting this surgery is my son. We always take my son and his cousin places, and we go on vacation every year. I try to keep my son active in T-Ball and things like that. It hasn't been easy doing all of these things and being over weight. I want to be able to really enjoy myself when we go on vacations. It's not fun walking around a theme park in 100 degree weather and 150 lbs over weight. Mainly, I want to be HEALTHY. I want to look forward to summer vacations and shopping for clothes, things like that. Right now I dread them because I know I will be miserable. Being overweight has also given me fertilty issues. I'm hoping after losing weight I will gain some fertility back and we can try for #2 when it's safe to do so. My stats: 5'7" 295 lbs. I will be cash pay, so I'm 100% dedicated to this and to changing my life for the better. My concerns: I LOVE to drink, I drink a lot especially while I'm eating. I almost feel as if I need to swallow liquid after each bite and I know I can't do that after surgery. I know that part is going to be one of the hardest things for me. I know after surgery it takes little food to fill your new stomach up, but will I ever truely feel full again? I know my new stomach with fill up quick, but will I ever truely feel content with such little food? I guess what I'm trying to say is head hunger is one of my fears, and never feeling truely satisfied after a meal. Another thing I'm worried about it loose and hanging skin on my arms and belly. Has anyone's Dr given them any tips on that to help prevent that? The lady who cuts my hair was sleeved and her Dr told her that running in Water up to your neck will prevent loose skin, but I will be nowhere near comfortable getting in a pool for awhile lol! How long before I can swallow pills? I know my mom had to crush hers up for awhile and really struggled getting down all of her vitamins/supplements. Another concern of mine, we live in a 2 story and the bedrooms are upstairs. After I get home from the hospital will I be able to get up the stairs to bed? That's all for now, I'm sure I'll think of more things though! TIA for any responses!!
