  1. I had my surgery Feb. 18th and am doing really good. I went to WLS Dr. yesterday and got my drain tube removed. That made me feel a bunch better!!. Today I had an appointment with my primary doctor. I had made the appointment because I knew I would be off work and have to go at least once a year to get my thyroid and BP medicine refilled. Anyway, he is very athletic, rides his bike to work everyday. When I told he I had gastric sleeve surgery seemed kind of taken back. He started telling me stats of how many people regain their weight etc. It really bummed me out. I know this surgery is just a tool and that I can not eat like I was or I will not be successful. I know he was just being realistic and stressing that I had to watch portions and incorporated exercise into my lifestyle but it still bummed me out. Maybe I am just sensitive after this liquid diet LOL. I just thought he would be a little more encouraging.

    UHC

I don't have UHC but you might check about a week after it is submitted to make sure they get it. Luckily, I called my insurance for something else and just happened to ask. They had not received it even though dr office said they had faxed it 7 days earlier. They gave me the fax number, I had the dr office refax to that number, they reviewed it the next day and it was approved the following day.
  3. No it really doesn't help b/c that is YOUR surgeons recommendations NOT mine. My original question was not how to advance my diet. I was cleared for a soft diet ONE week post op and doing just fine. Thanks anyway. But seriously, is a burrito considered soft? I would consider that regular food.

    Other protein options

I buy regular soup (progresso is my fav) and blend it and then add Protein powder. The only problem is most protein powders break down and denature at 140 degrees so you can not heat it up very much. I like it at room temp .
  5. Had my surgery Feb 18th. Everytime I drink water or protein shake, or even any activity, all I do is burp. I still have excessive gas in my stomach area although much better in the shoulders. I am scheduled to go tomorrow to have my drain tube removed and I am hoping it will take some of that gas with it. The doctor said the fluid would go from red to a light yellow color but it is still pretty red. Is this normal?

    Unflavored protein?

I just added a whole scoop of isopure unflavored to a can of blended Progresso chicken noodle soup and could not taste it at all.

    Gas pains!

Thankfully I had my tube out yesterday and that made a world of difference. Wow u have to have drain tube in for almost a week?! Yes, almost a week. It is really a nuisance and I hope when it comes out, some gas will go with it. The gas is really the only pain I am having other than just soreness.
  8. I had my leak test Wenesday . I only had to swallow a few swallows of a clear liquid. It was not near as much as the original barium test that I had done presurgery.

    Gas pains!

That's the thing, I'm felt like it never passed either through farthing or burping! Lol so idol where it went! But I had my drain tube removed yesterday and that made a big difference. Feeling a lot better without that! Not feeling naw much gas either. I had my surgery Tuesday and have gas galore. I can't drink anything but Water because it is like a gas bubble forms in my esophagus. I get my drain tube out Monday. Fingers crossed that will help.
  10. I am scheduled the 18th also!!
