Saw my dietician yesterday, she is quite happy with me to be on the thicker liquids and has suggested a transition over the next 2 weeks into small soft lumps. She also said not to worry to much about the weight side of things as this is quiet normal. My surgeon is apparently quite intense on his fills, I have my first one on the 24th (1 month post op) and he sees us every 3-4 weeks to make adjustments, I suppose I am lucky in this respect. Not unhappy, just glad its all over and maybe I should hide the scales and let the band do the talking. Jo

I was banded on the 26th and lost 14lbs pre op and only 2lb since. I weigh each morning and the scales are not moving I have no idea why, but just trying to ride it out. I am hungry a lot, but my surgeon puts nothing in the band at all. Yesterday I had I small pot of low fat custard 120 cals I small bowl of veg soup 50 cals some mashed swede and carrots with gravy 80 cals approx low sugar calorie apple juice, carrot and ginger juice, tea with low fat milk and a malt drink made with low milk. I just cannot use the Protein shakes. I am walking a bit, but not much at the moment. Jo

High would love to join, I was banded on the 26th so only 5 days post op so far. I must admitt though that I do not feel that really full feeling, unless I am not recognising it, lots of gas, but am now burping and popping so its coming out finally. My doc told me I could have anything that you can drink through a straw for now, but I must confess to 2 tablespoons of mash with gravy, yum. I do get hungry though so am going to make sure that I dont end up over doing it one day. I see my dietician on tomorrow so I will have a chat with her. I am not getting enough fluids in I know but I forget. This is what I had yesterday, what are your views. Bfast half a weetbix very thinned down with light milk. 1 drink of milo (malt drink) 1 small pot of yoghurt for lunch. met some friends in the afternoon so had a mango smoothie but could only drink 3/4. thin soup for dinner. In between I had tea, Water, apple juice but no Protein shakes cant bear them. Oh and I do drink a berocca Vitamin mineral etc drink each day as advised. So far have not vomited or felt the need to vomit. I think maybe my band will need a tighten sooner than later as my doc dosent put any fill in on installation. Jo

Well today is day 3 and I am feeling much better, still weak around the stomach area, but most of the gas pain has gone. Had a really good nights sleep last night in my bed on my side which is a bonus. My only problem is that I am already beginning to feel hungry. yesterday it hurt that I was hungry, so i have had sloppy weet bix, velish Soup and yoghurt (over the day not at once) and all seems to be fine and no feeling of puking. I have a feeling I will need a fill quite quickly after healing, but am going to do my best to make sure I dont over eat and will stick to soup, yoghurt and weetbix for now. I just cant cope with any more Meal Replacement shakes so am having milo made with low fat milk once a day and maybe the one shake. See the dietician on Tuesday so she should be able to give me some tips.

Jo

Well am back home and the pain isnt too bad, I so wanted to gulp a glass of Water down last night as I was so thirsty but was only allowed 30mls and hour. Anyway today I have been able to have a small cup of apple juice, a cup of clear broth, a replacement shake (not bloody Optifast though) and have even managed my much longed for vanilla latte. This was a treat however and not gonna be an every day thing. Have lots of gas pain, but havent need any pain relief at all. But I am blessed with a high pain threshold. Not sure if I feel hungry or just wind pain. Roll on a weeks time when everything has settled. I lost 6kg in my post 2 weeks which I was pleased about. Jo

2 Week Pre-Op question
joho replied to lovekatz1975's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That was me on day 2, headache so bad, and vomiting for 3 hours, I felt like sh*t. Anyway I have slightly modified the diet to include some fish or chicken and seems to be ok.. Hoping this isnt going to affect my liver!!!!!! I have lost 3 kilos in a week though. Jo -
Did your Doc require a pre-op diet?
joho replied to whosthatgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am on day 4 of the optifast diet and I went thorugh hell on day 2. I was ok until I got home from work with a raging headache, hubby had made me some boiled veg (which we are allowed with our dietician) I ate it gratefully and made myself a chocolate pudding to have after. I couldnt eat it and ended up throwing it away, I think proceeded to vomit on and off for 3 hours, still with a raging headache, I think it was carb withdraw. Anyway said to hubby about 7pm make me a peice of toast and a spoonful of beans on it, I felt so ill. I couldnt eat it and I couldnt even look at the optifast box without running to be sick. I ended up going to bed at 8pm after retching for 10mins uncontrollably. The next day I woke up fine and thought ok I cant feel bad at work so I had one weetbix with a little milk and ate that. Mid moring I had an apple (also allowed) and for lunch I had a salad with an egg. Last night was ok and back to normal. I felt fine. So I am determined to stick to it as much as I can, but I cant be like that again. If you are going to slip up it would appear that chicken/fish/egg added to your salad would be ok still for liver cleansing. What do you think but stay away from carbs. Jo -
I am booked for banding on the 26th September, but I have already had a TT. I had it done in Dec 05 as I had a huge overhang tyre. I am not disappointed with the result and am hoping that when I lose my excess 30 kg (which I know is not much compared to a lot) that my tummy will not be as bad as it could have been. I think that it will be reasonably flat and I have no regrets about getting it done. I paid $11k as I had only lived in Aus for 6 months at that point. At the moment I can sit down and still see my pubic hair, something I hadnt seen for a long time before (mind you I have to move my boobs out the way first:eek:). But I know that my boobs will be like empty sacks and I am already thinking that I might have to have a boob lift. It is so difficult to know what to do first. I am looking forward to the op in a funny way. Jo

I was at that meeting too. I am booked to see Dr Munro on 12th Sept and have already booked my op for the 26th Septmeber. I dont think there will be any hidden costs as he said that the total out of pocket would be that amount and not more. Obviously your medication if you require strong pain killers after will be at your own expense and normal stuff like that. I will let you know more after I have seen him. Jo
