How do you guys eat out...
CheleLynn45 replied to TeacherMommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was almost 4 weeks post op the first time I ate out. We went to Chik Fila and I got the 4pc grilled chiken nuggets. They were so moist and I was able to eat all 4 of them, very slowly. -
I got mine at Amazon too

I like to see my scale go down, but I also took my measurements the day before surgery and will be taking them monthly. I will be 5 weeks post op tomorrow and we took my measurements at my 4 week post op and I had lost a total of 26.5 overall. I also have been trying on my "to small" for me clothes in my closet and it puts a smile on my face when something new fits!! We need more than just the scale to monitor our progress. I also keep track of where I am at on the treadmill. When I see I have gone farther or faster makes me feel good too!!

I use the GENEPRO every morning in my hot decaf tea. I put a scoop in my cup add a little bit of the hot tea, stir it really good then add the rest of the tea, my creamer and splenda. I add it to 32oz of liquid. This way I am getting in my Protein and half my liquid for the day.

Threw up Vitamin
CheleLynn45 replied to melodyssss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have any issues with taking my capsules but I do always take them a few minutes after I finish eating just to be safe. -
I started with the Bariatric Advantage capsules at 15 days post op. I can swallow them ok, it takes a few seconds to make sure it is staying down, but haven't had any problems. I was taking them after Breakfast and dinner but now do breakfast and lunch since I was tasting them in the middle of the night. Yuck!! I wish I had a chewy caramel tasting Vitamin. I have my calcium chews and have no problem chewing them up and swallowing them. I know it can be scary when you have to start something new with your tummy, but really there isn't any other way to know then to try. Good Luck I hope they work out for you!!!

First Thanksgiving post sleeve...
CheleLynn45 replied to nursejenny07's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good job with your eating guys!! And Happy Thanksgiving!! I am only 4 1/2 weeks post op so I was able to only eat 2.4oz of turkey with a very little gravy on it. I put a kiddie size spoonful of mashed potatoes on my plate, but didn't touch them. I was full and pretty satisfied. -
You have to really look at the pics you have taken. I sometimes can't see it day to day, but when I look at pics it always helps. I can totally see difference!! Jut keep doing what you doing it is working! One other thing you might want to try is trying on different clothes. I started at 314.8 and at 4 weeks out I have lost 32.6lbs. I bought a pair of jeans that were a size 22w (the jeans in my closet are 26w) at Marshall's which I got for $7.00. Figuring I could get into them eventually. Well I put them on today to show my daughter and I buttoned and zipped them. YIKES!! Totally surprised myself. Things like this can keep you motivated and moving forward. You should also take your measurements monthly. You definitely look like you have lost inches!!

My main motivation is to....... STOP being a bystander as life passes me by!! There are so many other ones like most that Proud2BMe mentioned but that would be my number one. I am always on the sidelines it seems!!! NO MORE!!

Do you enjoy cooking still?
CheleLynn45 replied to kajunqty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been cooking almost daily for my husband and daughter. We are all planning out meals for the week and not eating out at all. I have really been enjoying cooking even though I am not eating any of the meals. I am 4 weeks post op and hope these feelings continue!! -
I am cooking Thanksgiving dinner!
CheleLynn45 replied to alyce20's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find there are a lot of things we did without much thought when it comes to food. One example I have is during my second week post op I was making chicken Alfredo for my husband, daughter and mom. I never time my noodles when I cook I always just stirred them until they felt done and then tasted them to make sure they were done the way we like the. So I'm cooking the noodles and out of habit go to try them and stop and realize.....I can't eat this?? So I had to call my daughter in to taste them for me. Once they were done I put them in a strainer to rinse them. Then I found myself reaching to grab one or two like I would and again stopped. It was so weird how out of habit I was doing things. Then I was making the sauce not from scratch but I doctor it up a bit and once again could not taste it to see how it was. Well I survived cooking that meal without eating anything but it really made me think about how I used to do things. I am now 4 weeks post op and have been cooking for my husband and daughter almost nightly. I find myself really enjoying cooking even though I cannot eat the meals yet. Tomorrow I am making a bbq chicken pizza recipe where the chicken is actually the crust and am very excited to try it, it looks so yummy and I posted it on here in one of these forums and then two people that had tried it said it was really good. So this will be the first meal I cook since surgery we all can eat. -
I got what I thought was my period 12 days after my surgery. I was pretty excited cause it was so light and only three days. Well, surprise surprise 15 days later I have it again and all HOLY HELL it is heavy. (sorry if TMI) It is finally slowing down and I hope will be done soon. But on a positive note, I did lose 4.8lbs this past week. And in the past I don't normally lose when I have my period. I am hoping next month will go back to being lighter and more like they were before surgery.

Chewable Multi-vitamin
CheleLynn45 replied to purplecatlover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take Bariatric Advantage capsules and Thank God I am able to swallow them. It takes a sec to go down, but it does. I was taking them after Breakfast and dinner, but changed the time to after breakfast and after lunch. After dinner was to late I was finding I was still "tasting" them in the middle of the night. Changing to after lunch has made a bid difference. -
am i really full? do you measure your food?
CheleLynn45 replied to DBLPattyMELT7am's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am only one month post op, and I am doing two Protein shakes and one small meal a day. Somedays I do one shake and two meals (even though my doc wants me doing two shakes) I get all my protein in and my liquids and I am losing so I figure I must be doing something right. I do measure out everything I eat. This way I know that I am getting in all my protein. My doc has me tracking my calories, protein and sugars. So measuring everything helps me with that too. I have to make sure to plan plan plan. That is how I get everything in. I have forgotten my Vitamin once here and there (I have to take them twice a day). But like today we had plans after picking my daughter up from her half day. I had planned to have my meal at lunchtime since we would be out and about. My daughters eye brow appt got cancelled so I had to reschedule at another Ulta here in town which put us not near anywhere I wanted to eat at. Originally we were going to Chik Fila so I could get the 4pc grilled chicken nuggets. So I had to change everything around, I was miffed at first but then I was like hey Sh*t happens and rolled with it. I ended up bringing a Protein Shake with me and drank that at Panera Bread while hubby and daughter ate. Didn't really bother me. Then I just had my yummy ricotta bake for dinner and I was all set. but like I said in the beginning.......I plan ahead because if we get stuck out somewhere it is not as easy to just run into a restaurant and grab something like before. Maybe once I am further out, but for now not so much. -
NSV for a newbie WOOHOO!
CheleLynn45 replied to LaLoLaughs's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
One NSV I have had, keeping with the car theme........... I hate pumping gas so much. I am very lucky that my hubby usually will do it for me. But for those times when he isn't around and I have to do it I have to get out of the car to reach the release for gas door. Well the other day my daughter who recently got her permit offered to fill my tank for me. She went around towards the pump and instead of asking her to hit the release for the gas tank I just reached down and did it. Afterwards I stopped and said to myself, "I just was able to reach down and release my gas tank!!" I know it is a simple thing but to me it was huge!! It has only been 4 weeks since my surgery and I have had a ton of these moments. I can't wait to see what other NSV's I have along the way as I lose more weight!! -
I didn't have that kind of excitement till right about now! I will be four weeks post op on Monday, and as of my weigh in this morning I am down 31.1 lbs. WOO HOO!! I truly feel like I can do this, and that I will do this. I am fitting into clothes in my closet I haven't worn in years (so motivating!!) and I just overall feel better. SO now I can say I am excited! I was so worried before the surgery of my recovery and exactly what to expect (of course I always think the worse) that the excitement wasn't there. I couldn't visualize myself smaller, but with this weight loss so far I can!! So like others have said keep that excitement going you will need it in the very early stages after your surgery!! Keep posting too cause that excitement can be contagious!!!! I keep saying I can't wait for next year!! I have a feeling it's gonna be a GOOD one!! Good Luck Laurenella82 along your process!!!

I weigh in the morning in the buff, and that is the weight I use for my pounds lost. At my 2 week post op check up I weighed in the morning at my house, then I got back on the scale fully dressed to see what my scale would say. Then when I got on the scale at the docs their scale had me at .2 lbs more than mine at home. Pretty close I thought. Either way the scale is moving down and I am happy

Ate my first egg this morning, think I am doing ok?
CheleLynn45 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tomorrow will be two weeks post op and today I started my mushy phase. I was excited and nervous. Made myself a scrambled egg with a little 2% cheddar cheese on it. I was able to eat the whole thing, chewing slowly in about 15 minutes. It felt different going down than the shakes and liquids did, but it sure was yummy!! My stomach feels full, it feels a little different than it did after the shakes or broth. I am just sitting down for a while letting it settle before I drink some unsweetened ice tea with unflavored Protein in it and take my walk. I was expecting to only be able to eat half of the egg though?? I am not worried though, I am quite happy that I was able to eat it ok. I am going to try turkey and swiss rolled up for lunch and then the ricotta bake for dinner. We will see how the rest of the day goes. And of course in between I will be drinking my Water. I am just so blessed and happy that my recovery has gone the way it has so far. I only had trouble with one Protein shake I tried not sitting well with me, (but I didn't throw up) other than that all the shakes and Soups went down really well. I find I can drink my water at more reasonable rate, I don't have to take such little sips anymore. That I like. So I am hoping in this next phase I do as well. Come on Sherman (that is what my daughter named my new stomach) together we can do this!! -
Going back to work
CheleLynn45 replied to Disney24fan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on 10/27. I took off five weeks. I only work part time. I probably could have gone back at three weeks but doc wrote me out for five so I am taking the five weeks. It has been nice to get used to all the new things in my life. -
Bariatric Vitamins and Nausea
CheleLynn45 replied to babelfish5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I called my doc's office this morning and the Kirkland sugar free chocolate chews are just fine for me they said. Continue taking 3 a day! I feel better and as with anything else on these boards it amazes me the differences from doctor to doctor. Thanks again though, it never hurts to double check on things!!! -
Bariatric Vitamins and Nausea
CheleLynn45 replied to babelfish5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a call into my doc's office, I will ask them about this. I don't remember them mentioning anything about either carbonate or citrate?? I know they told me if I didn't want to buy the Bariatric Advantage ones I could do tums. Thanks for the heads up, believe me I want to make sure I am taking the right stuff. -
Bariatric Vitamins and Nausea
CheleLynn45 replied to babelfish5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I use Bariatric Advantage Vitamins. I have to take two a day so I started with one 30 mins after Breakfast and one 30-40 minutes after dinner. For the first two nights I woke up feeling like I could taste the Vitamin. Didn't care for that at all. So I switched to after breakfast and after lunch. Much better!! I can swallow these vitamins so I am grateful for that. I also do my calcium chews twice a day. I was going to buy the Bariatric chews but they were $31. Well I found calcium chews at costco, Kirkland brand chocolate flavor and they are pretty yummy. They taste as close to a tootsie roll without actual eating a tootsie roll. -
Thanks for starting this thread. I had my surgery on 10/27. My surgery went well, I did take longer in recovery than most, but I don't really remember that to much. I was on my pain drip and I used it every time the light turned green. I didn't feel pain but they had said to try to stay ahead of the pain so that is what I did. I was up and walking around 9pm on the day I had surgery. My surgery was at 2pm. My hubby stayed the whole time I was in the hospital and that was a huge help. I just felt more comfortable with him there. I went home Tuesday around suppertime and didn't need any pain medicine at all once I got home. And by that first weekend I was getting in my Protein and my liquids. I was surprised by that. My incisions were all good and are pretty much healed up now. I walked everyday and most days I did get my hour in. It did make me feel better I am sure of that. I have been back to the gym and working on getting my stamina back. I had a good 2 week post op appointment and was happy about that. Everything I introduced to my sleeve in the soft food stage has gone well. So for that I am grateful. So I am following my doctors orders and doing two shakes a day and one small meal. I usually have my meal at dinner time with my family. it hasn't bothered me to cook for my family and then eat my little bit of whatever. There is no way I want to mess this up, I didn't got thru all this to not follow the rules and so far following the rules has been working.

Does Anyone Only Weigh Monthly?
CheleLynn45 replied to mnmlst's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 10/27 and was weighing once weekly. When I went to my first follow up appt my surgeon told me to weigh in daily until my follow up appt on Dec 30th. That is so against what I have ever done when losing weight but I am following my docs orders. I was given a great little book to log and track. When I first got it I was like I'm not going to use this I am going to use my phone. But OMG I love this little book. I use it to track all my stuff, my weight, calories, Protein, sugars, liquid and exercise. It just works really well for me. I am taking pics once a month and my measurements once a month too. I will be four weeks post op on this coming Monday and so far I have been losing and feeling great!
